      Well, your fellow liberals are fucking up the UK by forcing the PM to accept whatever shitty deal the EU gives us, with no recourse.

      Liberals lost the referendum, but they are shitting all over democracy by preventing it in Parliament.

      If we reverse the benefits of sending jobs outside of the US, then we can reclaim many of our manufacturing jobs.  Ending NAFTA was a great step in that.  NAFTA gave special rights to Mexico and Canada, that the US didn't get.  Canada got to protect several of its industries from NAFTA and Mexico was allowed to keep its low workplace standards, among others.  Trudeau called it racist when Trump said that Mexico needed to have the same workplace standards as the US and Canada.  Seems like its Trudeau's racism of low expectations that's the problem.

      When I lived in Houston, I saw the shitty trucks coming up from Mexico that would be illegal without NAFTA.

      Being from a tiny country, I can see why you don't understand the issues that only supporting major cities and California would cause the US.

      Switzerland is the most heavily armed nation, and yet has practically no homicides.  Same can be said of Japan, in which they are disarmed.  On Australia, the data is inconclusive, as their experiment is in the relative youthful stages of long term data.  Australia has seen a spike in violent crime recently, but I would refrain from using them for comparison purposes until there's at least ten more year worth of data to draw from.

      However, in the United States, the problems are much more complex.  Do you live on a rural ranch in New Mexico near the US-Mexican border where cartels are as heavily armed in many cases as the US military?  Do you live on a rural farm in Kentucky where your neighbors maybe in high end meth production in a county with literally just a couple of law enforcement officers available?  The problem is trying to narrow down the problems of such a vast country into a few simple statements.

      Truth is the law already prohibits the mentally ill & felons from legally purchasing guns.  However, the loopholes are astounding because the money was never invested to get all 50 state to use the same database.  Then, with state by state HIPPA laws, mental health professionals are too afraid of being sued by their patients to do the due dilligence on what is needed, and in other states, felons are often granted full rights back so that they can vote, which in some states include gun rights.  There's alot to unpackage to have real reform.

      @brianboru72:

      Speaking as someone on the outside looking in- I do understand the need for gun ownership for protection and hunting purposes. However, it really feels like it has been taken to an extreme level and needs to be reined in.
      For instance- would assault rifles and automatic weapons really be needed for hunting or self-defense?
      And as for mental illness- as much as I see your point about responsible, medicated gun owners who have minor mental illness, as a point of public safety, I personally would feel better with stricter restrictions.

      In the end, the statistics speak for themselves. Places like Australia and Japan have proven that limiting gun ownership leads to a big drop in gun related deaths and shootings. So really it becomes a question of what is more important- the lives of potential future victims, or the freedom to carry.

      @royalcrown89:

      @flozen:

      Congratulations to the Virginia voters for choosing, both up- and down-ballot, to send a message to Washington.

      The extraordinarily inept performance in the Executive branch has, um, been noticed, lol:

      https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

      And it will be corrected, initially, at the state level, in the purple battlegrounds.  Hang on to your hats.

      Exactly! They did a wonderful job last night and I can't wait to see it replicated in many other states next year. Here in South Carolina, we have a big issue to run on and may very well win the upcoming gubernatorial race for the first time in 20 years. Democrat Jim Hodges won in 1998 when there was a lack of enthusiasm here for the Republican party. #45 is underwater in his approval rating here and also in North Carolina and Georgia. The more he injects himself into these races, the more likely Democrats are to win because his presence unifies the opposition. Look at what his support did to Luther Strange in Alabama. And just as he did with Gillespie, he threw Strange under the bus because he's a big fat flip-flopping coward.

      I guess you are not going to correct your blatant lies in this thread.
      Nobody with a brain is drinking your koolaids, so I'm not that bothered.
      Instead let me educate the readers of this thread.  The state of Virginia is hopeless.  It's no big win for a democrat to win as governor.  In the 2016 election, crooked Hillary barely won Virginia despite the fact that her own running mate Kaine is from Virginia!  Even then.. Trump did extremely well in Virginia.. but as you see from the map below.. even though Trump won all the counties in red.. he still lost the state because of ONE county in the north of Virginia which is on the border of Washington DC.  (Washington DC voted 97% in favor of crooked Hillary).  Anybody that is proud that one tiny county that is a parasite of Washington DC is controlling the will of Virginia is sick!  Take a look at this map…

      I quite like Sam Smith, but only in small doses.

      On small doses he's another good version of 'tortured singer with great voices'. I particularly like Lay Me Down and Stay With Me.

      But listening to him in succession made me feel that something in his songs felt… not artificial, just overwrought. Like he's trying extra hard to make his songs all Grand Love Suffering and Angst and losing a bit of rawness in there.

