    • RE: What is the goal for making a torrent freeleech ?

Freeleech torrents are a pretty simple affair, with a "reward" not so well defined, really…

If a member has spare bonus points (ie the member has a great ratio, and doesn't need to use the bonus points to trade in for upload credit, to improve his ratio) he can use the bonus points to make any torrent older than a week into a freeleech torrent.

Whoever is seeding that torrent, from that point on, would be earning upload credit, same as the normal situation.

While the torrent remains a freeleech torrent, downloading of that torrent does not count against a member's ratio (no download debit is applied, for that freeleech torrent).

After the freeleech period of the torrent expires, however, the {continued} download then counts against a member's ratio, just as normal.

I see this action of a member making a torrent freeleech more as a "gift", as I can't really see how to make this "cost effective", for a member, where they would earn as much upload credit, for making a torrent freeleech, as it "cost" to have made it freeleech, in the first place.

One possible exception to this might be... where you were the ONLY seeder of a certain torrent... and you decided to make it freeleech... then the torrent would become very popular very quickly, and as long as you happened to remain the sole seeder of that torrent... yes, you'd be earning ALL of the upload credit.

      Hope this helps!

    • ANGER MANAGEMENT, when leaving comments in Torrent presentations:

On almost a daily basis, we have members… reporting OTHER members, to report hostile and rude comments left on torrents!!!

This is crazy!!! My GOD, what are we DOING here?  Sharing GAY PORN and GAY THEMED MOVIES!!! (for the most part).

WHY the anger?  WHY the hostility?  WHY the rudeness?  WHY the vulgarity?? WHY the obscenity?

Leaving an angry hostile comment on a torrent... hardly ever ends well.

When reported to Staff, we are tasked with having to take precious time out, to try and address the situation.

And HOW, exactly, does this get resolved, by staff?

By staff formula, we usually give a verbal warning to the hostile member, first either as an additional comment, or a Private message, or both. At the same time, this warning, and the background situation (exact copies of the problem comments / PM correspondence) are entered into the member's account history, and within the Private Message, it is explained that this is a FIRST WARNING, and future violations will result in having their accounts put into temporary Warned Status.

Now this is where things often get interesting, (not to mention shocking!)!

There's such an easy simple solution, which, for some reason, only about 10% of our members seem to grasp... and that is this: A simple sincere apology fixes everything, and cleans the slate, and the member's account history is updated with the lovely apology!!! (Of course, entire event, and the first warning remains in the member's history)

HOWEVER!!! All too often, the member decides that somehow it's a GOOD IDEA to NOW lash out with anger and hostility, to the staff member!!! This, in itself, is a Rules Violation, and is guaranteed to push the situation into actual Warned Status.

This starts with a ONE day Warned Status, (during which most site functions are blocked to the member.) If the situation continues to spiral downward, (IE the member CONTINUES to lash out to staff with anger, hostility, vulgarities, and worse!) it moves to the next levels, possibly THREE days, FIVE days, 1 WEEK, 2 WEEKS, 4 WEEKS, 8 WEEKS, and then… UNLIMITED. If the member gets insanely crazed... it's up to staff's decision whether or not to skip some levels, to higher levels, including banning the account, depending on how insane the situation has become. This is SO SAD, and I personally HATE it when this occurs.

Yet... it seems to happen... regularly, once or twice a month, at least.

It just happened again, yesterday. And genuinely, I'm SO HAPPY to say that the member (who had started out with SUCH anger and hostility) defused it so beautifully, with a lovely apology...

I've taken the liberty of taking some of what I wrote this lovely member... as the following foundation, for this forum topic, as follows:

We all have lapses of good judgement, and bursts of anger; I think that it's best to try to do what I try to do, when angry: wait 1/2 hour before responding to something like this.

What we're trying to do our best to recommend here, when leaving comments on Torrents... at GayTorrent.ru, are the following:

      1. Try to keep the environment here as light and peaceful, as possible.

      2. Actually download a video before either complaining about it, and/or reporting it to staff.

      3. remember that any member can post pictures to a torrent presentation, so don't rely on pictures as being either representative of the video contents, NOR assume the original uploader was the person who unloaded (OFTEN WRONG and OFTEN MISLEADING) photos, that get attached to torrent presentation (that has managed to piss you off, or frustrate you to the point of lashing out, in an hasty "outburst".)

