    • RE: How much are porn stars paid?

In general, amateur models are sought out and are paid no more than a couple hundred dollars, per my inside sources.  And established porn actors make no more than a thousand or two.

It's amazing how studios have no problems low-balling and cheating models out of any fair share of whatever is produced from the activities, but scream bloody murder if users share torrents on the material a user may purchase from them.

Obviously FratX wants to convey an aura of doom and gloom if anyone shares material obtained from their site.  But, it is exactly that. . . a scare tactic, which is the public impression they want to convey and disseminate through whatever mediums they can.  Thus, their wanting this particular user to settle his situation by helping them to disseminate this information.

They know they can't sue all the individuals that make a decision to share material with others.  It would be totally cost prohibitive.   But most torrent users don't know the ins and outs of troll manipulations and propaganda lies, so they work to intimidate.  They will try to extort money from you and threatening to embarrass you by making your name public.  There are plenty of resources, however, for users to become informed through information available on the internet.  Main thing is NEVER to talk to them without FIRST becoming informed.  Key resources include:

      • FightCopyrightTrolls.com/

      • DieTrollDie.com

      • ExtortionLetterInfo.com,

      • PietzLawFirm.com

      • TorrentFreak.com

**My interest in posting his letter is to convey the use of watermarking that invisibly etches identifying information into video when either downloading or recording material from some websites.  If you download a copy, it will interject a picture or coding with your membership number to a particular site; somewhere within the video file.  It may be one location or many locations.  If you record from an embedded video player on a site, this watermark is still introjected into the video stream with your membership number. That way, if a particular member decides to share their download or recording, their membership number is forever linked to it.  If it ends up on a public sharing site, the website can download it, then use their decoder that will find and identify the etched membership number, which of course can then be linked to whatever personal information was used to open a membership on that particular website.  An IP address is not necessary to identify members any longer.  Some forms of watermarking even persists when a download or recording is transcoded into another video format.  **

No one insinuated you were a troll Acme –--  my comment ("This is exactly the type of thing trolls do.") was not referring to you  ---- I was referencing that trolls put individuals through the very things that he was explaining.  My intent was to add credibility to the story he was sharing.

Sure, I would have put it in different words as well, particularly if I were taking pre-incident precautions in my communications.  But if everything is after the fact and a company is insisting this or that be communicated as part of a deal to put something to rest, that doesn't leave him with many options as stated by ninjapow.

It's not fake –- I've followed the whole thing from the side lines with this member.    This is exactly the type of thing trolls do.   All the details are consistent with what others report elsewhere on the internet.

Remember, he was coerced to make a statement.  I agreed to post it so he can finish addressing his situation; and because I think it's good information for all users.   I think he went further to express his full experience for the benefit of the other users on the site.  Kudos for doing so.

It's a good reminder to the torrent community that multi-level precautions are a good idea when sharing.

    • A letter to the Gaytorrent community

At the request of a site user, he wants his story shared with the rest of the community:

Well, where do I start? .. One night I was bored and I decided to steal some content from FraternityX and share it with the community here. Turns out this was a mistake and I'm going to pay for it.. Here's how it all went down.

I bought a membership and used a screen capturing app to record the videos which was tedious to say the least I stole a total of 4 videos and on the forth video I noticed some water marking with my IP address which of course is traced back to me very easily as that's the same IP i used to create the membership and browse the site's content. So I was busted at that point and I was really just hoping that no trolls would notice. This assumption was wrong the following business day I received an email from someone at online-buddies.com who I decided to start talking with immediately knowing full well I did something I shouldn't have. Sadly, I admitted to stealing the content in hopes that honesty and cooperation would help the situation. It didn't.  At least not immediately.  They wanted me to pay $16,000 USD in damages.  There were some back and forth conversations, along with a formal letter that was sent to my home address.  I then started to talking with some lawyers and realized that online-buddies would have a very difficult time taking me to court, as it would cost them much more money to actually sue me.  So, I made online-buddies an offer which was significantly less then the original demanded amount.  As part of the deal, online-buddies insisted that I share my story on the forums.

