I think I'm going to downvote all the people who can think of nothing but moaning because they don't happen to like the format (now size) of stuff that is provided free by people willing to work to share their stuff.
Now, if you don't like movies under 500MB, pass on. There are thousands of others to choose from. I have some rare vintage stuff from here that wouldn't have passed this ridiculous size test. And I thank all those posters for giving me the chance to grab them.
PS I agree with taboi, 100%
PPS You would have thought someone who has grabbed over 600GB from the site would have chosen a more positive subject for his first topic in the forum
Well that will give me some time-wasting intellectual reading over the weekend. Looks interesting, thanks
Just in passing, I rarely see the person asking for a reseed in the 'thanks' on the torrent page :sigh:
Wish List works on the Search page, not the Browse
It seems that the cannonmc curse of not explaining very well strikes again.
But if I understand Popper correctly one of the messages is a system response to a member initiating a reseed request, the other is a response to a staff member promoting an existing torrent. It just seems that for this particular torrent I got the benefit of both messages.
Anyway I responded and got some upload creditβ¦my ratio was dropping to dangerous levels
Thanks for the replies
I have just signed in and there were two messages for me - see picture below.
They are both asking for the same reseed. I was just wondering why the two different wordings.
When anyone looks at the home page but isn't signed in they will see a list of the latest posts but the posters' usernames are 'Hidden' when you click on a link.
But if there are any related posts underneath the 'hidden post' the names of those posters are in full view.Β :crazy2:
An anomaly?
:hiya: provoqguys, hope you have fun here.
You seem to have mastered the site's ratio immediately
pornofan, you have it the wrong way round. There is no automated function called [pornofan] - your name turns up because the poster has added the code```
[you]
So if I put it in this post here > [you] I will see 'cannonmc' but you will see 'pornofan'
:hiya: hope you have some fun. Please join in the forums
It is perhaps worth mentioning that if you are listed as a downloader because you haven't downloaded the full torrent you still get upload credit for any data you do upload
I'm afraid that is the way on all torrent sites I've used. As long as you haven't downloaded 100% you will always be a downloader for that file.
Perhaps you could just seed the incomplete torrents when you have space
Didn't that used to happen here? [auto-approval]
I wasn't going ga-ga (well, I might be but on this my memory was OK)
Yesterday, while checking out a reply to another query I saw this pic on the member's post. So it was the case that you did have to earn approval for the first few posts you did.
I have no idea what happened to that.
Some people will be put off by the sheer size of a collection of 100GB. Not everyone realises that they can choose which bits of a multi-file torrent they can download. Some members would think they had to download all or nothing.
I don't know how many files you would intend to post in one big torrent but it can be a real pain looking through long lists to choose which parts might be good to download for me.
For my part I prefer one movie, one torrent but I'm peculiar anyway
Unfortunately that is the URL of this page, not a torrent
Didn't that used to happen here? Or am I thinking about that other site too?
Given the staff are under pressure to keep up now, I wonder whether another job would be possible.
I'm thinking it might be better for members to report non-conforming torrents. But then it isΒ often difficult to get members to communicate.
I think the forum points are dealt with at LEVI's #4 and #5. And I did mention that invites earn upload not points.
I think LEVI has listed all the ways. Sad to say that the easiest way (after your first upload) to gain lots of points is by reporting duplicate torrents
Now if we could nominate an easy to find forum and put this in a sticky thread of its own, it would save a lot of people having to explain it anew each time someone asks.
Good start, LEVI
Popper also pointed to the Rationator page - perhaps we should check that out to see if anything is missing. You seem to have covered the ones I could think of.
On #9, 250 points is the amount you 'spend' for an invite. If you invite someone you actually get 2GB added to your upload total.
Once we are sure weΒ (that is, you) have got the complete list, then I think it should be made a sticky topic in at least the Ratio forum, perhaps copied to other forums.
Well done
Yup, that's a good one too. Now who is going to volunteer to put it all togetherΒ
