    • RE: Should I or shouldn't I? (a game)

It helps me wake-up in the morning or wind-down before going to sleep.

I have an outside concert this Saturday.  When we booked it we had no idea that the temperature would be something like -25.  Should I cancel at the last minute?  (I'm hoping they'll cancel instead.)

Sadly, I'm a homosexual male with no appreciation for Camp… much less Disco.

The closest I come is liking Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown which is more of a Screwball Comedy.

I just saw Coco by Pixar/Disney and thought it was delightful.

The visuals are vibrant and complex without seeming garish or busy.  There are plenty of jokes in the images.  (Especially the references to Frida Kahlo.)

The themes were robust:  being true to oneself while remaining connected to family.  The importance of remembering and being remembered.

I also enjoyed the voice acting by all the characters.

    • RE: Is it better to download a file before you freeleech it or after?

If you download it while it's still on Freeleech it doesn't count against your downloads AND there's a better chance that other people will be downloading from you increasing your own ratio.

      Marry Adam Clayton
Kill anyone who has a name as ridiculous as The Edge.

I just finished watching Doctor Who Christmas Special.  So there are so many Doctors to choice to FMK

Big hands and small feet.  It's difficult and expensive to find shoes that fit and my feet hurt all the time.  Big hands help on playing the piano but have virtually no drawback.

    • RE: The biological basis of human sexual orientation: is there a role for epigenetic

There are some factors that are more important than others.  I kind of worry about WHY people study the origin of homosexuality.

Some gay people study it in the hope that if they can show it is 'biological' then people will accept that it is 'normal'.  Despite the history of discriminating against people for inherited differences like skin colour, hair texture, and gender.

My second year genetics professor at University stated that he hoped they could find a 'gay gene' so that homosexuals could be diagnosed in utero and aborted.  I'm glad that the 'gay gene' has been disproven.

      @blackwing:

So, you're convinced it is largely due to hormone-levels?  ::)

Since the 1990s most of the mainstream researchers talk about the 'homosexualties' rather than 'homosexuality'.  There seem to be many pathways to identifying as gay/lesbian and hormone exposure during pregnancy seems to be one of the possibilities.

It certainly works that way for cows.

    • RE: Happy New Year in my Language

My country, Canada, is also fairly linguistically diverse.  With immigrant and indigenous languages there are currently around 200 languages in the country - mostly immigrant languages with 60 indigenous languages.  While the majority speak English and/or French at least 20% of the country speak a different language at home.
OUt of the 60 Indigenous languages only 3 currently have a robust population of speakers.

I know Rabbis who are enthusiastic Atheists as well.

I do occasionally buy myself treats now and then.  I bought myself a good box of chocolates for Chanukah.  But I think it was good for my health, and bank account, to get my purchases of candy under my control.

    • RE: What kind of music you guys like?

I like a lot of the Baroque and a lot of the 20th century Russian composers.  I'm not as fond of pure Classical or Romantic composers.

I'm hopeful that there's a new generation of artists learning their craft through Youtube.  The music industry can give us Boyband after Boyband but it takes years of work and experimentation to develop someone like a David Bowie.

Fuck - Davy Jones stayed pretty
Marry - Michael Nesmith - his Mom invented Liquid Paper.  He also rocked his hat.
Kill - it would have to be Peter Tork

The Monkees tv show was better than people might think it was and much better than it had to be.  While now-a-days the premise would be simplistic they had used it at the time to make experimental television.

Now for a more recent manufactured Boy Band - the Backstreet Boys:  AJ McLean, Howie D., Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Brian Litrell

    • RE: New Year Resolutions 2018

I save my lofty resolutions for the High Holy Days.  Ritual and daily practice do better in cementing those resolutions; like:  don't reply to anything on the internet with anger, answer personal e-mails within a day, stop buying candy….
