darn, if you read the gt.ru page BEFORE you sign in you will see the announcement that the site is now invite only so the referral is no longer valid as it wasn't a proper invite just a link for your friend to credit you with some bonus while he was joining.

Now if you want to help someone to join you will need to send them an 'invite' if you have any. I have, I've forgotten why and I don't know what happens when I have used my remaining three.

I am sure there is a thread here somewhere about invites but I can't find it easily right now. Perhaps it can be added to the announcement. Or a passing staff member will post the link.

It is worth knowing that if you have invites and someone joins with one, you will get 2GB added to you upload total.

Invites cost 250 points for one, 400 for two. This may not be a priority for people who have few points and a dodgy ratio

I have no problem giving points when I've downloaded something I've enjoyed. I just don't want to give them if they DON'T go to anyone, but the seed just get spilled (:o). For instance, my first ever torrent here is now an 'orphan'. If someone gave bonus points at this stage, who would get them, if anyone.

And it is certainly very difficult to communicate with other members here, especially if they don't respond to comments. And if someone's privacy settings are high, then you can't send them a PM.

I'd prefer a system where you can send an unsolicited PM which the other person can read, ignore, delete, block, report or maybe even reply to.

Actually I have discovered another hiccup. I'll tell you if you send me a PM. I can't you one because of your security settings

It's also frustrating with older torrents that there is no check that giving points will benefit anyone. I believe that if the original uploader is no longer a member the points get lost in the ether.

You perhaps are being a little impatient, gt.ru doesn't update quite as often as some other sites I use.

You've already worked out that the first picture below means GT tracker hasn't caught up with you.

As soon as the second picture appears, you are seeding. I would ignore any figures uTorrent gives you - too many times I haven't been able to match what it says with what a site tracker says.

Just make sure your torrent is 'visible' and let things happen. Once it's on the tracker and showing, you just have to sit back and wait for people to find it.  Perhaps watch a movie while you wait ;D

ben, basically you don't. Without staff help (and they won't, to identify a seeder) all seeders are anonymous. Even if you knew his identity, it wouldn't help you.

The only way (I know) is to use the Thanks box on the torrent page itself and use the drop-down box to add seed points to your thank you.

I've had to use this method even when I wanted to pass on some seed point for something other than a torrent post.

Sometimes the status update gets stuck and needs some help. I would judge you are now post-Lurker but perhaps some passing staff member will check that.

YOU don't increase your reputation points - others do that. If you join in the forums, help out others, make witty posts or even  :bsex: moderators, that can all make people add to your reputation. But don't worry there are no added benefits, apart from a warm feeling

I think what you are seeing is your username in the reply because the poster has included the code which says 'insert the member's username at this point'. A bit like the line at the top of mine right now which says "Shouldn't You Be Going To Bed Soon, cannonmc" - the cannonmc bit is actually produced by the code.

So don't be spooked, someone hasn't stolen your identity  

PS I think the code here is [you] - that is the word you in square brackets. You should see your username when you read that, I see mine, which is not a lot of use as I already know it  :funny2:
