Certainly there are those who want to ignore the racial component of these "requirements" - I'll grant that the Jim Crow nature is reasonably well hidden (the Civil Rights Act of 1960 required a LOT of Jim Crow laws be re-written to HIDE their intent... but the effect is the same.

As for the comment about "poor-white-trash"... that was hyperbole in the form of sarcasm....

Apparently, the case law is clearly on the side of PV on this topic. Also, the various appeals by NYT in this case, the judges have sided with PV.

NYT is citing the law on anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) to prevent this lawsuit. Every court ruling so far, in this case, the judges sided with PV, stating that the lawsuit has nothing to do with SLAPP, but rather "cloaking opinion as fact in an attempt to harm another party".

Make no mistake, the courts have not ruled that PV is correct in the case, but that that is what the lawsuit claims, which makes it a legal lawsuit regardless of SLAPP.

And I especially appreciated the last point of clarification: that the PV suit can go forward is not an indication of the validity of their case, only that the issue is a relevant one and both sides need to be heard.

IMHO the NYT gets full of itself at times... being brought down a peg would not be a bad thing!

Mind you, I do not agree with PV's tactics - and I'm frankly shocked that there hasn't been a liberal counter-punch to it - but that doesn't mean the NYT didn't act wrongly here...

Ah, you have 1 thing.

I didn't join the Scottish program because there is no data deletion mandate for the program.

Also, despite data protection laws, there is no protection that our data would not be used outside of the Track and Trace program and who would be able to access it.

As we discussed, the Scottish government has lied before about protecting our data and then selling it on to 3rd parties or using it across governmental bodies in violation of the law.

I said months ago that Gov "Kiss me" Cuomo in NY was in trouble, and while I could not care less about how CNN covered it, they did - and in the days BEFORE his resignation, they highlighted other DEMS asking him to resign and lambasted his stipid and ill-advised responses and counter-claims. I said months ago that Biden's wild-ass spending would spur inflation like we haven't seen since the 1970s - and its starting, and CNN (again, only because they're your own personal whipping-boy) seems to be agreeing: see for yourself

Mind you, I didn't say that Cuomo was the worst Governor since George Wallace - just that he was an abuser and that his personal behavior was going to cost him his position. I also didn't make shit up, like claiming he repeatedly RAPED these women, or that he ENSLAVED them for his sexual games... no, just the facts: women made claims that he kissed them and groped them without clear consent, and that he TRIED to gain their consent to go further and failed.... but given the power imbalance, even his unwelcome touching and kissing was too much - and in the me-too world, it was enough to get him out.
