    • RE: Does reputation or the thumbs up/down button mean anything to you?

      A complete answer to this is:

      The accumulated "thumbs" mean nothing, since just one person can (and have) hit people with over 20,000 thumbs down without even reading the messages.  However, a thumbs up or down on a SPECIFiC message  can signify whether that message is good or bad if that one message has multiple thumbs.

      The reputation is accumulated over time.  Reputation means a lot, because it shows the credibility of the poster.  It should be noted that the people with the worst red reputations are all notorious moonbat morons who consistently lie, omit facts, and otherwise post fake news.

      Far more important than either of those statistics is to actually READ the messages.  When you see a long green line, stop and read that message.. because it is likely to impart some great wisdom.

      Here's my advice to actors.. instead of being subjected to sexual advances to get a role in a tv show or movie.. hire an agent who is super hot and will put out for you!

      I suppose the actors who said "NO" are the actors who we have never heard of!

      Anybody who doesn't realize that Justin Bieber's career was launched by blowing and taking it up the ass from Usher is just naive.

    • .. and while on the topic of murder…

      Here's two cases that are quite recent:
      First, this woman claimed she was raped.. and shot the rapist in self defense.. but it turned out it was cold-blooded, premeditated murder, and that the rape story was just a fake excuse.  (I wonder how many times this has happened!)
      http://www.recordnet.com/news/20171016/woman-accused-in-shooting-says-she-was-victim-herself

      Then there is this 16 year old animal who doesn't even look human that raped an 81 year old woman, then went next door and murdered a guy for no reason at all.

    • All aboard the Fake News Express!

      The fake news don't just pick on Trump.  They go through cycles of reporting stories on whatever topic will get them viewers and sell newspapers.
      The way they do it is by fabricating stories, enhancing stories, dredging up old stories, or by suddenly taking a temporary interest in a category of stories that they usually ignore completely.

      For a while.. it's the confederate statues and monuments.. then the football players protesting whatever it is they are protesting.. then it's the people that get assaulted on airplanes..  the latest seems to be the wave of sexual predators. Below is a list of 39 accused sexual predators (they forgot to include Kevin Clash (Elmo - hee hee!). 14 of those 40 are of a certain race (if you consider Michael Jackson to be black). But now we have an avalanche of predators being accused such as Harvey Weinstein, Charlie Sheen, Louis CK, Bill Cosby, Dominick Bracia (Corey Haim), Kevin Spacey, George TK, John Podesta, Joe Biden, now it's Benny Medina (Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Gianni Versace (Kevin Sorbo), Ben Affleck, chef John Besh, etc.
      It's also interesting that almost all sexual predators seem to be left wing moonbats…  Two exception to that are Roger Ailes and Bill O'Reilly of Fox.. but there is a LONG list of CNN staffers who were accused of sexual misconduct to offset those two.

      http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5073099/Actor-claims-media-mogul-Benny-Medina-tried-rape-him.html

      http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/25/us/list-of-accused-after-weinstein-scandal-trnd/index.html

      Once the public interest in predators dies down, the fake news media will go back to ignoring them all.

    • RE: Should a porn actor be made to fill their contract?

      @Mcjl:

      From what I understand a contract is a contract and X amount sets the terms of such contract.  I do know someone in the industry and when he went on his own. He HAD to pay out the remaining degrees of said contract.

      That is technically correct.. but there are major exceptions.  If it turns out the contract contains any stipulations that are not legal, then the entire contract is void.  For instance, there is a 24/7 streaming live webcam site similar to the "Big Brother" TV show.  The guys that live there are required to sign a contract that they will stay there for 6 months.  If they leave early, they have to pay $500.  If they don't leave on time, they are charged $50 per day.  However.. the contract is not legal even though it was drawn up by a lawyer.  Therefore it is unenforceable.

      Another example:  if someone signed a contract that stipulated they would sell someone their heart for $1 million.  That contract would also be void.

      In any contract involving porn, just try and enforce it.  A judge would throw it out of court.  That includes copyright issues.