      4. If reporting a torrent to the staff, please be polite and respectful.

As I tried to explain above... and as I told this member today... As for your member account history... it will always contain the original offending content, but (the good news) it will contain the sincere apology too, pretty much managing to cancel things out (although this issue DOES still stand as the "First Warning"; it's a verbal warning only. (at this point in time).

Major Hugz, and please do try to keep this a pleasant place, for all of our members, into the future.

    • Default uTorrent Settings –RECOMMENDATIONS--

While I'm sure MANY members will have their own opinion on this, and quite possibly have some STRONG disagreements with my recommendations of Default uTorrent settings… I'm only focusing here on ways for members to avoid the DAILY BARRAGE of traps our members seem to write the help desk for help about...

...such as uploads failing to seed, and uploading damaged (partly downloaded videos), just to mention a couple.

      Note that these Preferences menus reflect what I see in my "uTorrent Classic" version 2.2.1 build 25302, as we recommend our member use;
      ....see here: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=22654.0

You're welcome to chime in, with replies, and I MAY end up considering adding or modifying some of my recommendations... maybe!

      Here goes!!

      =======================================================================================

While most of uTorrent's default settings are fine, I DO recommend the following settings:

General menu: CHECK "Append .!ut to incomplete files"   to prevent accidental uploading of incomplete videos

UI Settings: CHECK "Confirm when deleting torrents"   to prevent accidental deletion of all your downloads
          Under "When Adding Torrents:
CHECK "Don't start the download automatically"  to allow you to confirm file location is correct
CHECK "Show a window that displays the files inside the torrent"   to allow you to skip some videos

Directories: CHECK "Put new downloads in:"   to allow you to specify exactly WHERE you want to store downloaded videos
CHECK "Store .torrents in:"     to allow you to specify exactly WHERE you want to store downloaded .torrent files

Connection:  CHECK "Enable UPnP port mapping"   facilitates port forwarding
CHECK "Enable NAT-PMP port mapping"   same as above
UNCHECK "Randomize port each start"   if you've manually set up the forwarded port in your modem, this is needed.
CHECK "Add Windows Firewall exception   good to not have Windows decide to block any of uTorrent's actions, eh?

Queueing:    Set "Maximum number of active torrents (upload or download):" as needed; I use 500
Set "Maximum number of active downloads:" as needed, to prevent download queuing; I use 50

If manually uploading torrents, in the Add New Torrent window:
UNCHECK the "Start torrent" setting...   Allows you to confirm the "Save As" file location is correct, prior to each uploading.

Note too that uTorrent has the nasty behavior of saying it's FULLY downloaded a file... when in fact it's only PARTIALLY downloaded. This contributes to a LOT of defective videos getting uploaded on our site. REMEDY? After uTorrent say's it's finished downloading a torrent, STOP the torrent, then RIGHT-CLICK on the torrent, and select "Force Recheck". It SHOULD check to 100%, if all is well. If it ForceChecks to less than 100%, RESTART the torrent, and repeat this cycle. NOTE that this MAY eventually necessitate you needing to delete ONE of the TWO file names that are the same, except that one ends in .!ut  ...DELETE the OLDER of the two files, in question, then run another FORCE CHECK and Start the torrent again, to complete the download. ALWAYS RUN A FORCE CHECK ON ANY "COMPLETED" TORRENT, to check that it finished downloading correctly.

    • RE: Hey guys what is the most effiecient way to get seedpoints?

Upload your OWN torrent. It's easy to do, (just make sure it is not a duplicate) and then all that upload data credit is YOURS…at least until other seeders join in 🙂

DO NOT STOP your torrent nor torrent client, after uploading completes. KEEP IT RUNNING, so you can continue seeding to the next members who want this video, and help improve your ratio.

If it's your FIRST successful upload, you can request to be rewarded with a 600 Bonus Point AWARD(!!!) which can be traded in for 10GB of UPLOAD CREDIT!!! Here's the link to the forum topic that covers the rules and procedures for the FTU (First Time Uploaders) program:
      https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=20636.0
It also includes the link to the FTU moderator, so you can PM him with the details of your first successful upload (as required, to receive your credit).

