      This is an interesting case …

      Could you please verify in your BitTorrent programme on the torrent of which you say to have uploaded 15 GB in the lower window part with the torrent's details in the line with the tracker announce URL:
      1.) That the tracker is either https://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/…, http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru:2710/… or http://tracker.gaytorrent.tw:2710/…
      2.) That then follows a long sequence of letters and number (don't mention that sequence here, it is your secrete passkey)
      3.) What is mentioned in the "Status" column there.

      Now your Profile shows that you've completed to download only two torrents, one of about 330 MB back in May and another, the freeleech you've mentioned, recently. The first could hardly have made 15 GB upload, because it was completed after you by only 4 members.

      BUT your Profile shows much higher download and I'm wondering what torrent that could be. Could you please force its start in your BitTorrent?

      Actually there are two things that must match:

      • the torrent's hash
      • the tracker URL including a valid passkey

      When downloading a torrent, it gets the tracker URL with the downloading member's passkey inserted into the information contained in the .torrent file

      However, assuming it is a same hash torrent, the tracker URL can be edited, so it contains a passkey. Most torrent clients have functions to edit the tracker URLs, or there are "Torrent Editors", including online. So downloading it is not the "only" way to get the right tracker URL with a valid passkey.

      BitComet, due to historic reasons*, has been banned by many private trackers. So I suspect it to have a function to send fake peer IDs (which contain the client code at its start) and client IDs.

      I guess I'll need to install BitComet on two devices for testing.

      As far as I can see, Fappydave uses most of the time a seedbox and sometimes BitComet, supposedly from home.

      Now a question @__Fappydave__:

      Have you activated in BitComet the "Torrent Exchange" feature?

      I'm not 100% sure, but think that feature exchanges .torrent files, including private, with other BitComet users and that way leaks the passkey contained in the tracker announce URL. (That is why GayTorent.ru prohibits uploading of its torrents to other trackers, but asks to create a new torrent for that tracker)

      You can as well look to your completed download history, if there are torrents you are sure not to have downloaded, it means your passkey leaked (there are other ways than Bitcomet's "Torrent Exchange") and you really should reset your passkey.

      Actually my question was directed to DilfLover1.

      Yes, I've had randomly that with µTorrent 3.x versions, but not since a while using on that installation the latest stable versions of the 3.x versions. At that time restart µTorrent was the solution or removing re-adding the torrent.

      On those which display "Finding peers", can you have a look in the lower µTorrent (or BitTorrent) window part with the torrent details under the "trackers" tab for the status in the line with the tracker announce URL.

      What does it say there?

      I've just corrected a false answer and reminded the rules which reign this place. It was not meant as a threat.

      Just to repeat: Torrents of which you know that they have been removed for alleged copyright infringement must not be uploaded again. Period.

      The GayTorrent.ru rules about disabling repeated infringer are the result of law (for example the DMCA and other similar laws in other countries than the US), requiring service providers with user generated content to have such provision, among others, if they don't want to become liable themselves.

      As for the aspect if porn can be copyrighted, as said it depends on the jurisdiction. I don't know if there is existing a higher court judgement in the US, but for example in a case in a lower German court it was denied:

      In Article I, Section 8, the Constitution states that "Congress shall have the power...To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries"

      But anyway, that is secondary, because GayTorrent.ru takes down even torrents used to share porn and got a repeated infringer banning process in place.


      A last word: Do not call moderators "hypocrite", even if you think they are... other moderators might not have a thick thin and see it as disregard of this rule:

      Re-uploading something which (is known) to have been taken down because of alleged copyright infringement is just harming the community here. The reason is simple:
      It will be found again by the copyright owner or its authorised agent(s), then taken down again. This will leave many members with (partial) downloads they can't (use and) share back over time, hit their ratio and ability to download other things.

      Personally I'd like to see more transparency on what is taken down, so that members could better consider what to share and what not.

      Please understand that moderators here (for example me) are just members of GayTorrent.ru, but volunteering their free time to help other members and enforce the site's rules.

      I think it is important to point out the risk in getting banned for repeated alleged (and not disputed) copyright infringement.

      Basically every original video production got copyright* and that includes true amateur productions.

      Any holder of copyright who cares can find what is available at GayTorrent.ru, because the torrent list is indexed by Google (and other search engines). I think what you call "copyright trolls" are mostly authorized agents of copyright owners. As far as I know, if these send e-mails with proper "bulk" DMCA takedown notices, those are taken down.

      There was a big "clean-up" made in early 2013 and I think the graph there speaks for itself:

      • = there are limits of what can be protected by copyright though and there are some views that porn can't be protected, but that is a subject on its own and depends on the jurisdiction, too.

      That is what YOU assume. GayTorrent.ru is processing quickly any copyright takedown notice. There should be no torrent about which it is actually known to have files in its file list which distribution infringe copyright at GayTorrent.ru.

      The percentage of torrents ask to taken down based on copyright is far below the majority of uploads. It is not GayTorrent.ru claiming any copyright nor me.

      Some members will prefer small file size over quality for bandwidth and storage space requirements.

      Others will prefer a certain format and codec set, because of the used playback device and/or software.

      Others again just want the best possible quality…

      Can you have a look to those seeding from GayTorrent.ru if there are any which have selected to download only a fart of the files in the torrent's file list?

      Or if next to your name in "Welcome back, …" left from the down arrow on GayTorrent.ru is a number other than zero, please?

      A last question: Does your µTorrent run all the time 24/7 ?


      There was recently another similar case and while I know a fix, it would be good the SysOps could have a look, because it might be a more general issue... and then you running all time would help.

      If you see such message from the tracker (to many downloads, or as well time outs), what you can do to have your upload and download tracked is the following:

      1. Do not stop that torrent and keep the torrent programme (e.g. µTorrent) running. If you stop it's over.
      2. Stop other downloading torrents from the same tracker, that will free slots to connect to the tracker
      3. Try to update the tracker for the red torrent after having stopped other 'green' downloaing. There is a minimum time between tracker updates, the function is greyed out if an update was attempted recently, you may need to wait a few minutes. In µTorrent it is on the drop down list on that torrent in the torrent list, the before last item of the drop down list.

      Members need to understand that it is their downloads which will generate uploads for others and that high ratio is not a purpose on its own. Even assuming the highest minimum ratio requirement of 0.800 it means downloads will generate upload at other members allowing to download 1.25 times of that.

      So what we need are members with high share ratio and high absolute values (ratio above lets say 2.000 and upload above 50 GB) are starting actually to download.

      It is not helpful to the community to try to have skyscraper high ratio, ratios between 0.8 and 1.25 are much healthier.

      In short: We need more downloads!

      Why are finished partial downloaded torrents still count as downloading when seeded?

      Because a seeder can only be someone who got 100% of a torrent's data file list and the torrent protocol knows two types of peers, those who got all (seeder) and others (downloading peers) and as some one who hasn't got all can't be seeder he is put to the others by the tracker.

      Yes, the two other torrents have been deleted.

      Regarding the not registered upload, sorry, I'm not sure about the details of the tracker software. The only chance to have the statistics updated is to not stop the torrent in the torrent client. as long as the tracker has kept the torrent and "peer" (that's your torrent client's peer id) in the tracking list it will update the statistics with all the delta upload and download since the last successful connection on the next successful connection.

      What I don't know is how long it takes until a torrent and peer is dropped from the tracking list and if a tracker connection with refused update resets that counter. However in your case on that torrent, I see that the tracker restarted tracking at zero, so it is too late.