    • RE: Should a porn actor be made to fill their contract?

      @raphjd:

      As to the thread topic;  YES, they should be forced to fulfill their contract.

      They willingly and knowingly signed the contract.

      From what I've read about the porn industry, they don't really have any long term contracts, except "exclusive" ones meaning they can't work for another company while the contract term is valid.

      Bel Ami, for example, doesn't offer long term contracts until they have used the guy in a few videos.   Part of it is in case they decide they don't want to do porn anymore, but also for the obvious business reasons.

      In some cases, that could be a big deal..
      For instance,  performers such as Zeb Atlas, Jeff Stryker, and Rex Chandler have been offered megabucks to take it up the ass on camera.  (Zeb eventually did, Jeff did a dildo and maybe more, Rex did not but sure negotiated it a lot.  I think his price was $250,000).  If some studio is paying out big bucks to promote a performer, they don't want that performer going and working for someone else or even themselves after being built up by someone else.

      True or not, there's no proof. I wish these celebrities would star suing people for liable. People can make up things on a whim.

      Hey, Fred, did you know you sexually assaulted me in 1999? Fuck man, you groped me in a bar. You've probably already forgotten but I'll carry that scar for life.

      The sad thing is, I could say that and people would be obliged to believe me.

      God, I love living in nice, normal Japan.  :blond:

      George Takei used to be a co-host on Howard Stern's show (maybe he still is - I haven't listened to Stern for a LONG time).
      If you heard George on that show, this allegation that he molested a guy is not surprising.

      One thing that George said that surprised me is that he was complaining that his husband Brad is too fat and lazy.  George went on to say that he knows that Brad listens to what he says while on Stern's show, but lies about listening to the show.  He said Brad gets extremely jealous when George chats up other guys.  If you listen to the rivalry between Takei and Shatner.. Shatner comes off as being the credible one.  Shatner basically says he was not aware of any problems at the time when filming Star Trek, and nobody confronted him about it.. and if they were hurt by him being too controlling he is sorry…  and adds that they are both too old to continue dredging up script and screen time disputes from 50 years ago.  They have not got many years left.  Shatner has also pointed out that he barely knew Takei.  Shatner was on the set all day long 6 days a week, while Takei's scenes amounted to about 2 hours one day a week.

      @raphjd:

      Contrast that with a Middle Eastern country or India where women are looked down upon and the gender noticeably flips.

      However, in India women can not legally commit domestic violence or sex crimes.      Back in 2012/13 they tried to change this to equalize the law but feminists from all over the world went nuts.

      I lived in India for half a year, in Hyderabad. Amazing experience.

      I don't know what your point is about India. India makes no effort to bathe itself in western values. Women in India are still burned alive instead of being given a divorce. This might have changed since I was there but I my schoolmate said that women couldn't own land and that it's very difficult for a woman to be the sole proprietor of a business without a man being somehow in perceived control. It would suck to be a low born woman in India.

      People in India make little effort to bathe at all… and Pakistan is much worse.

      @Mcjl:

      The severity of the crime as well.  A 12 yr old murdered his whole family and you think juvenile detention is appropriate? Just curious  .

      Mental hospital…  just like Mike Myers in "Halloween".
      In fact, I can't resist mentioning something.  The movie "Halloween" was a MASSIVE success.  It launched Jamie Lee Curtis' career.  (she is the daughter of Hollywood Royalty Tony Curtis & Janet Leigh).  As a direct result of the success of that movie, another movie was made to showcase Jamie Lee Curtis to cash in on the success of "Halloween".  In that movie the person cast as the psycho killer was replaced at the last moment by some real life lunatic that was an extra on the movie.    This guy was so nuts - in real life - that they would not let him NEAR the other cast members nor talk to them.  This lunatic lingered on for decades living off of money made from doing horror movie conventions, signing autographs, etc.  He was also a notorious drunk.  He was such an arrogant nuicance that he was banned from doing horror show conventions in 2010.  This resulted in that man getting quite desperate, and moved in with his aunt, and then to an apartment that rented for just $409 a month (furnished with shared internet).  This man is the man who ultimatedly committed a murder, which was blamed on the man he convinced to move into that apartment building.. who was convicted of the crime.  Meanwhile, the real psycho committed suicide a few months after the murder.  The jury in the fraudulent trial were never told about this man.  This is the man who also starred in a remake of the movie "Casablanca" and gave a poster to the man framed for the murder... and a photo shop of the man framed was made of the framed man standing in front of that poster before the framed man even moved into that apartment building.  The psycho man convinced the framed man to make a "pretend" horror movie in his apartment, filmed right in front of that Casablanca poster.  Only.. the framed man was drugged, and a real murder was committed.

