    • RE: Rachel Dolezal is Broke and on Food Stamps

      @aadam101:

      I am looking for a job.  I know that it doesn't guarantee anyone anything but I just picture HR departments putting the resumes of guys with names like mine all the way to the bottom because they have a quota to meet with some minority group.  This is part of the reason why people like Dolezal do things like that.  She saw a greater opportunity because people thought she was black.  I think we can all agree she would NOT have had that job if the people who hired her knew she was white.

      The reality is, that does occur here and there. But, not most HR departments.

      If this is a serious concern to you, I suggest working on your self confidence. I realize the process is daunting but it's really important to be confident, communicate effectively, and don't seem desperate.

      Let me shed some light on this: From the perspective of the HR department, their job massively blows, especially if they work for a big brand. A lot of pressure is on them to find the right people to fill the positions and they get completely bombed with resumes. So, when they find a person that fits, they might be "poker faced" during an interview or on the phone, but the reality is, it's their job to hire that person.

      So, it's a highly ineffective filtration process. You have to take advantage of it's inefficiency by spamming out your resume and being persistent. If 50% of the people they hire are for the reason of "affirmative action" then that means the other 50% are hired because "it was the first resume in the pile where I was convinced the person was qualified." That's because, HR has to do their job…

      Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say here is, you need to get the concept that the HR department is your enemy out of your head. They are most certainly your friends. You can't buy into that other crap because you're it's self defeating.

      AA doesn't mean there are less jobs available to any one class, it just means it, in some cases, less effort is required for those people to get jobs. Also, the way the job market is today in the US: I suggest trying to actively get your resume out to 50 companies a day until your phone rings. If you have prepared to be interviewed, it won't take very long.

      @nydude25:

      Again, it seems like you're not aware of what CPAC is and who it attracts.

      You're right, normal voters go to CPAC. I'm wrong. No idea what I'm talking about. This isn't a clear case of sample bias.

      @nydude25:

      The poll certainly indicates how conservatives feel towards Trump. Whether the 86% is accurate or not isn't the point since the poll has a margin of error that can go a few points in either direction. It definitely indicates that he has overwhelming support.

      No, it doesn't. It certainly indicates how attendees of CPAC feel towards Trump. Get over it. Facts are facts.

      @nydude25:

      I have to ask you if you're new to politics, because you seem to think that the "feelings" of the non-voters matters. They don't. Why? Because they don't vote. Everyone has an opinion in politics, but unless they vote, that opinion doesn't mean jack.

      And it's fairly obvious that people DID switch sides to vote for Trump, but if you're new to politics, I can see how you might not have picked up on it. He won in states that have been blue for years. Pennsylvania had been fools gold for Republicans for years, but they couldn't win there. Trump won those blue states and he won them because some voters on the left were unhappy with their candidate and some voters on the left supporter Trump. None of the other Republican candidates could have pulled that off because they were all stuck on the party's failed ideology of the past.

      Voter turnout was low, this is a fact… How do you come to that conclusion? Democrats voted for Trump? Doubt it. Maybe if you consider not showing up, a vote for Trump. Moderates who are not on a side, voted for Trump. You truly believe Obama voters, went for Trump this time? Come on dude... Your analysis of what occurred is overwhelmingly narrow minded. What stops citizens who don't normally vote from deciding to vote? What stops the youth who have low participation rates from realizing that voting is important? You're not making any sense man... You're describing a world where there are two groups of voters and there are only voters and non voters... That isn't reality.

      @nydude25:

      Trump knows quite well that his actions are why his supporters are so loyal. He's annoying the Beltway crowd by actually sticking to his campaign promises. I'm not sure what you thought you were getting so I don't know what you think you've been lied to about. Since he's only been in office for six weeks, I don't know how you can even determine that you've been lied to yet. The negotiations with the Republicans in the congress will be just fine. His approval rating will increase as people see he has been keeping his campaign promises. Congress needs to get to work on the repeal and replace of Obamacare, and I'm sure they'll have that done before the early summer break. Then they'll tackle tax reform through the fall.

      LMAO… The ACA repeal isn't going to happen... He just vomited out Ryan's plan during his speech last night which is unpopular among Republicans, not to mention Trump's supporters. Under that law, the health insurance plan for many Americans will effectively be "You Pay For It" with no actual insurance.

      @nydude25:

      It sounds like you're letting the media's propaganda get to you. Don't believe their hype. They have been throwing everything that can dream up at Trump for almost a year now, and it all winds up being fictional trash with no merit.

      Oh my god dude /eyeroll … "Fictional Trash with No Merit." Be honest: you didn't actually do any research what so ever and you just hear him say "Fake News" and assume it is. What fictional trash with no merit are you referring to? Also, propaganda is a pretty strong word, what are you talking about? What propaganda are you referring to? I think you mean the word "Agenda" and you're going to have to have specific details here or I'm just going to roll my eyes at you.

