I welcome input if I'm wrong, but in defense of some (clearly, not all) of the struggling Uploaders, it's quite possible they live in a country where Internet provider speeds are slow, or somewhere that charges a lot of money for what we, in more developed markets, consider standard service.

An Uploader, even with slow Internet service, is guaranteed the 1.0, or 100 percent, of their initial upload amount in MB/GB.

However, if a few other members with fast service, or seedboxes, jump in early after the Upload is complete, the original guy will receive very little additional ratio.  The torrent system is designed to draw bits and bytes from the most available and nimble sources.  That must be frustrating.

And this scenario is completely separate from those Uploaders who -- either through ignorance or stinginess -- have speedy Internet connections, yet leave their Uploads seeding just long enough to reach that 1.0/100 percent of the file's size -- and then complain!

We recently had a chap who couldn't seem to grasp that GT is a peer-to-peer exchange, where one can't simply take without giving back via seeding longer, uploading more files, and/or contributing $$$.  He was a real gem.  And yes, you know who you are.

Yes, GT needs to fix its website, but even a complete system reboot would not give you the option to turn off the 37 types of sexual interaction that kill your browsing boner.

At least you seem to realize you have a preference for the most standard and ordinary vanilla porn that strikes many of us as "tepid" and "lukewarm" (your words, well said).  And as such, we don't see a reason to concentrate on a heightened system of content warning flags or check boxes.  Our volunteer Mods and Admins have so many other obvious repair priorities / upgrades on their very full plates.

Oh, unless, of course, you're offering your own system troubleshooting talents – or better still, a sizable donation to enlist some paid tech wizards?

It's this last point that really leaves me shaking my head.

Because after all this back-and-forth, and our efforts to educate you about our system and how to be a good or exemplary member, you literally crowed with pride when your ratio cleared the basement to a whopping 0.655, even with a very fast Internet connection at your disposal.

This is why the word entitled follows you around with such resolve.  You give so little, register so much negativity, and see none of this as a problem – and much less, as an opportunity for change.

Really, it's quite the pity.

In the somewhat uncommon event that you would be tagged with two IP addresses, used at different times, you have an opportunity to explain your situation to the staff who contact you.

I maintain two residences, and use different Internet service providers when signing on to GT in different states.  I believe GT's interest lies more in those members who maintain two or more "memberships" on the same URL and provider, which raises the possibility of a duplicate account.

Many times I have also logged on from hotel rooms, etc.  To my understanding, they would be searching, instead, for the pattern I described above.  Don't be anxious regarding your time on GT, as long as you're using it with honest intent.    :hug:

Yes, raphjd, I was unsure whether the Original Poster was referring primarily to individual large files, or as well, large collections of files presented as a single download.

I suppose it bears repeating that with file collections, most torrent clients, like μTorrent, begin with a Select All default.  But before one pushes the OK button, the Select None button can be used to wipe the slate clean.  One can then check only the individual files desired, thus making any large file collection à la carte.  (Like a fancy restaurant!)

To raphjd's other point, the proliferation of member "large collections" that are nothing more than slightly revised versions of others' work, is discouraging.  I think there are so many shades of more/less similar that, unfortunately, it's very hard to govern.

I see this question often, on many boards, I'll choose this one to share some thoughts, even as a non-techie.

As technology advances, more studios are offering larger media files – right now, 4K -- as an option.  And a single porn scene can run over 3 GB.

Again -- 4K is simply an option -- they also keep offering lower-res versions for those with storage issues, or for phone/tablet viewing.

I enjoy 4K clips and am willing to buy external hard drives to accommodate their size, and to keep my computer from slowing down.

Not to give you nightmares, but here's an article from last month about progress on rolling out 8K TV products, although still very early.  But once there are enough 8K TVs/media players sold, the 8K viewing content is sure to keep pace.  And the files will be l-a-r-g-e...
