    • RE: Asking For Seed Bonus Gifts

Hey Mgr is here, it's always a pleasure  🙂
Well, as I'm curious, i always experiment the different possibilities offered by a software (Options…) and read (at least partially lol) its help file...which usually brings out new questions ("Super Seeding") or a comparison of utorrent glossary with GT glossary (in Raphjd's thread) etc...

Of course, if an option is too complicated to understand, you better leave it unchanged lol
Or note carefully what was its default in case you dare change it  😄

    • RE: Asking For Seed Bonus Gifts

      Hi all,
Just a couple of uTorrent pics concerning what has been written :

MrMazda wrote : uTorrent do save a copy of the .torrent file for every torrent that you've ever imported in the the following directory by default:
      C:\Documents and Settings<username>\Application Data\uTorrent

I don't find any torrent in this folder…because I changed the default a long time ago 😄
As you will notice in the 1st attached pic ("1 - Data and Torrents location.jpg"), all data (movies) and torrents are immediately stored in a more accessible folder, then dispatched when completed. This folder is like a "to be sorted" folder.

Concerning the torrent deletion, utorrent gives a full control of what you want to delete, as seen in the 2nd attached pic ("2 - Remove - Remove And.jpg")

The right-clic context menu offers all possibilities :

      1. Remove = Remove the torrent from utorrent (and do nothing else)

      2. Remove And :
2a) Delete .torrent : same as 1) + delete the torrent from disc
2b) Delete .torrent + data : same as 1) + delete the torrent and movie from disc
2c) Delete data : same as 1) + delete the movie from disc

It's simple and efficient, especially it asks you a confirmation after you choose a Delete option.

      1 - Data and Torrents location.jpg
      2 - Remove - Remove And.jpg</username>

      Hey geographer is here  🙂
Well…I guess we all like our own method to do it lol (underlvr's method works great too, I tried it with MPC, after having read his last post)

A few hours ago, I used MediaInfo to add the technical infos in a torrent I just uploaded.
As I wasn't very satisfied with the preceding default output (i.e the pic "1_quick_infos.jpg" in my last message) then I added a couple of things in the open template script.

Some adding code went like that:  $if(%CodecID/Hint%, (%CodecID/Hint%****))
I forgot the ** and it got me nuts during 10 min, depending on whether the movie had a codecID/Hint or not :crazy2:
Here is how it appears actually in the torrent description page :

      Format           : AVI
      Length part 1  : 218 MB for 22mn 42s 625ms
      Length part 2  : 222 MB for 23mn 06s 867ms
      Length part 3  : 221 MB for 23mn 05s 587ms

      Video #0        : MPEG-4 Visual (XVID) at 1 201 Kbps
      Aspect           : 640 x 480 (1.333) at 29.970 fps

      Audio #0        : MPEG Audio (MP3) at 128 Kbps
      Infos             : 2 channels, 44.1 KHz

      It worked

      @twinkletoes:

      VLC Player as well!
And, unlike KMPlayer (and GSpot), it is NOT just for Windows
Linux and Mac is supported too

Like twinkletoes, VLC is the player I use most of all
The question is : what is the quickest way to include technical infos in the torrent page ?
I wouldn't like to write them manually, maybe some mistake will be done while writing, or it will take time, also it's boring to write them manually.

Does VLC allow an easy copy of the infos, so you can quickly paste them in the torrent page ?
I tried but couldn't make it (though I didn't search a lot throughout VLC interface)

      MediaInfo allows what follows :

      • Right click on the movie name in Windows Explorer, then…
      • the 2 attached pics reflect some of the different output that immediately appear, then you can copy-paste wherever you like : could it be simpler ?

I have a question related to this :
In some torrents pages (I can't find any now  😞 ) there is a "NFO" part in the left blue column (you know, the column where it's written "Size" , "Rating" , "Added" , "Views" etc…)

How is this "NFO" part filled ? Is it the user that fills it with technical infos or is it automatically filled depending on... ?
And why is it present in some torrents only ?
      tia  🙂

    • RE: [petition] Making it mandatory to give details about codec & resolution

      Hi Mgr,
I already voted "no opinion", for the same reasons exposed by Brandon and you.

