In Canada, each province has its own public healthcare system and its own program to subsidize drug costs.

HIV treatment can be 100% covered or partially covered by the government, depending on the province. Provinces that do not offer full coverage to everyone usually ask for a patient contribution that is based on income. Also, if the person has supplemental health insurance (generally provided through employment benefits), some provinces may ask the private insurance company to pay for the treatment costs first, if they don't, then the government pays for it.

We also have public sexual health clinics and mental health clinics. PrEP is fully covered by some provinces and I believe PEP is covered almost everywhere.

Are these actually a thing? Legit the first time I'm ever hearing about "coming out parties".

Not challenging the statement… I'm genuinely curious. But I never found credible sources to back up the claim with evidence.

I do find the situation in the UK a bit alarming. This predates COVID-19, too many violations of privacy and excessive policing.

I didn't think there was a problem with Nike supporting such causes back then, and looking back I think it brought some awareness of the problem to people who were otherwise oblivious to it. We live in societies driven by consumerism and of all the reasons to buy a product, corporate social responsibility is probably one of the most "noble".

To comment on an older comment about sweatshops, it absolutely is our duty as customers not to compound to global misery by demanding that companies practice corporate social responsibility in their non-marketing activities, such as manufacturing and distribution processes. And yes it is at a minimum hypocritical to praise a marketing campaign based on social responsibility when the company behind it does not practice what it preaches when it comes to its operations. It is very easy to verify the country of origin labelling when buying any product and Google search practices at their manufacturing facilities. You may not be able to control sweatshops but money talks and you can support democratic countries or at least countries that are attempting to improve their situation by making different shopping choices.

I've reported a few torrents on here before – I think these should always be brought up to the attention of the administrators and moderators for investigation. It's a serious crime.

Estava em uma cidade nova, bêbado, saindo de uma balada com uns amigos, e conversando com alguns caras nos aplicativos. Um casal me manda mensagem e convida para uma festinha no apartamento deles.

Beleza, tudo parece muito legítimo, eu vou de táxi no local e quando passo o endereço o taxista pergunta "você não mora aqui, mora?"… Eu respondo que não... aí ele pergunta de novo "sabe como eu sei que você não mora aqui?"... eu já fico meio receoso e tô pensando, gente esse taxista quer me sequestrar... mas ele continua "o endereço que você me passou... é uma área que os turistas geralmente não vão...".

Daí chegamos no endereço, tudo parece até normal, mas o taxista me dá o celular dele e fala "olha, se tiver algum problema, me dá um toque que eu te pego de volta". Bom, entro no apartamento, uma bagunça, chego no quarto e tinha um cara que não tinha absolutamente nada a ver com as fotos que ele me mandou, com cara de estava ali esperando matar alguém... foi bizarro.

Eu saio correndo do apartamento, acho que nunca corri tão rápido na vida, daí no desespero corro pro lado errado do prédio e não consigo encontro as escadas, finalmente encontro uma janela ligando à escadaria de incêndio que fica no lado externo, dou um pulo ali e ligo pro taxista, que me buscou bem ligeiro. Nunca fiquei tão agradecido... :laugh:

Resolvi encontrar um cara num motel no Brasil. No dia estava sem local porque uma amiga estava no meu hotel comigo, então combinamos de rachar o motel. Deixei bem claro que era para ser um negócio meio rápido, entra e sai.

Fui buscá-lo e o endereço literalmente não existia. Foi meio que um alerta ali, mas resolvi esperar. Ele me manda mensagem e diz que errou o endereço (os números das casas eram parecidos, então beleza, deu para relevar). Finalmente cheguei no endereço correto e o cara tava cheirando a pinga. Mas 'bora lá, já tinha dirigido por meia hora e o motel era bem próximo.

Chegando lá o cara pensou que eu era um caixa rápido e começou a mudar o comportamento, falou que queria curtir a noite, mas não tinha dinheiro, eu fui muito claro que não iria beber nada, daí começou a insistir que eu pagasse pelas bebidas, novamente falei que não, daí ele toma a iniciativa de pedir as bebidas mais caras do local e falar que eu tinha que pagar. Foi muito brochante, acabou que não transamos e fui embora.

Em retrospecto, o cara provavelmente tinha um problema sério com alcoolismo, mas o comportamento foi bem abusivo no momento.

To your point about the literal word of god, that is true if you look at the belief system in its entirety but ultimately what matters is how millions of people perceive themselves and project that on to the world.

It is most definitely harder to reconcile who you are and who your belief system wants you to be when the texts are supposed to be the literal word of god and there is an emphasis on being a perfect being. But it is not impossible.

The original question was "Gay and Muslim" and not "Gay and Islam". Followers of other Abrahamic religions reconcile the two things, so why can't individual Muslims? Sure others aren't usually as rigid but does that matter for the individual who is contravening a core portion of their belief system and whose religiosity is questioned by the other followers of said religion? An LGBT-affirming evangelical is still an evangelical even if most of their peers think they're an unbeliever.
