Erm, that seems to be what I said in my reply.
I'm not sure it was ever possible to get good access to usenet for free. My ISP still offers usenet but it only has a retention of a few days.
I'm not sure the specialist paid providers censor the content - I feel they would lose customers if they did. And I haven't heard of any usenet provider being sued. That doesn't mean they haven't
And it is still my preferred method of downloading. The biggest drawback is stuff disappearing off the bottom of the group.
I haven't used Vuze/Azureus for years. It got so complicated that I gave up. Like so much software people fiddled with it because they could.
I want a client where I click on a torrent and it gets it. I use uTorrent 3.0. I saw there were problems with a couple of the later versions so never updated it.
But I thought we'd established that, provided the torrent is posted as separate files, there is no need to download the complete torrent. Just tick those bits that you are interested in.
And yes, you will never show as a complete seeder but you will get credit for any amount you upload/seed.
But there are members who see the total size and pass on.
For movies, I still prefer one torrent, one movie. But that's just me
Usenet hasn't died, it still has terabytes of posts a day. But the method of downloading has moved on.
For instance, Easynews has a browser interface where you can show only completed movies, no spam and all scanned, ready to download as a complete file.
It is still the first place I look for movies and software because the download is fast, I don't have to seed but I do have to pay $10 a month
Thank you, I might just test that out
Just curious. But if you are having sex with new partners do you tell them your status so they have an option?
I tend towards jackny.
I was watching some original AMG 8mm films yesterday and enjoying them
:hiya: rgy, good to see you. I hope you enjoy yourself
Oh, and Indonesia seems to be on the map nowΒ
:hiya: good to see you enjoying the siteβ¦but why not use it as a first resort next time
Actually, long time ago when usenet was king and we had superfast dial-up connections!), it was a sort of standard that 10MB (megabytes) was about right for 10 minutes of movie. If people posted huge files they would get shouted down because in those days posts got pushed off the group.
When collecting movies of the 80s and 90s I tend to stick to files between 600MB and 1.5GB. There is no good reason to download large DVD files made from movies of that era unless the original has been remastered or for the DVD extras.
I know no rule that says you can't ask for a different format (actually I know no rule that says you can't request the same format but it would be silly).
If you make the request, make it clear that you know there are other versions here but that you are specifically looking for higher resolution.
Good luck
PS Just a note, one movie for each request
Charley, see my answer above. I would advise using the Upload page. It is really quite simple, especially after you post your first torrent. It avoids any conflict.
Just follow the steps on the page. The only extra thing you have to remember is to download the torrent you have just posted, open it in the usual way and point it to the file you made the torrent from.My tip is to get file, torrent file, pictures and review/info gathered together in one folder before you start
At least while you are learning. And thanks for thinking of usβ¦
Interesting, thanks for the info. I've never really gone far in IMDB except searching for titles and occasionally using keywords. I never registered there or learned how things work
:hiya: - now you've found us don't be a stranger. Have fun
Can I add another soupcon?
I was wandering around IMDB last night (cannonmc, you need a proper hobby!) and was really surprised that there is no list of lists. You have to stumble across them by chance
Just as an added tidbit. IMDB use the cover picture of the collection for each individual short it seems (I haven't checked them all). Possibly because they don't have an alternative.