Concerning the codecs, I use the freeware MediaInfo (SourceForge) and it's a great program, as you can see it here.
      hXXp://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

Even if we (maybe) will never be allowed to download its source from GT, everybody can download it from the precedent link. Then it's easy to take a snapshot (it adds one line in the context menu of Windows Explorer) or to export some infos in a text file, copy-paste in the torrent description page etc…

I'm pretty sure you already know this program (which is frequently updated) and yes, it will detect codecs that the old GSpot won't detect . I remember having PM you an example of compared detection on a mkv file, not detected by GSpot but detected by MediaInfo, as show in the 2 following links :

      Not detected by GSpot :
      http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/bitbucket/1-Gspot.jpg

      Detected by MediaInfo :
      http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/bitbucket/2-MediaInfo.jpg

As GSpot had its development stopped 4 years ago (fev 2007), how do you want it to report correct informations when new codecs appear periodically or are updated ?

In case you never tried MediaInfo, please have a look at it.
I'm convinced you'll like it a lot...no matter what you'll do with it after  🙂

    • RE: [petition] Making it mandatory to give details about codec & resolution

      Hi all,
Not a bad idea (though it will help some leechers only), but I would also like some other improvements :

      1. no too little screenshots size.
In some torrents, you find very little screenshots, it's useless.
Screenshots should have a minimum size, they have to be visible without a microscope.

      2. Screenshots should be taken from the movie itself.
It's not acceptable to include nice screenshots taken from the original site, where pics are always in good quality.
If you don't upload screenshots extracted from the movie, then as user "778939" wrote, the movie quality doesn't always correspond to the  screenshots quality, which could be very disappointing (a couple of times I downloaded horrible quality movies that i immediately deleted)

      3. Minimum of screenshots should be 3, not 1

      Just my 2 cents  🙂

      1. Before adding this message, a GT message just popped up ("Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.)

      @twinkletoes:

Since so few people bother to rate torrents…

Concerning this point, it's not normal that some members rate a torrent very poorly (1 star) when they don't download the movie.
I alerted Helpdesk yesterday about a torrent that just received 1 star, when noone had snatched it and the best leecher had downloaded 48% only !
If you don't like a torrent (because of its genre), why should you rate it badly when you don't intend to download it ? Because it's an anonymous rating ?
Noone wants the uploader to be upset by bad ratings coming from members who won't download the torrents  😞

My suggestion to the staff was to allow rating only to members that are actually downloading the movie (or members who have already snatched it)

So after I downloaded it, I rated it 5 stars, not only to compensate the silly 1 star rating done by an anonymous member who didn't download the movie, but because I liked it.

    • RE: Besoin d'aide

      http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=65718&filelist=1&dllist=1

      Hey guys  🙂
This race discussion won't bring anything good, each of you two will answer the other one and it will get worse.
We all read your arguments (i read you 3 times now) and understood what you both meant.
I'm sure both of you aren't happy the way this topic goes now, so why not stop answering (please) ?

It's not a sign of weakness to stop arguing, even if you both think are right.
On the contrary, it shows a mental strength ("i can stop answering even if i think i'm right and i will stop answering right now because i would like things to calm down")

Please staff, discuss it internally and choose the best word who will agree to the majority of you, update the list and everybody will be happy again.

    • RE: Jump-on / re-seed during new uploads

      @Popper:

…In addition, as they got only let's say 98.7% of all the torrent's files, they will show up as leecher (though seeding only) and be more difficult to identify as early jump-oners...

Uwe's comments are really impressive, that's all I can say  🙂
Look at his explanation about an early jump-oner showing as a leecher in the torrent page (in case he already got the movie but unselected the additional pics, not downloading them on purpose), when most of us would have thought that a jump-oner was always seen as a 2nd seeder.

Here is a detailed example of what he explained, as it would show in a torrent page :

      Seeders :
      1st (the uploader) : completed 100%
no other seeder appears in the torrent page.

Leechers (sorted by completed amount, descending, as shown in the torrent page) :
      1st : completed 98.7%
      2nd : completed 2.5%
      3rd : completed 2.3%
      etc…
      10th: completed 0.4%

1st leecher is more than likely a jump-on member (because ALL other leechers have completed 2.5% max)
Even if this 1st leecher got an incredible download speed (this should be seen in his line), I don't think he'd be able to download "normally" 98.7% when all other leechers only downloaded 2.5% max.

      @Popper:

…If it had been re-named, it doesn't matter...

