    • RE: Possible Planet 9\. And 10 ?

It comes down to what the definition of a planet is.

With Pluto I think they just got sick of having to use the phrase 'except Pluto':  The orbits of the planets do not overlap - except Pluto, the orbits of the planets are on the same plane - except Pluto….

The next planet-like object further out from Pluto is Sedna.

    • RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it

I saw the original (Japanese print) of Godzilla yesterday.

First the bad:  It's a black and white movie where many of the scenes with natural lighting are difficult to see, Godzilla was screamingly obvious as a man in a rubber suit, likewise the models looked like toys, and referring to the Age of Dinosaurs as being 2 million years ago grated.

Second the good:  There have been a lot of Godzilla films so I had low expectations about 'big monster rampage movie'.  It not that at all.  Godzilla shows up very late in the movie and is (blessedly) only on screen for a fairly short period of time.  The focus of the movie is how the deaths and destruction affected the Japanese people.  Characters talk about the evacuation of Nagasaki and the destruction of Hiroshima.  There's one particularly touching scene where a woman is holding her three young daughters and telling them that "we'll all soon be with Daddy".  There's some real emotion connected to the evacuations and hospital scenes.  Some of the actors were very good.  One of the main characters, Ogata played by Akira Takarada, was definite eye candy.

Third, my recommendation:  This is likely going to be a film that only film buffs will like.  But if you are a fan of the history of film you must see this movie.

I went to my big gay choir rehearsal.  I had hot apple cider.  the choir had a costume contest.  While there was a street party outside I just headed home.

    • RE: Is Cory Feldman responsible to lead a charge against pedophilia in Hollywood?

      Under Canadian Law.

14 year olds are capable of consenting to having sex with older people - providing there is no relationship where the older person can exploit the younger one:  his teacher, his hockey coach, his boss, his doctor, his landlord (or the parents landlord.)

If Kevin Spacey had asked Anthony Rapp to have sex it would have been legal under Canadian law.  They were acquaintances.  Grabbing someone, throwing them on a bed, then jumping on top of them without their prior knowledge AND consent is assault no matter what the age.

When they die young, too many of them but not all of them do, it's almost always connected to drugs or depression.

This is the thing I appreciate about Cliff Jensen - who is in a relationship with a woman in RL.
He always focuses on his partner and seems to be enjoying himself.  I don't know if he's Bi or just being professional but he is enjoyable to watch since he's engaged.

They'd decided to cancel House of Cards three months ago.
They are cynically using Kevin Spacey's scandal to make themselves look virtuous.

A lot of straight women watch gay porn just as much as straight men watch lesbian porn.

I've seen stills of a sex scene in Arcade on Route 9 with Matthew Matters and Brett Anderson that they've never released.  It annoys me when Daddy/Son fantasy videos don't have Daddy/Son scene.

I'm not sure how your first paragraph ties into sexual rape/sexual assault unless you're saying that paedophilia is a form of power abuse. I think the current thinking is that it's a sexual orientation.

I said precisely that 'paedophilia' is an attraction not an act.  If it is not an act it should not be a crime.  Paedophilia or heterosexuality or homosexuality or as-far-as-that-goes liking money are internal.  Only actions should be criminalized.

The example that has burst out on the Internet was the accusation that Kevin Spacey assaulted Anthony Rapp.  Kevin invited Anthony to a party where when they were alone, with neither the consent nor the prior knowledge of Anthony, threw him down on a bed and climbed on top of him.  It would still be a problem had Anthony been an adult rather than a 14 year old at the time.

There's a broad conflation between attraction and assault that has to be decoupled.

I just saw Bladerunner 2049 and this one i can rate simply.  65%.

Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, and Sylvia Hoeks acted very well.  I was impressed by how mechanic/robotic the movement of Ryan was.

The world-building was internally incoherent.  Some of the motivations were just plain stupid.

The ending did not work for me at all.

    • Nanowrimo starts at midnight

"National Novel Writing Month", which is actually international but they don't want to rebrand, starts at midnight tonight.

Tens of thousands of people across the world will attempt to write 50,000 words toward a book during the month of November.  This is my fourth year participating.

Is anyone else here planning on it?  What would you be writing?  Let's talk about how it's going.

      That needs a cost/benefit analysis.

There's a new flavour of milkshake that I may or may not like for $3.  I'll try it out.
Someone on line says they like me, I'm not moving to a foreign country before I've met them.  (One of my friends has done this.  TWICE)

      Trick or treat.

    • RE: Is Cory Feldman responsible to lead a charge against pedophilia in Hollywood?

Perhaps I've misunderstood.  Any clarification is welcomed.

      Some clarifications:

Paedophilia is a sexual attraction to children.  Outside of 1984, societies don't prosecute 'Thought Crimes'.  Like with Weinstein, he isn't being charged with being 'Heterosexual' AKA attracted to women but for sexually humiliating and assaulting women.

Rape and sexual assault tend to be about power.  I'm attracted to men but I don't drug or rape men.  It's more common for a man to be sexually assaulted, even raped, by a straight man than by a gay man. (Based on extensive research from prisons and war zones.)  Rape and other forms of sexual assault are expressions of power rather than desire.  The media conflates showing attraction to someone with demonstrating power over them.  We need to talk about this.

"Hi, would you like to go out on a date sometime?" changes when there is a stated/implied "or I'll destroy your reputation/you'll be fired."  We need to talk about this.

A lot of people argue that if a man is attracted to someone then he can't control his instinct to rape.  ie Radical Muslims who demand woman cover every visible bit of their flesh, judges who say that a woman wearing a t-shirt was 'asking for it', and homophobes who say gay men can't be soldiers/teachers/athletes/clergy since we are male-rapists awaiting the opportunity.

We need to talk about sexual assault as an action of power.

Corey Haim had also come forward with details about having been molested as a young actor in Hollywood.

Maybe if child molestation (not paedophilia) weren't an unspeakable crime we could discuss it.