      @Frederick:

      … or to summarize.. the allegations of collusion are nothing but a nothing burger.  In fact, until Van Jones of CNN said this.. he was a big shot at CNN.. since then, they have muzzled him.    Van Jones called the collusion story a "Nothing Burger"
      Youtube Video

      But it's a nothing burger that people believe exists. Had Trump not made a big deal out of Obama's birth certificate, I'd be angry about the whole investigation. Seems to me he's getting payback. Also, the Republicans are getting a taste of obstruction aka payback.

      I'm hoping that when it's all over both sides can let it go and get to running the country.

      If it is a nothing burger once the investigation ends, it would be best for everyone to move on. I also believe if the president is successful with getting tax reform, the amount of extra stabilization it will bring to an already stabilizing market will overshadow anything the left even attempts to throw at him. It would truly change the direction of things. I'm heavily against major tax cuts for the wealthy, but I'll accept them if it means having a robust market that actually does create jobs and raises wages (would need to see immediate results of that). However, there needs to be a starting point with trust and only the president can lead on that front.

      No, it's a nothing burger until Mueller comes up with something.. and so far he has not.

      I'd like to see someone investigate CNN for giving Hillary the presidential debate questions.. and also investigate Hillary for not revealing that she got the questions for the debate before the debate.

      Mueller is the only person in Washington who is actually doing his job.  Absolutely NOTHING gets done in the White House.

      Welcome back from your bi-monthly vow to never post in this group again, and specifically your vow to never reply to my messages.

      I know it is your dream that the USA fails.  Funny, the economy is in the best shape it has ever been in, and continuing to rise.  There was a bounce immediately after Trump won the election.. and the economy has been improving ever since.

      As for Herr Mueller, that Russian scandal story has died.  There was nothing to it, and Mueller wasted his time.  In fact, it is ironic that by leaking all those silly Russian meeting stories, the nonsense has already been exhausted and forgotten.  People have grown tired of the entire topic.  By the time Mueller closes his investigation, he will have nothing to reveal that has not already been revealed.  yAWN!

      Come on royalcrown, we're waiting for you to actually answer the statements and accusations. Are you going to do that? Are you going to answer our claim that you are the True racist, because you want illegals to be above the law, or the accusation that you are ok with Hillary deleting emails AFTER a subpoena? Nope. You are doing everything you can to evade actually answering those facts. You are pathetic. Go ahead. Let's see how long we can play this game. You can continue not answering and we can continue asking forever. We've already been doing it for almost a year. You still refuse to answer. If it doesn't feel good, you deflect.

      I'm not sure what is worse.. when Royalcrown doesn't answer … or when he does, but uses blatant lies in his statements.

      Trump supporters know they have screwed up.  It's tough to admit it but there is still time.  You can still right this wrong Trumpies.

      Yeah, I agree that they know they've screwed up. However, their time has run out. Prior to the incident in Charlottesville, #45's approval rating had already dropped somewhere between 31-34% according to Gallup, which is a very accurate and reputable polling source. Well all know what's going to happen to those numbers once new polling is done with this horrific incident factored in. This was his chance to have a rallying moment around the White House and he ruined it with that first statement. You have to get it right with your first comments when you are the president because people want to know they have a credible, competent president who gets it right immediately. He failed to condemn every single group by name that caused all of this trouble in the first place. One of the representatives of one group, David Duke, stated on LIVE TV the president by name as the reason for why the racists showed up. David Duke literally proclaimed, "We are doing this because the president promised us we could." This presidency is effectively over and any Republican who defends this openly will go down with it.

      You know whose approval ratings are lower than Trump's?  all of the moonbats.. including Hillary!    :hehe: :hehe:

      The faster we get to a sense of normality where politics is about substantive policy debates and economics, the better.  Sadly it seems the only chance to escape this ridiculous political theater is in 2018/2020.

      Oh.. I don't think it will take that long.
      I would give 50/50 odds that Obamacare will be replaced this month…
      I would also say that a massive tax cut will pass in November.

      The election was like a lightning strike right to Hillary's petrified vagina.  The democrats have been running around like a load of chickens with their heads cut off since then.  Instead of accepting the results of the election, and moving on, they have doubled down and refused to  accept the results of the election - and are making fools of themselves.

      Is it really surprising after the "#45 supports LGBTQ individuals" lie that this administration does not support us? Why is the president not taking up for us now? Why is he not defending us from what Jeff Sessions wants to do? If he needs a reason to fire Sessions, shouldn't this be it? Or has this president once again shown he's a coward and a liar?