This sentence I didn't understand it.
I just tested again on one of my uploaded torrents (which includes 4 files) and the file name seems very important.
This is the test I did :

      • delete the torrent file from my computer

      • delete 3 files out of 4 in my folder

      • rename the 4th file from movie4.avi to movie4.abc

      • download the torrent from the torrent page

      • deselect 3 files out of 4 (keeping only movie4.avi to download)

      • receiving folder = the folder where movie4.abc is found on my computer

Then, as utorrent didn't find a movie named "movie4.avi" in my computer folder (which contains a renamed "movie.abc"), it starts to download the complete "movie4.avi" from other peers (though "movie.abc" and "movie.avi" are exactly the same file but utorrent doesn't check this)

So maybe did you mean something else by your sentence : "If it had been re-named, it doesn't matter" ?
Because in my test (and as wombat2 explained) it matters a lot 🙂

Oh I see…maybe you wrote "it doesn't matter" because it's very easy to rename a file before downloading the torrent, matching names between the torrent page and the receiving folder ?

    • RE: Pictures not allowed on site

      Thx MrMazda & Uwe  🙂
Well, I already felt in my 1st post that things won't ever change, concerning this issue lol
But it's always nice to chat with you and to remind the AA members who read us, that it would great if all of them added some pics in their torrents, in case the studio is the issue (read before)

Now I would like to discuss with you about a  more general subject, linked to what has already been written
(I'll ask this because I'm curious, that's all. If you think we shouldn't discuss about it openly, please feel free to delete all that follows)

      1) Some Studios are totally banned from the site, their list is here and visible by all :
      http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=3592.msg48791#msg48791
We'll refer to them as list #1

      2) Some Studios have "only" their pics banned from the site, but you allow members to share their torrents. The list is visible only to AA users, here :
      http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=3593.msg11116#msg11116
We'll refer to them as list #2

I can't really understand this list #2 (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Sure these studios in list #2 don't like their movies to be shared by anyone, and they don't want their pics to appear on any site without approbation.

But as GT's tracker already allows members to share these torrents from list #2 , it means GT is already involved in allowing the share, even if the movies are not stocked on GT's computer but they're stocked on member's computers, right ?

So what would be the big deal if you allowed the pics from list #2 to be stocked on GT computer ?

Would it mean that GT would be in more trouble if pics from list #2 were stored on its computers, compared to the fact that the tracker already allows the torrents from list #2 to be shared on GT computer ?

That's the question I wanted to ask. I can't imagine what's so different between a tracker allowing these torrents files from list #2 to be shared (which indicates GT accepts these torrents), compared to the fact that pics from list #2 stored on GT computer would create a much bigger problem  ???

    • RE: Pictures not allowed on site

      Hi Uwe   🙂
Mmm…this is something I never thought about : his pics helping you to identify the movie and approve his torrent.
But well, in case his pic(s) were enclosed in his torrent instead of being in the description page, it would mean you'd have to download them (all or partially, this shouln't take too much time) instead of accessing them directly from the description page ( also, he should be seeding for you to download them ;D )

Let's say that actually, the time required for you to delete all his pics from the description page (in case you'll approve his torrent) + the time for you to upload the "no pics allowed" torrent would be the same as downloading the pics included from his torrent  😉

And he, as an uploader, would have done a proper job, helping all downloaders to have a look at some pics before blindly downloading his torrent (it happened to me not downloading a few Catalina torrents because i needed to have a look at some pics, which weren't present because they're not allowed on description page, so I didn't blindy downloaded these movies. Of course, I could have googled...)

Another point could be this : Mods also control all uploads from Auto-Approval users (who are supposed to have uploaded the "no pics allowed" picture) . It sure would help you, from time to time, to find some pics in the torrent, in case you have a doubt. I've been told that even AA users do mistakes  😄

    • Pictures not allowed on site

      Hi all  🙂
Concerning this question, there's something that I always found strange.

      1) The list of the banned studios (for pics) appear only if you got the Auto-Approval status, here :
      http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=3593.0

Which means that all other users who spend time preparing pics will have them all rejected after their upload, which is a loss of time for both uploaders and Mods 😞

Why don't you make this list visible to all members, so the situation would be clear to all members ?
One answer was (if I remember) : "we don't want to frighten new members and they won't be warned at all if they repeat this "mistake" , Mods know how to take charge of this issue".
Well, this answer isn't really satisfying, is it ?
How could a double process of carefully preparing pics by a member, then all pics deleted by a Mod, be satisfying ?