      Trump University was propaganda and it wasn't a massive scam? But he settled ... So ... Wait what?

      Trump lies virtually every time he opens his mouth is propaganda? But we can double check that and see it's true ? So ...

      The dossier was #FakeNews. Oh wait, more and more details emerge everyday confirming parts of it. "Completely fabricated" but it isn't, is it?

      Head over to any of the #FakeNews media sites and find me a single story that's "Fictional Trash" that doesn't have the word "Opinion" next to it. Do it. I want to see this.

      That doesn't mean they are held to equal standards … The word opportunity does not mean guarantee. Also, most companies say something along those lines... Are you looking for a job? I mean the poster boy for scam artists is president, you should just go take Jordan Belfort's course on sales and become an life insurance broker for wealthy people or something... They got rid of the provision in Dodd Frank that prevents stock brokers from scamming old people out of their retirements. Be realistic, if you don't do it, somebody else will.

      @royalcrown89:

      Republicans have a chance as long as they can replace ACA with something better and deliver on those tax cuts. THEY HAVE TO DO BOTH or things are going to get very ugly on that side of the political spectrum. They've been saying they will cut taxes for a very long time and they must keep their word on that. And I don't even have to say what will happen if they snatch away health insurance from millions of people, especially those in Republican majority states. They also need to stay away from decisions that effect sports in states where sports really matter or there will be many repeats of what happened in North Carolina. All of those Republican governors who won in 2010 and 2014 will get the boot if an important basketball, football etc. event gets ruined due to some stupid transgender bathroom ban or anti-gay legislation. Republicans should know by now that they do best when they stick to cutting taxes and gutting regulations, not social issues.

      They can't do either… Look at Trump's discretionary budget... It's not cuts to reduce the debt, it's cuts to spend.

      You're also forgetting he promised to "pay off the debt in 8 years."

      http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/275003-trump-i-will-eliminate-us-debt-in-8-years

      Never mind the fact that is totally impossible.

      So I'll play fair, currently all his plan does is shift spending around, so that shouldn't add to the debt, but the government already operates with a deficit, so that does absolutely nothing to reduce the debt.

      A single penny of tax cuts to anyone, would increase the debt further, and devalue the US dollar (The Fed would have to print more money to cover it), causing potentially rapid inflation.

      The Democrats are going to realize that their constant attempts to demonize and disparage Trump are destroying their chances of being able to participate in any legislation with him.

      They're never going to … Trump completely broke the political system in the US. Granted, it was broken before, but now it's just going to seesaw every election cycle. I firmly believe that there's going to be a very bad day ahead for conservatives in 2018. I hate to say this, but if the democrats ever gain control of the house and senate, they're going to employ every tactic the republicans used and it's going to be a decade before it gets sorted out. Trump is very bad for the future political situation in this country... If he can't turn his presidency around, then he might as well give the government to the democrats. The voter suppression tactics will not work twice. The democrats thought they had the election won easily, (I thought they did too), but they're seriously pissed off now... And nothing Donald is doing is helping...

      @raphjd:

      I say you are a liberal because, despite your claims, pretty much everything you say is quite liberal.

      This is a political discussion board, I'm picking topics that are controversial to discuss that I believe are relevant to this site.

      Recently, Trump announced that he wants the a shift in discretionary spending to strengthen the military. Which I support, but as always, he delivered the announcement in an overly dramatic manner and his explanations of where the money would actually come from were a ball of jumbled ideas. This to me isn't controversial. I think the majority of Americans support a strong military. The reality is, everything is give and take, so what programs are going to get slashed to pay for it? Which, could be controversial, but all he did was speak, nobody has any idea what the actual budget would look like. Also, wasn't he suppose to build a wall? Doesn't that plan kind of tie his hands behind his back?

      Or, do you expect me as an informed person to participate or encourage discussions about how illegal aliens are voting in the elections?

      We might as well have a conversation about how the liberals are busing in space aliens to not win elections …

      Or lets argue about Caitlyn Jenner had to say; maybe what she said was controversial, but she isn't a politician, so that's not a political discussion.

      Edit: Also, his explanation of why America needs to spend more on the military was complete and utter nonsense. (So we spent 6 trillion in the middle east, so lets spend another trillion? Illogical at best.) And his suggestion that we "don't win wars anymore" was borderline scary. So what's the solution? The US needs to start winning wars? Wouldn't the US have to start a war to win one? Or was this yet another admission to the upcoming war in Syria? I'm certainly not pro-ISIL, but there has to be a solution that is safer for the American military and costs less than a ground invasion.