      So, if not for the movie "Halloween", that framed man would not be in prison over 30 years after the movie "Halloween" came out.

      Creepy isn't it?

      The problem with your point is that a lot of people become believers because they know the parole board loves that.

      If they (parole boards, clemency panels, etc) remove religion from the discussion, then I would tend to agree with you.

      ++++

      Twitter is starting to issue account upgrades to 240 characters.   Of course they are starting with the people they like and working from there.

      Inmates are highly pressured to seek religion.  I don't agree with that approach.  Religion is a panacea for weak minded people.

      I've only encountered a LONG Twitter once.  That surprised me.. I don't see how or why they would increase the limit on some accounts without doing it to all accounts.  Twitter will probably keep Trump restricted to 140.

    • Young murderers… and how the law is applied selectively

      QUITE OFTEN, a minor commits a murder, and is charged AS AN ADULT.  How is that fair?  If a person is of a certain age, they ARE a minor and that should not be set aside.  One reason for that theory is that the rational part of a human brain is not fully developed until about the age of 25  (or in the case of moonbats - never).
      I can think of one case in which a 14 year old boy was playing catch with his 8 year old neighbor with a baseball.  The ball hit the girl in the head and she was bleeding.. and crying.. and screaming.  The boy took her inside his house, and she would not screaming so he tried knocking her out.  This led to her death.  Obviously this killing was not pre-meditated and therefore not 1st degree murder - and he was a minor.. yet he was charged with 1st degree murder as an adult at age 14.  The boy also had a brain injury to his frontal lobe which makes him even more unable to be thinking rationally.  This was about 20 years ago.  The mother of the little girl is NUTS.  Everytime there is a hearing for resentencing, parole, etc.  this woman puts on a big show to prevent the guy from being released.  I wonder if this woman realizes that she is destroying that guy's life and his mother's life.  Although the woman is wrong, she has a right to ASK that the guy not be released.  The problem is.. the court keeps siding with HER and keeping the guy in prison!
      Let me point something out.  The murder was not premeditated, he should have been charged with 2nd degree murder.  He was charged and convicted of 1st degree murder.  That trial was in error.  It should have been ruled a mistrial and re-done.  It was not.  Once convicted, the verdict should have been thrown out.  There is then the law of "double jeopardy" in which you can't charge a person twice for the same act.  So on that technicality, he should have been released 20 years ago.  What he really needed was to be put in a mental hospital.  Anyway, the guy has been a model inmate for the past 20 years.. and yet none of that seems to matter to the courts because of the pleas of the mother of the victim.  That is not fair nor just.

      Compare that to the case of Jon Benet Ramsey.  I'm not going to re-hash that case again.. I have battled it out on Facebook which resulted in that account being disabled.  Here are just a few things people are generally unaware of.  Long before the murder, Burke intentionally hit JBR in the head with a golf club.  On the very day of the murder, Burke smeared his own feces on JBR's Christmas Candy, and left a grapefruit sized ball of his own shit in her bed.  While I personally don't think he intended to kill her, he did intentionally tie her up and beat her, etc.  The one blow to her head cracked her skull, and then it became a murder.  I don't feel like debating this case, Burke killed her.. period.
      But then, why wasn't Burke ever charged?  There is a reason for that.  at the time of the murder, Burke was 9 years and 11 months old.  One month away from being 10 years old.  In Colorado, you cannot charge a person under the age of 10 with a murder.  Burke's father was very well connected with the authorities in Boulder Colorado, and he did his best to protect Burke.. and succeeded.  By the way, the mother Patsy wrote that ridiculous "ransom note".  Here is the dilemma.  The parents didn't want the boy blamed for the murder.  Even if named as the murderer, he could not be charged with the murder because of his age.  The real crime here is the corrupt authorities, the incompetent investigators, and the stupid laws.

