I uses Image Grabber II on Windows Vista, not the first version, nor the .net version on which I had trouble to get it work on Vista.

Uploading a torrent is quite some work, I don't see why someone should do, to then not wanting to finish the job.

Rather than punishment, the first action should be to make the uploader aware that something is wrong and to propose help

In the same sense, every uploader facing unexpected trouble in finish it's upload should contact the Staff (e.g. on the HelpDesk) to see what can bee done. In a first case it could be moved away from the public list, avoiding new leecher to join until a solution and in the worst to delete it.

There is only one thing.
I don't know if that would be too much work for the moderators but I wonder if it makes sense to award the points immediately at approval time.
This uploader (I assume it's the same in all three cases because the uploads are formatted in a similar way) does very well and gets rewarded for uploads meeting most criteria BUT there seem to be problems with his files!
Of course you guys cannot check the quality of the file at approval but waiting 24 hours before awarding the points gives you the opportunity to see the complaints in the comments section.
I haven't downloaded them myself so I can't tell what's wrong. But there seem to be issues.

Attribution these points takes some extra time, going back 24 hours later to rate will require more work either by reviewing a second time or by keeping well organised the results somewhere aside for 24 hours …

In fact we don't rate the files shared with the torrent, only how it is presented.

These work with Image Grabber II, if you have installed a media splitter and codec to play such files or got Windows 7. I guess you have installed such, if not install Haali Media Splitter to open the .mov, .mp4, .mkv files and ffdshow MPEG-4 (or tryouts SVN built) which adds tons of decoding support.

The trick is that Image Grabber II doesn't know these .mov and .mkv extensions to be AV files (certainly because of it's age and no longer supported), but you can select "show all files" or "." as browsing option bottom right of its window.

The first two days of trial show that it is important to practice it, to get a feeling how the set-up works.

The first shows there is a glitch in the Picture section, though there are meaningful contact sheets and a few big pictures (most likely from the site), as per the check list, no point is rewarded. I felt it should get a point for "a few good picture". Can someone help to phrase "some good pictures" in something more objective?

I feel as well, that for some items, points should not be given, but rather deducted from the elsewise given points:

for having the title and/or description in ALL CAPITALS
for having the "�" sign in the title or description
for asking for Seed Bonus Points

That would give the room for more 3 more "Picture" items

Fully right, there was just a bad example this morning. I'll need to see how this can be built-in, without exceeding 20 points. I can't effort more, they will melt like ice cream in the sun.

BTW Xenu is right, the count to 20 got some bugs depending if porn, collection or themed movie.

UPDATE: With the latest revised list, between 23 and 17 items can be meat:

Yes, the standard isn't met fully.

This is to indicate from what type of support the file was created. DVD, website download, analogue video tape, analogue or digital TV recording etc… This can be done by words or by the tags of the Table Q Quality and Origin (move the mouse on the tags to see more information in that table). Together with information of the resolution, codec and bit rates, it gives some indicator to the picture quality which can be expected.

The idea behind is that if in the torrent's files (the files share by the help of the torrent) are more than 10 pictures, these are provided in as an archive file (ZIP, RAR, …) in order not to clutter the file list and make identifying the movie or clips difficult. I think as well to add or combine a point for having provided the description pictures within the torrent's files (therefore without "gaytorrent.ru" imposed) at least for the full DVD cover if DVD format video.

Could be included in the torrent's files, however as they are banned here, I don't like to give points specifically for such images.

Except DVD Video, I have no issue to create a contact sheet with Image Grabber II from any format. Which doesn't work for you? For DVD Video, VLC or MPC should allow to make contact sheets

You will see as comment to each (by me) reviewed and rewarded torrent the Well Prepared Torrent Upload Reward Check List. This makes transparent for what a point has been given and for what not.

The criteria may be adjusted as per the different contributions made here. The initial post will be revised accordingly. Remember, this is qualified a trial.

No one is taken anything, every one has the possibility to get extra points. If some torrents can't reach the maximum 20 points because of their type, possible.

See there for an example of 32 tumbnails on a contact sheet in quarter SD resolution > http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=110239 actually I see it got resized to 1023 pixel width, which means less per row and more rows would be better. The manual upload software seems to resize the big picture expanded to meat 1023 pixel width max. and 179 pixel width always for the thumnail preview on the description page. From this can be deducted that 240 width per thumbnail should be a better value, unless you think the thumbnails in the example are too small

Yes. I am uncertain if "5" should not be better "7" and the count exclude the tags in the "Quality" table. 2 points for tags may look much, but we need the tagging system to take off**

This is a private action of a member, being by coincidence Moderator. This is not a common Staff activity.

Any member could launch such reward programme using his own seed bonus points, granting them to new torrents appearing in the list following his own sheme

Actually that statement is technically wrong. Seeding will continue to leecher known by the torrent client. Only no upload credit to the statistics on the tracker will be given after a complete tracker cycle passed.

As this concerns only a very particular case of seeding and ratio controlled tracker, and even not always, the best will be that the effected uploader gives a PM to the jumping on member explaining why currently his seeding is doing a harm to him.

I am convinced that the majority will understand (perhaps too late for this occasion, but for future) and didn't had ever a bad intention[/off-topic]

For sure, some Auto Approval privilege members got room to improve their uploads. However, this trial will be limited to torrents (I) reviewed from 1st of July onwards, just because of not creating too much extra work. Torrents to be approved are reviewed anyway. I don' want to inspect Auto Approval members uploads in addition. Our 'free" time here is not endlessly extensible.

After following the exchange for some time, first thinking that a scheme of objective criteria is impossible, I am now convinced something can be worked out and will give it a trial.

Therefore, I'll work out a list of criteria for good uploads allowing to gain up to 10 Seed Bonus Points extra from me when I reviewed a torrent.

This list will be made available in the Forum and to each torrent granted (or not) Seed Bonus Points following it's scheme, the attribution will be added as a comment. This way, it will fully transparent to members and uploaders.

Sorry, Auto Approval privilege uploads aren't reviewed and therefore can't get these few extra points. Please understand this not as a punishment, but as a teaching programme to become good uploader and get the Auto Approval privilege.

This trial, not requiring a system change, will start as of 1st of July 2011 and limited to 3 months. More will be published in an own topic. Where feedback will be welcome.

kind not to be "charged" for something we gave to the site.

To avoid confusion, that wasn't said by a member of the GayTorrent.ru Staff, but a very experienced member.

As far as I understand that remark, it just want to explain why technically own new torrents are more beneficial for share ratio than downloading something and redistribute it.