This company definitely tried to scare me.  They were very aggressive, and due to my lack of legal knowledge, I was scared briefly .. If this ever happens to you consult a lawyer immediately even if its just to ask a quick question on justanswers.com.  I ended up having to speak with lawyers in the US and Canada both of which said that online-buddies would have to spend a lot of money trying to sue me and that it simply wouldn't be profitable for them to take me to court.  That being said I still feel obligated to cover some of the damages, hence my very low offer being made and eventually accepted due to the fact that I wasn't profiting off of this content in anyway.

In summary don't steal from FraternityX if you have a membership with them.  They'll hunt you down through their invisible watermarking .. scare you .. and try to get as much money as they can from you. After all, this an exceptionally profitable business model in the USA.  If you are caught, admit nothing unless you're an honest guy like myself.

    • RE: SITE POLL –-- Intravenous Drug Use in Self-Published Porn Torrents

I believe it is fairly self-evident what material is and isn't generally offensive to the gay community standard of decency.  And this is separate from personal tastes and preferences.  Though as a group, the gay community is much more tolerant on most issues and particularly sexual expression, it does not exist without it's own standards of decency.

The torrents previously cited included clip material with minimal to no sexual behavior and merely demonstrated an individual engaging in intravenous consumption of a substance.

All other forms of drug use consumption is allowable under GT.ru uploading rules, except for intravenous injection.  So this is not a ban against drug use.  This does not ban intravenous injection of saline into various body parts.  It is the two together that is relevant.  Who among us hasn't seen a friend or family member go through addiction and ruin of their life?  If one is injecting, it's generally not an indication of party use (which is questionable in its own right), but one of addiction and repetitive self-destructive behavior.  And those with knowledge or experience in addiction know continued use ends in either death or prison.  If you care about human beings, you would never want others to see this as some how glorified or acceptable within our community.

An argument of inclusiveness without community responsibility and standards of decency makes little sense to me.  If we are to allow others complete personal freedom of material selection and include all uploads, we should remove all banned limits that violate standards of decency, such as child pornography, bestiality, rape, torture, blood sport, etc. . .  Why maintain the ban on this other material, if an application of decency shouldn't be applied in the torrent library?  Use of the qualifying "as long as it involves adult consent" is merely application of another community standard of decency.  So which is it, we use a standard of decency or not?  But you can't have it part way without the argument of personal choice breaks down.

My last comment was meant to challenge anti-censorship positions in expounding how inclusion is an acceptable limit within this framework "as long as it involves activity with mutual consent."

How is censoring more extreme fetishes that contain non-consent acceptable if the point of argument stems from a primary directive of inclusion and deference on all matters to individual opinion?  To do so is the same application of "common decency" / "community consensus" at another limit (adult consent), rather than being consistent in an anti-censorship principle of inclusiveness and personal decision.

    • RE: SITE POLL –-- Intravenous Drug Use in Self-Published Porn Torrents

"Common decency" is more typified by general community assessment rather than being a personal subjective opinion.

      A case in point:

Frequently, arguments about not censoring certain material are qualified with "as long as it's between consenting adults,"  but what if some users are sexually excited by non-consensual material such as pedophilia, bestiality, snuff, blood sport and torture?  Isn't this qualification of consent an infringement on censoring personal interests and therefore should be considered invalid?  I mean we could simply have these things labelled, right?  And allow others to chose to watch or not. . .

Certainly this does not involve an issue of legality.  If we relied on the legal precedent of protecting the rights of others in a non-consensual manner, torrents of IV drug use could be dismissed because of a near universal illegality of intravenously consumed substances.  So if not legally based, where is this qualification against non-consensual activities coming from if not from some collective assessment of "common decency"?

How is this non-consensual principle a justifying concept with the anti-censorship folks if it violates, at the same time, some users' personal interests, the predominant issue of anti-censorship?

    • RE: Is it possible to download just sections of a torrent?

There is no option on GT.ru that allows a user to select which files to download when there are more than one.