    • RE: Milo Yiannopoulos resigns from Breitbart

      @nydude25:

      I wasn't making any point about Trump's popularity among ALL Americans. I was referring to the CPAC poll which most Americans would not have been aware of. The poll in no way indicates how ALL Americans feel about him, it just indicates how conservatives in America feel about him.

      No, it doesn't. It indicates how attendees of CPAC feel about him.

      @nydude25:

      The narrative had been that Trump wasn't "conservative" enough to win the support of the extremists on the right. That narrative was obviously disproved by Trump's success at CPAC and the poll supports that.

      That poll, proves jack shit.

      @nydude25:

      As for his popularity among ALL Americans, that's really not relevant. The election was a culmination of the eight years of divisiveness that Obama reigned over. He oversaw the thorough destruction of the Democratic party, and now it's in such bad shape that the demonizing Trump is their ONLY strategy to get their foot back in the door of American politics.

      You're new to politics aren't you man? Be honest … In America only about half the eligible voters actually vote, but it's not the exact same people each election. Some people become disenfranchised and stop voting, while others, who didn't previously vote, engage. People don't actually switch sides, excluding moderate voters who don't have a party affiliation. Suggesting that his popularity among all Americans, is irrelevant, is quite possible the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Yeah, he beat the democrats, great, and when enough Republicans get sick of him, he'll destroy that party as well. While he simultaneously infuriates 55%+ of America.

      Donald doesn't seem to understand that his words and his actions (or more importantly, in-actions) have consequences and in about 2 years, I'm wondering who I'll be supporting, because it's completely obvious to me, that I was lied to. Elected officials don't have life time positions, the rest of the Republicans understand this, but I don't think Donald does, or understands the relationship between his approval rating, and other officials in the party. This creates a situation where the Republican controlled congress can't make controversial decisions, since they risk going down with the captain as the ship sinks. So, ACA repeal = lies, they can't touch it with out committing political suicide.

      @nydude25:

      The people that voted for Trump and that agree with the Republican party's ideology are quite happy with Trump's performance so far, as polling has shown. The silly notion that ALL Americans need to approve of his performance fails to recognize that his party controls the government.

      Excluding 7 out of 50 Republicans, who aren't happy with it.

      I was wondering, you guys seem to want Trump to fall with a passion, but you have also stated that if Trump gets impeached, then Pence would rise to Presidency and you say he's even worse than Trump.  So wouldn't that be like, getting from the pan to the fire? (or whatever you say it)

      Almost any career US politician is better than the dumpster fire of the Donald Trump presidency. If George W. Bush was a full blown alcoholic, he would still do a better job.

      Donald still has a lot of support because people like the things he says, the problem is, those aren't the things he does. Sooner or later, people will figure that out. If you think Donald hasn't doomed himself to being remembered as a laughing stock, you're wrong. I'm sure the majority of Americans in 10 years will think "Remember that one time we had that complete jack off, Donald Trump as a president? Man what the hell were we thinking?" While a handful of massively butt-hurt supporters cower in bed from Trump induced fever dreams.

      Thankfully, I think he's pretty much reached the limit of what he can do with an executive order (other than flounder around with new illegal orders), which means all he has left to do, is look like an idiot. Which is all he is capable of, as he is completely incompetent. As time goes on, people will get the message that he's nothing but a massive bullshit volcano that is continuously regurgitating unintelligible word salad.

    • RE: Trump Claims DNC Chair Race Was 'Totally Rigged,' Offers No Evidence

      @nydude25:

      Well, Perez himself has acknowledged that the DNC may have rigged the process against Bernie, and during the DNC Chair debate on CNN a few days ago, Chris Cuomo pressed Perez three times to clarify whether or not he believes the DNC rigged the primary against Sanders. All three times, Perez refused to provide an answer.

      As far as the primary? Yeah, I mean you could tell something was up by looking at the super delegates. And then things turned really ugly when Debbie Schultz resigned. Either way, there was evidence that the DNC was favoring Clinton, which turned out to be an epic disaster for them, severely injured the party. The democrats really needed a candidate that would have talked circles around Trump, which I think Bernie would have. You have to consider the timelines though, if the RNC had picked Ted Cruz, I'm completely confident that they thought that Clinton was a much stronger Candidate than Cruz.

      Either way, Trump might be the best thing for the Democrats, since at least they have something to rally against, even though they have no one to get behind. You have to remember, for the Democrats to start taking seats, they don't need to convert moderates or conservatives, they just need to get people motivated, less than half of America actually turned out to vote.

      This is why I'm confident that ACA will not get repealed. It's a great way for the Republicans to give the Democrats something else to rally against.

