Don't lie.
You downplayed BLM's action because you wanted to claim that 6 Jan 2021 was the worst thing to ever happen to the US.
I haven't downplayed BLM - but I didn't have the visceral & vitriolic reaction you did... so I can understand your confusion.
Due to your ex being black, you believe all the crap spewed by the left about racism. You people ignore facts, such as those posted by the DOJ/FBI because they don't suit your narrative. St Obama's DOJ/FBI proved without a doubt that "hands up, don't shoot" was a total fucking lie, yet you people keep spewing it.
I haven't ever, personally, in my life, attended a protest or a march. Pride parades? sure! Protests? Not so much... so please be careful with that you crap.
I can't help it if you're a tired, scared little white man - afraid of the truth. But I've never attempted to extrapolate the bigotry my ex and I personally experienced. Is it illustrative? sure! It is "proof" of a national problem? Not so much... a handful of cases from Florida (home of Florida Man!) does not a nationwwide-pattern make!
Again, the extrapolation and hyperbole are yours, not mine.
My mixed-race sister hates BLM and blactivists because they are liars and so are their supporters.
BLM is a liberal organization. I'm doubting that your sister hates BLM (unless your whole family is as hyper-reactive as you are - which, I admit, is a possibility) - but I join her in not liking the ideas BLM espouses as solutions to the US policing problem... but that's not the point of our disagreement:
I say that they are protesting a real problem, but proposing poor (over-reaching and over-reactive) options to address them. As a libertarian, I agree that policing in the US has evolved in a bad-for-America way. But I don't agree with the liberal approach to solve the problem - throw money at it (or, in this case, take money away from it)... I'm not a liberal - and accepting that there is a valid injustice that a liberal group is protesting doesn't make me a liberal!
You say they are evil incarnate because they are liberal. And, because they are liberal, you don't believe they should even exist, much less protest anything! (Ironic that
YOU are the one who sees everything as "black and white"!
I know, I know, you don't like conservative outlets since they don't spend every minute demonizing Trump and because they talk about "Honest" Joe, Camel Toe, Hunter, and the rest of the dirty liberals you worship so much.
I don't watch TV. I don't have cable, so I cannot watch Fox news, CNN, OAN, or any of the other "major" media outlets for news. I do subscribe to my local newspaper's online edition, as well as the WSJ. I also get news from the BBC and DW.com websites...
Being an expert in absolutely EVERYTHING, you sure don't seem to know much.
I've never claimed to be an expert about everything (actually, unless you're talking about cloud infrastructure, I don't claim to be an expert about anything)... but I usually don't "run my mouth" about things I don't know about - so I can see how the "illusion" of expert could be there - my "truth/fiction" or "right/wrong" ratio is pretty good - because if I don't know, I don't say anything! (NOTICE: I don't reply to all of your threads!)
I'll also say this: I don't often post a lot of "new" ideas on here - at least in the politics section... I'm too busy simply correcting the invalid, factually wrong, incendiary, over-raching posts you make - and that keeps me busy enough! (I'd guess that - maybe - 5% of my posting is my own, original topic)
You didn't know about Joy Reid's blatant lies and homophobia, while still being a media darling of liberal media.
You're right! I'm as clueless about knuckle-headed liberal media "experts" as I am about the Conservative ones... but it's mostly been the Trumpite ones (Tucker?) who have been making headlines themselves lately, and thus, those are the ones I know about... (In the old days, newscasters READ the news... these days, they ARE the news!)
You don't know about the Weather Underground, despite St Obama claiming he got his start in politics sitting on Bill Ayers' living room floor listening to their vision of America. A US President getting his political beliefs from anti-American terrorists.
You're right - I'm not a liberal, and so I didn't follow Obama as an infant until his ascention to the pre-Trumpian Throne of Ultimate Power... I didn't know anything about Obama before he became President, and while I watched the Democratic Convention where he gave the "speech that launched his career", I don't recall it... I watched all of the Conventions back then... maybe I had to use the bathroom.
IMHO, Obama was a liberal President who was too timid and afraid (likely because he was trying too hard to not be only the First Black American President) to enact virtually anything on the liberal agenda beyond the Obamacare legislation. Poor Dems - they held the White House for 8 years and got ONE thing out of it! If only Biden was as timid! (Did you see the $7T budget proposal? WTF! Is there a liberal pet-project he DOESN'T want to fund?)