However, after pressing download, when the torrent selection pulls up in your torrent client, you can select which of the files to download.  So, this can only be done from inside your torrent client.

    • RE: Caught, with Vuze

No one should be torrenting on today's internet without the use of a VPN or proxy.

A torrent client organizes the sharing of files, but does nothing to mask traffic to and from your computer.  Your internet service provider gives you access to the internet and logs everything you do by the IP they assign to your account and therefore all the activity you do from your computer.

As metafile informed, one has to encrypt the traffic as it goes out of your computer, through your ISP, to the final destination.  A VPN service hides data traffic AND masks your IP.  The only thing that your ISP can log is random gibberish data due to the encryption.  And if a group detects your sharing of a torrent, the IP provided goes to your VPN, NOT your ISP.  I strongly recommend using Private Access Internet as well.  They do not keep any logs, which some VPN services do, which defeats part of the purpose in using them.

If this is the first notification by your ISP, it likely is only a warning.  Take heed that you are actually unprotected and get a VPN if you continue in your torrent activities.

    • RE: Effects of HIV?

HIV is no longer an absolute death sentence that kills you in a few years due to medication advancements which are better tolerated and more effective.  In the past doctors recommended not starting medications until your immune system (CD4 cells) diminished to a dangerously low level that risked infection and cancers.  Today, newly diagnosed HIV+ patients are started on medications immediately after diagnosis.  This typically involves taking 3 medications that cost about $25-30,000 a year; not to mention doctor and laboratory bills.

If you pass the virus to a sexual partner without their knowing you are positive, they can sue you for damages and you risk criminal prosecution which will label you as a sex offender for the rest of your life.

If an HIV+ individual remains on triple medications throughout their life, studies have shown there to be a near normal life expectancy minus 5 years.  Unfortunately, there is increasing instances of virus resistance to different medications, so that about 5% of all patients on medications have medication failure that can result in a series of medication trials toward older medications that have more side effects and toxicities.  When here is medication failure, due to noncompliance of 1-3 times a day medication schedules every day for life OR drug resistance, the immune system progressively diminishes within a year or two.  When CD4 levels drop below 200, there is a large risk of infections and various types of cancers.  One does not actually die from HIV, one dies from infections and cancers that run out of control with an absent immune system.

When an HIV+ individual is compliant with treatment over time, the risk of passing the virus to a partner during unprotected sex is about 4% (96% effective).  Even though viral levels may be undetectable in a medication treated HIV+ individual, the virus still sheds small amounts of virus into the semen in about 25-50% of people.

Patients on effective medication do not get sick more easily than others when their CD4 levels are greater than 350.  Normal CD4 levels are usually around 1000-1200.  If one is unable to afford medication and remains unmedicated or has a resistance to medications, when CD4 levels drop below 350, one can pick up infections more easily.  When CD4 levels drop below 200, the risk of infection increases substantially; as so various forms of cancer.  However, even with medication and undetectable virus levels, there is a general greater risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease (heart attacks and stroke) compared to HIV- individuals.

A major problem that comes up for HIV+ individuals taking medication is the extensive adverse interactions they have with other medications, so can complicate the effective treatment of any other condition.  There are certain organ toxicities that can occur with different medications –- mostly liver and kidney.

Additionally, like cwilbur, mentioned, there is significant emotional and social complications and difficulties when dealing with HIV.  So add in financial and physical repercussions of contracting HIV, I would strongly recommend anyone who is negative to do what is in their personal power to avoid contracting it by reducing one's risk at all cost.

    • RE: If semen/blood is exposed to air, there is no chance of AIDS?

The HIV virus will not die when exposed to air during ejaculate.  Semen comes out in globs of droplets, with only the outer portion being exposed to air –- anything on the inside of the ejaculate glob has no contact with air.

Using condoms provides very good (but not perfect if condom breaks) protection; withdrawal when shooting is a safer practice as well.  I would recommend shooting away from any area that has a mucosal layer (mouth, anus, eyes, nose --- easy viral penetration into blood system).  As FlammeRouge mentioned, broken skin also poses a threat; but intact skin is okay.