      Who supports this? Who wants to see other gays lose their jobs, benefits, etc. just because they are gay or if their employer assumes they are gay? Yet another indefensible action by this president and his administration.

      Here we go again…
      On the one hand.. people are complaining that Sessions is attacking gays..
      While on the other hand.. people are attacking Trump for criticizing Sessions and warning him not to fire Sessions.

      This is exactly the same two-faced logic that reared it's head with firing James Cumonme.

      Didn't the president say he was going to be a president that stands up for LGBT individuals? Did he not make the promise that he would not let his administration discriminate against LGBT individuals? He is a coward and a liar like I said. If he was a man of his word, he would come out and say "AG Sessions is WRONG to file motions with ANY court to make the legal argument for discriminating against LGBT individuals." He has not been saying that and you are wrong for attempting to twist my point. The president has been criticizing AG Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia collusion investigation, not for being a disgusting bigot. The longer the president remains silent on this, the more he himself is going to come off as a disgusting bigot. He says he's done with Sessions, then he needs to prove it. Come out against what Sessions is trying to do to LGBT individuals, not just about Sessions recusing himself.

      Like I said before,  Trump gets attacked for what Session does.. and Trump also gets attacked for criticizing what Sessions does.  Trump is being threatened with catastrophic mutiny if he fires Sessions.  Expect Sessions to resign soon.

      @Frederick:

      Actually.. the ACA was not Obama's invention.. but Hillary's.  When Hillary was the first lady under President Bill Clinton, she came up with a socialized healthcare plan, and she was laughed at by both Republicans and Democrats.

      Trump is going to have a massive number of new supporters who are currently being forced to purchase healthcare who will no longer be required to buy it.

      Hillary's healthcare plan was very different from ObamaCare.  ObamaCare is based off a plan from the Conservative Heritage Foundation think tank.  The plan was kicked around in Congress by REPUBLICANS for a couple of decades.  It was always their plan.

      Then Governor Romney faced with huge healthcare costs due to the amount of uncompensated care given to "freeloaders" as he called them took the plan and implemented it in Massachusetts.  Before RomneyCare (and later ObamaCare) people could just go to the ER and never pay the bill.  Those costs were forced onto taxpayers and people who had insurance.  RomneyCare and ObamaCare ensured that everybody paid something even if it was just a fine.

      Romney campaigned against his own healthcare plan when he ran for President which was a huge mistake and likely cost him the election.  It seemed like such a big deal back then.  Now we have a President who is against stuff he was for just five minutes ago.

      I feel like this thread was a breakthrough, and even with the attempts at derailment, we made some progress on stating our arguments and defending them instead of using childish tactics to shut the discussion down. Once again, we don't have to agree on everything. It's not about that. It's also not about keeping people from talking about certain things. We are not children. We are all adults and adults know how to state what they believe without basing their arguments on falsehoods and alternative realities. Hopefully, this is a sign that we are going to improve the Politics & Debate section by actually debating with our arguments, not by constant downvoting or multiple negative reputation hits in one day. Thanks to everyone who participated and a special thank you to Frederick. I hope to see more of that in your posts, man  :thankyou:

      @mhorndisk:

      The one problem with your statement is that you insinuate that conservatives are claiming someone's race shouldn't exist.

      I can't tell you how many recent articles I've read about that kind of speech coming from liberals. Just look for them.

      "No whites allowed: Blacks-only HS assembly outrages white parents, so how did principal defend it?"
      http://www.bizpacreview.com/2015/03/08/no-whites-allowed-blacks-only-hs-assembly-outrages-white-parents-so-how-did-principal-defend-it-185199

      No Whites Allowed: Seattle ‘Yoga Class for People of Color’ Excludes Caucasians
      https://www.infowars.com/no-whites-allowed-seattle-yoga-class-for-people-of-color-excludes-caucasians/

      I could go on but there are literally hundreds of examples of whitey must die, whitey is responsible for everything, whitey is this, whitey is that, we need to eliminate whitey. It just goes on and on and on and on and on. Nothing like that ever comes from conservatives and if you just don't see it or get it, I don't have time to show you what you just don't want to see. It's like trying to tell someone that cigarettes are bad for you. It doesn't matter.

      What the hell are you talking about? I mentioned "someone" as in someone individually, not a conservative. You do realize my argument could mean ANYONE, right? It could also apply to black people who claim they don't want whites to exist, or Asians who say they don't want anyone other than Asian's to exist. I'm talking about white supremacists like Richard Spencer. I'm talking about black supremacists like Louis Farrakhan. Where did I say conservatives make the argument that a race shouldn't exist? This is why I'm calling for more civility, these wild accusations without proof are getting way out of hand. You completely misconstrued my point and I believe you did it on purpose.
