@davis94 This is a subject that has reared it's head several times in the forum in the past, and I have to agree that there does seem to be a lack of information for uploaders in the rules and FAQ. Ihave left comments in the past asking for mods to provide links the section of the rules that warns users of this possibility but have never had a reply.
I'm not an uploader and as such haven't fallen found of this myself, but it seems genuinely unfair to receive multiple bans in this manner. If someone is banned for something they upload this year and then get a second ban for something from 5 years ago I think that's excessive. A second ban for new uploads would still be fair as it could be said the user hasn't learned their lesson. It's not unlike getting written up at work for a mistake, and then getting written up again for making the same mistake years ago when being trained.
The very fact that you got a second strike mere days after your first ban was up does seem suspiciously coincidental though. It's almost as if the person making the DMCA claim was deliberately waiting to issue the next strike, but that's the kind of paranoid thinking probably best left to the P&D forums.
Sadly I don't see things changing anytime soon. DMCA seems like a bit of tightrope to walk, and I rather suspect that the lack of truly open discussion and accessible information pertaining to it's enforcement on the site is intended to protect the site from legal troubles. If so then I'd have to reluctantly support the decision, but it still results in bans for unlucky users which detracts from the site as a whole. Either way you put a target on your back when you upload.
As for deleting your own torrents I don't know if that would be a good thing to allow or not. I could see it being abused. However, you might be able to get the helpdesk to delete them for you, especially if you can show that certain creators are targeting their content. I'd even go so far as to suggest that when you receive a ban notification it could include a list of your past uploads and ask you if you'd like any or all of them removed to avoid further problems.