If you ever wish to earn upload credit for reseeding videos (where you already have the video on your hard drive), the illustrated procedure is here:  https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=6539.0

The best way to continue to earn upload credit is to seed EVERYTHING you download, forever. This means DO NOT STOP your torrent nor torrent client, after downloading completes. KEEP IT RUNNING, so it can seed to the next member who wants this video, and help improve your ratio. While continuing to seed, you'll be earning a bonus point every two hours you offer to seed, regardless of whether other members are downloading from you or not.

Initially choose only new torrents to download that seem popular, to insure that you will have others downloading (from you, to raise your ratio) after you finish. Our site runs a bit different than other torrent sharing porn sites, because of the vast number of new torrents that get uploaded every day. This tends to make the "popularity" of new torrents be rather short-lived; thus you need to really choose VERY RECENT torrents to download, to share, when trying to repair your ratio.

Freeleech Torrents can be downloaded without affecting your ratio. Even with download rights taken away, you can download any freeleech torrent, as long as it stays freeleech: Torrents which are freeleech will give you whatever you upload added to your ratio… but the size of the movie wont be added to your download, which means that it will only be a positive effect on your ratio (or neutral, if you dont upload anything at all). Do note: if the freeleech timer runs out however, whatever's left on the torrent will be added to your ratio.

Here's the current list of freeleech torrents; They have NO negative effect on your ratio, as long as they remain free leech, however they do tend to have MANY seeders:
      https://www.gaytorrent.ru/browse.php?showsearch=1&infl=1

After you download, in order to earn upload credit (sharing) you must keep the torrents running, keep your torrent client program running, and your computer turned on and connected to the internet, preferably ALL the time, if at all possible.

You can also perform many tasks here on the board in order to earn Bonus Points, which can be traded in for Upload credit to improve your ratio. If you click on your Ratio: ( https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rationator.php ) you will see many various ways to earn Bonus Points, besides getting a detailed explanation on how your Ratio is maintained.

Thanks, the older version is a lot better!!!

Indeed, the current version might as well be called malware, with those fucked up windows popping up all the time.

Many years ago, I thought I had been hacked, or had a virus!!! It was uTorrent, all along.

Many Internet searches later… hours spent researching this... I discovered "uTorrent Classic".

      Version 2.2.1, build 25302.

And... all was well, the kingdom prospered, and the people lived happily ever after.

    • RE: Problem with Safari

      Hi,

It sounds like you've got some form of anonymous browsing setting activated in your Safari browser.

      See:  https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/how-to-private-browsing-safari

Turn on Private Browsing on the Mac

      Hold down Command+Shift+N. …
Search or browse the web as you normally would. ...
Close the window when you're done with private browsing.
Tap the Pages button, which is shaped as two squares in Safari's menu.
          Tap Private.
Tap the Search field to search for a site to visit.

Secondly "right clicking on a link and select 'open in a new incognito tab' " will always result this way, since incognitio tabs are sans remembered member name / password...

Same reason I cannot tweet from an article I've opened in an "Incognito Tab", since my twitter user name and password are not remembered within incognito tabs, by design.

      Hope this helps!

    • RE: Snatching

I think it's fair to say that this means you downloaded the .torrent file… but you never fully downloaded the entire CONTENTS of what was referenced in that .torrent file.

Skipping portions of the .torrent offerings could result in this occurring.

Upon 100% completion of a download, your Torrent Client program reports back to our Tracker Server that you've successfully downloaded, AKA "snatched", that file.

Considering (at least the AMERICAN vulgar meaning of "snatch") I've never personally much cared for that term we use here, as you could say I'm not what you'd consider a big fan of women's vaginas, eh?  :afr:

Right, as kalayaan explained above there were already ten uploaded pictures (which were hidden from public view, since they were awaiting moderator approval, which occasionally takes 1 or 2 days before staff finds time and motivation to perform that task…) ...which blocked you from uploading additional pictures, by site design.

Regarding deleting your own forum topics, yes, members are blocked from removing forum topics… but you can request your topic be removed, via the helpdesk.