      Are we talking about the same media that kept pushing the lie of "hands up don't shoot"? Which was complete FAKE NEWS which led to rioting and burning down millions of dollars worth of property and people getting hurt? Yeah, the media is the enemy. The media wants to divide Americans because it gives them good ratings.

      You're neglecting to mention that your statement is only true if you reorder the events. The media was reporting the information they had, which was indeed, inaccurate. Nobody knew that the shooting was justified until after the Justice Department intervened. You're making it sound like over a hundred media outlets conspired to fabricate a story because of "good ratings." It wasn't the media that lied and there are plenty of stories in the media admitting that the information they had was inconsistent with reality.

      @nydude25:

      Trump was a huge hit at CPAC, and the straw poll showed that he's got huge support on the right.

      The poll found that 86 percent of those polled approve of the job Trump is doing as president.

      And to the question of "President Trump is realigning the Conservative Movement," 80 percent agreed, while only 15 percent disagreed.

      So "conservatives" aren't nearly as divided as you may think.

      If there's one thing that this previous election definitely proved, is that polls are bullshit.

      Something curious happens though if you do this: Trump got 45.9 of the popular vote, 86 percent of the Republicans polled at CPAC approve of the job he is doing, (.459 * .86) * 100 = 39.474% Net approval rating, which is right about where he sits in the Gallup polls (actually those polls have him higher.) Look, I just manipulated numbers to make him look less popular then he's polling. I wouldn't recommend playing the numbers game if you desire intelligent discussion. The big take away here is that: the majority of Americans disapprove. That's still 7 out of 50 Republicans who don't approve. Generally speaking, a newly elected president has the approval from the majority. You're trying to marginalize his lack of popularity because he still has strong support with his base. I'm not surprised at this point. I'm sure Nazi's still support Hitler, so this isn't the best point to argue.

    • RE: So called President Trump will not attend Correspondents Dinner

      @viscous:

      There's been semi-serious speculation that Trump might resign before his term is up. He may just get bored or frustrated with all the work. And he's now subject to all kinds of rules that he would never tolerate in his private business, and it's showing.

      Also, there was a good discussion of Trump's past and present relationships with the press in today's NY Times. He himself used to be the leaker when he was promoting himself to the New York tabloids (I loved the part about the fake accents, which I quoted in bold below)

      I wouldn't doubt for one second that some of the leaks are authorized by him or are members of his own staff.

      There could be multiple reasons for this: Bannon told him to do it, so people would lose faith in the federal government, which he has said that he wants to dismantle.

      Trump is creating a noise cloud, either to get constant media attention, or to create a witch hunt in an effort to scrub out people disloyal to him, or to put new rules in place or get rid of whistle-blower protections.

      Or he's starting a war with the media, potentially to help Breitbart or other conservative media. They might feel that some of their supporters are influenceable and they only want them watching conservative media, which is notorious for being less than factual. What was the story with Fox news the other day? (I don't even understand the whole narrative, other than Trump screwed up and said Sweden and they're trying to make him look like he didn't.) They interviewed a security advisor "From Sweden," who nobody in Sweden knows…?

      Remember: most people rarely watch the news unless something shocking is happening and very few people actually attempt to read the same story from multiple viewpoints. Which I highly suggest everyone do, since then you can easily separate the opinions from the facts, especially if you fact check the details. From personal experience, the media which Trump is calling "Fake News" is typically only filtered or opinionated. I've never really caught any of those media companies pushing news that was actually fake.

      Unlike Breitbart, which has been caught completely fabricating critical details multiple times, but it's not as bad as thegatewaypundit, which is a vomiting troll doll dressed up to be a "News Website."

      @raphjd:

      I am living in the UK because of illegals getting priority in the immigration queue over my now husband who went the legal route.   I moved to the UK the legal way.

      Well, if the plan is that you both move to the US, he better hurry up or pray he gets through soon, some senators want to cut issued green cards by 50%. (Assuming I understand what you are saying correctly… Meaning; you have duel citizenship, he only has UK citizenship, and is trying to get a green card.)

      As far as the person attack comment, give me a break, you've been attacking me all over the place. I wouldn't be saying shit to you, if you weren't.

    • RE: Underground network readies homes to hide undocumented immigrants

      @Eridanos:

      Anyways…don't you think it would have been better to...I don't know...keep this shit secret? But they gave out names, so ICE could pinpoint where are the safehouses and just wait for one of the migrants to go out. I thought the idea of a 'safe house' involved it being somewhat secret.

      Is people dumb or starved for fame? My guess is both (we're talking about religious wacko people after all)

      Depends on your point of view but if you are for people doing this, then yes it was kind of stupid to put it into the open. They did keep the locations secret but some of the people put their names and faces out there, which wasn't a good idea for them.
