Gay for pay is a myth that the porn industry has used for decades to sell porn. It's based on homophobia/biphobia and bad stereotypes about bisexual and gay men.
No guy that's hetero/straight is going to do porn where he has sex with other men, or have sex with other men for money as a hooker on the side.
Contrary to what people believe about the myth of porn, you don't make a lot of money from it.
Most men and even women that you see in porn are prostitutes on the side as that's how they make most of their money, and the videos are basically just advertisement for them; but it has been this way for decades.
Gay 4 Pay is real - the extent may be arguable, I think some are straight but not all that claim the gay4pay tag are straight, but it is 100% real -.
100% agree re : "It's based on homophobia/biphobia and bad stereotypes about bisexual and gay men." - it sells because of his - most gay men believe, either consciously or subconsciously that straight men are more "manly" and it is fantasy
Early Sean Cody are built around this and hence why it grew so much
There was a blog i read recently, written a long time ago about a gay guy's experience with Sean Cody - I think i found it on these forums - the behind the scenes we do not see is so very different to what we see
the money adds up though - i mean 8k a month for certain sites for 3 or 4 scenes is nothing to sneeze at and i'm sure some earn more and do more scenes - for some of those guys that's a gold mine