      2) If this list was visible to all, here is how torrents concerning these studios could be treated :
All members who upload a torrent concerning these studios should upload at least 1 separate pic in their torrent.
Only then, downloaders would have an idea of what they're gonna download (instead of starting googling for this movie) : the pic(s) would be downloaded first, and if they seem interesting, then only the movie would be downloaded.

Uploading additional pic(s) in these "special" torrents is allowed on site, as stated in raphjd's post, which I have to partially paste here, as it's only visible to Auto-Approval members 😞
"DO NOT post pictures from or of the following studios or their sub studios on our site {however, you may include these pictures inside a torrent}"

Concerning this issue, here are some examples of "bad" and "good" prepared torrents (better name them "non descriptive" and "descriptive" torrents, when studio is the issue):

      • A non descriptive one : no pic within the torrent (it's not the member's fault because unfortunately he doesn't know anything concerning this issue) :
        http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=83244&filelist=1#filelist

      • 2 descriptive torrents from same member (thanks Brandon who indirectly made me think again of this issue, by indicating who was Tommy Gunn), both of them include additional pics within the torrents :
        http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=60750&filelist=1#filelist
        http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=65065&filelist=1#filelist

As you'll notice, this last poster got the auto-approval status (as shown in his profile) and he posted dozen and dozen of torrents. I only checked two of his torrents (i.e torrents where pics are banned on site) but I guess he does same in all his posts (especially he doesn't add pics in his torrents when the studio isn't banned)

To make it short : all members should do same as him :

      • If non banned studios => pics in description page (GT mandatory rule)
      • If banned studios (no pics on GT site) => pic(s) in torrent

      Simple, isn't it ?
      Have a great day  🙂

    • RE: Slow uploading!!!!

      Hi royorl74  🙂

I guess you didn't choose the 2 best torrents to seed, because one has no leechers at all (and 183 seeders), while the 2nd torrent you're seeding has only 2 leechers and…212 seeders, so don't expect you'll be able to upload anything in these 2 torrents.

What you should try to seed are torrents with fewer seeders and many leechers, especially if those leechers haven't already grabbed a lot in these torrents.

Though the next link doesn't concern exactly your case, it will show you 2 pics explaining what are "good leechers" and "bad leechers", in case you want to add yourself as a seeder (or if you intend to leech a torrent) and how it will impact on your ratio :
      http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=12573.msg51910#msg51910

Of course, the best thing for you would be to upload a fresh new torrent, so this would really boost your ratio.

Create a folder named like the DVD. This will be the folder to create the torrent from (like the root of the DVD).
Inside this folder must be at least one other folder, named  VIDEO_TS" etc…

This is exactly what you explained, great to remember it 🙂
I liked that sentence of yours : "Here's an example of a time bomb waiting for a client program to screw up"
Wish my english was good enough to write this kind of sentence lol

      @Gr1zz:

…As an added bonus, you can add your preview pics to the folder too, and it will help keep others from jumping on your upload until you have finished uploading a whole copy.

I'd like to be 100% sure of that.
If anyone already got the same structure of your upload, with all same VOB's IFO's and BUP's , and the only difference is an additional pic in your upload, what will happen if a member jumps-on your torrent ?

He will download your little torrent file, indicate to his client program where is the parent folder on his HD, having exactly the same structure of your uploaded torrent, then ?

      1. Will his client program only download the missing pic and immediately adds him as a seeder ?
      2. Or will his client program have to download all the VOB's IFO's and BUP's, overwriting everything on his HD ?

What you say is option 2) will happen, have you tested it ?

Because one of my test showed this : imagine i uploaded a torrent composed of only 1 file (an avi file 1GB)
Then, a few weeks after, for testing, I modify 1 byte in the movie on my hard drive
Then, re-download the initial torrent, what happens ?

Only 1 block was rewritten on my HD (the block in the avi file where i modified 1 byte) and in a couple of seconds I was added as seeder  😞

My question is then : is it so different if you add one pic to the DVD structure ?

Well maybe you're right because, in my example, the movie lenght didn't change (modifying 1 byte in the avi didn't change the movie length)

And a 2nd test I did, where I changed the movie length (by cutting a couple of frames at the very end of the avi file on my HD), then the re-download of the torrent forced the whole avi to be re-downloaded (that's compatible with what you wrote)

So maybe the lenght of the movie(s) is a crucial point, concerning what will be downloaded (just a few blocks or the whole movie)
I don't have enough knowledge to answer this, maybe you or our Mods/Admins do ?  🙂

    • RE: Jump-on / re-seed during new uploads

      @cumeaternc:

I think jumping on a torrent is immature as waiting for someone to make a nice meal and then stealing it from them.