You don't know about the Weather Underground, despite there being threads about the child raised by the founders of the Weather Underground (parents sent to prison for murder and armed robbery when he was 14 months old) Chesa Boudin who became the San Francisco DA in 2019. He ran on the platform of no bail and no jail. He dropped prosecutions of Jamaica Hampton for assaulting a cop by hitting him in the head with a wine bottle, so they could go after the cop for excessive force. There's plenty more if you care to look it up.
I don't care to look it up... I prefer to focus on defining where we are NOW, and where we can go FROM HERE! History is illustrative, but it also cannot be altered (NOTE to Trumpites: the Jan 6 insurrection was video recorded from literally thousands of sources... you can't re-write this one!).
Apparently, whining about the past is something Trumpites will never tire of... but I do! For example:
Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and their ilk all had slaves - some even brought them to DC with them (as Presidents)... but, no one at the time seemed to care - it was legal, if amoral by today's standards - so what's the big deal? We changed the laws that were unjust. There are still more than need changing, but that's where we are TODAY, and we can do even better TOMORROW
The South
lost the US Civil War - which was very much fought over Slavery. Still, we didn't start erecting monuments to the Confederacy until the 1960's when the Civil Rights movements were taking hold. Revisionist history, as usual, fails in the end: the monuments to the treasonous confederacy are coming back down.
The Republican Party is, indeed, the
Party of Lincoln (a liberal, I might add)... but we're also the party of
other heroes of the American past: Bob Dole, Teddy Roosevelt (another liberal), Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Buzz Aldrin (Astronaut), John McCain, George HW Bush, and many others). Sadly, we are also the party of demons of the American past: Richard Nixon, Calvin Coolidge, Sarah Palin, Joe McCarthy, Dan Quayle, & Newt Gingrich to name a few I'd like to
pretend weren't republicans.
It remains to be seen how Trump will go down in History... after all, if Germany had won WW1, we'd all be speaking German and speculating about the next Kaiser! I don't think Trump will look good through the lens of history.... but that's just my opinion...
The Democratic Party similarly has a list of heroes and villains ... I don't care to list them here, but you can look them up... just as many crooks and kooks as the Republicans (or Whigs, or Greens, or Libertarians!)
The point is, history is in the past and cannot be changed - it can only be learned from! The only thing that REALLY matters is where we go from here... and if you're looking backwards all the time, you're not aware of where you're going!
I know you hate Tucker because he isn't a liberal bitch. You also hate him because he does direct quotes that can be verified, such as Tweets, other social media posts, and video clips from various outlets, including CNN and the floors of both Houses.
I don't use words like hate about people (I hate brussels sprouts, but I do not hate Tucker Carlson)... but Tucker is often wrong, and he violates the very premise I mentioned above: he becomes the news vs. reporting it. That puts him in the company of Rachel Maddow - another "personality" more interested in BEING the news vs reporting it. I have no taste for either...
It's comical how you seem to know everything about QAnon, but nothing about the topics I bring up that makes liberals look bad.
Odd that you think it "funny" that I don't know much about liberals - when the only person who seems to think I'm a liberal is you!
QAnon is an existential threat to the (to MY) Republican Party... that's why I know about them. Democrats are not an existential threat to my party - they're just the opposition. There's always an opposition. They're (Democrats are) misguided and aspirational - but they're not evil. QAnon isn't trying to build anything, they're trying to tear it down! And what they're trying to tear down is US-style Democracy itself!
So, the next time you want to call me a Liberal, consider your own arguments against that fact... hmmmm
I bet you even believe that it's "white supremacy" that is causing blacks to attack asians or that crap from a few years ago where it was claimed by blac-tivists that blacks don't commit crimes, but rather it's whites in black face. After the arrest a few weeks ago, there are now 3 recorded cases of blacks in whiteface and 1 case of a white in blackface. Of course, you believe that it's only ever whites in blackface.
Wow - blacks committing crimes in "white-face"? Really? What criminal moron-mind would do that when a simple mask and long-sleeves does the trick? (You don't have to answer that - there are truly VERY FEW criminals who have "intelligence" going for them...)
Also, what criminal is disguising themselves "as part of the culture war - black vs. white"... really? The thought process is something akin to: I'm gonna do this crime and I'm going to pose as someone of the other race so that when I do this, it'll look bad for them?"