      There is yet another issue with this case.  While it is true that Burke murdered his sister.. he was never charged with it.. and yet, there have been TV shows made blatantly naming Burke as the murderer.  That is blatant libel, slander, and defamation.  Burke and his father are suing.. but will they win?  Probably not.  They should win.  But won't.

      There are far too many problems with the judicial system that result in guilty people getting off.. while in other cases, other people are unjustly punished or even falsely convicted.

      In the case I often refer to, the many wasn't just unjustly punished, he didn't commit the crime!  To re-summarize that case, a group of people spent 12 years pulling various stunts and schemes to destroy that man's life.  Nothing they did worked.  The final scheme to frame him was to drug the man into an unconscious state, and commit a murder in his own apartment (and breaking the sliding bolt lock on his terrace door to plant more evidence after the police left).  Ironically, even THAT didn't destroy this man.  He is in prison, but like Martha Stewart in prison.. making lemonade out of lemons.  He enjoys life and people and can't be defeated.

    • Should gender determine when the death penalty is used?

      Here is a link to an exhaustive, and frankly, too long dissertation on the disparity of the application of the death penalty based upon gender.
      Basically it boils down to men are 7 times as likely to be executed as women for the same crimes.
      Overall, only about 1.5% of convicted murderers are executed (and those are mainly in Texas and Florida).

      The idea that the death penalty is a deterrent or fair is obviously nonsense since the only way someone gets executed is when the case becomes a media circus and the defense is incompetent.

      If you murder someone and get away with it for 50 years, have you really changed?   You haven't turned yourself in, you just got caught somehow.

      Whoops.. I didn't state my comment clearly.
      What I had in mind is a person who commits a crime, is convicted and put on death row.. but sits on death row for 50 years before being executed.  Once they are convicted and put on death row, there should be a time limit on how long someone can be on death row before being executed - otherwise they should be taken off death row and have their sentence changed to life in prison.

      By the way, the main reason I hate Twitter is because it is usually impossible to make a clear and complete statement with just 140 characters.  It leaves too much open to interpretation and ambiguity.

      I'm not concerned with the time between crime and the death sentence.

      I do agree with you about the confession part, though.   He confessed, so life without parole would be my choice.   HOWEVER, why was there a trial if he confessed?   Did he change his mind about the confession and plead not guilty?

      Anyway, some people are tricked into confessing by the police.   I've told the story of the 4 July 1976 rapes in my hometown.   The police picked up a well like mentally disabled man and convinced him that if he confessed he could go home and that would be the end of it.    Pretty much everyone in the town knew the guy and saw him at the fireworks display, because he was very friendly and always said HI to everyone he saw, even if he didn't know them.    He avoided the death penalty because he was mentally disabled.    Anyway, the Innocence Project or one of them, after nearly 20 years, got him out and proved he was innocent.

      Public Defenders, despite working for the state, have very little resources compared to the DA who work for the same state.    They also don't have the time to do a good job for each case.

      I think the time passed from the crime to the execution is a valid point.  Let's exaggerate it a bit.  Let's say a man was convicted of murder when he was 18 years old.  50 years later when he is 68, they decide to execute him.  The person they are executing is NOT the same person that committed that crime when they were 18 years old.  Should he be forgiven?  Perhaps not, but should be be executed?  No.  If there was such a good reason to execute the guy, the sentence should have been carried out within as short a time as possible after the crime.