If you are a victim of jumping on the do the following:

      • PM the user and politely ask them to stop seeding your torrent until 3 or 4 other users have snatched it.

      • PM and online mod and make us aware of the situation.  We will usually PM the user and note in there profile that they are jumping on torrents.

      • Save screenshots of your torrent as proof.(Don't wait to long or other "real" leechers may snag you torrent)

From there the staff will deal with it. This is a pet peeve of mine so please let us know if we can help.

Hi Brandon, I like what you wrote and totally agree with it.
Would it be possible to include it in GT's rules ?

      Dear wombat2  🙂

I really think we should stop this now or it will never end.
But you force me to reply, as I notice that you read only what you want to read, why you ask ?

You're wrong when you write : "I offered you a  @ 10:43:07.. you then edited you post & added the "Btw" @ 10:52:08 & then accepted my   @ 10:54:24.."

Because I didn't add only a "Btw" sentence, I added 2 LONG chapters starting with "And I'm not, as you say, "on a witch hunt.. " plus another one starting with "(though I was 100% sure the same movie…", just re-read better my 2 quoted paragraphs you pasted in your message !

It took me several minutes to add/edit these paragraphs and you had already answered at 10h43 when I was still editing my message : you got to understand that if I start to edit my message at, let's say, 10h42, then your answer is not in the Forum, as demonstrated right now, here :
      http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=14325.msg62594#msg62594

(you see i posted a test message at 6:00pm and immediately edited it, waiting patiently more than 10 min, just to make sure that the "Edit time" is the time when you END the edit and not when you START the edit)

So yes, while I was modifying my message, you posted your reply (that I couldn't see) and at 10h52, when I ended my editing, I read your answer and immediately hugged you at 10h54

Concerning the "ban" thing : I never wrote that a user should be banned the FIRST time he's been caught jumping-on a fresh torrent.

Read again what you quoted : "Staff  warns the user who jumps on (with a pic proof in Staff's hands) and in case same user is caught a 2nd time…"
Where do you read I want someone banned when he's caught jumpin-on for the 1st time ?

Also, why don't you quote what I answered Amice yestersday : "it should be possible to block (momentarily) his access to GT tracker ?"

Do you see this "momentarily" word that makes all the difference ?

I'm not for banning anyone without warnings (ok, maybe 2 warnings should be better than one), but if there was an explicit rule concerning this jump-on issue, and same members who have been warned once or twice keep on jumping-on, what would you like to do ? To let them endlessly jump-on fresh torrents, no matter how many warnings they got ?
Sorry I don't agree with that point of view.

Concerning the "Thanks" given by leechers to the original poster : I would like to tell you that, believe it or not, I got several great uploaders who thank ME (not on porn sites) because I thank them not only by a cold "thanks" but with long public passionate answers (concerning for example a Stevie Wonder concert or any kind of concert or movie or album that I really enjoyed), explaining them what moved me in this special event and sharing my passion with all. They tell me it's because of detailed answers like that they enjoy uploading stuff, because robotic "thanks" are really too cold, at least for me.

And If I was "selfish" as you said, I won't give away all my Seed bonus points to members or Mods (the ones who gift users) . I've been kindly gifted SBP by great members, so it's normal to give all my SBP (present and future) to these persons.

Well, this being said, why not trying to forget all this and keep this place cool ?
I've heard that you're a great poster with genuine torrents and I respect that.

What drives me nuts is that there are no strict rules to prevent this jump-on issue.
I'm very happy (more than you'll ever think) that joeblow123 could upload his torrent and fix a bit his ratio issue because I like it when people are happy, it's a warm feeling when you feel that people are happy, don't you feel same ?

What made me really sad is joeblow123's 1st message (and its crying icon) and to know that a guy like him, having a ratio issue, couldn't upload his torrent by himself because some "helping hands" jumped on his torrent in its initial phase.

That's why I would like Brandon's great sentences (quoted at the beginning of this message) become a rule in this site, then only "jump-on" members will understand, after being PM, that they're doing something wrong.

      Peace
