"Most wanted torrents" can be found on GT's home page, and the "Top 30" appears as shown in the attached pic (snapshot taken a few hours ago)

Can you imagine my last post HotOlderMale was in there (it ranked #7) !
Probably I'll never do better lol

Then I tried to understand how the ranking was calculated, especially you got 3 columns, Seeders, Leechers, Snatched.
Nothing seemed obvious at 1st sight (it didn't seem to be the total of Seeders + Leechers)

Then I found this : take the number of Leechers, multiply it by 2, add the number of Seeders, then the ranking seems to be correct (Snatched column seems to be irrelevant for this calculation)

Anyone to confirm or invalidate this personal formula, please ?
I hope it's not written somewere in the rules (it would mean i didn't read them all…well let's say I read them all and forgot that point, it happens you know)  ;D

btw the "Server load" appears at the bottom of the pic : maybe I'm mistaken but that green indicator bar never seems to move, no matter the day or hour you consult it. Could it be a static image ?

The pic shows that the green bar starts exactly under "rv" and ends under "lo" of the above words "Server load"
If we compare the pic (taken a few hours ago) to the actual home page, the green bar is placed exactly at same place.
Let's wait tomorrow and we'll compare again.

The earliest Forum topic I found is a great Tom's topic, named "If you have any Questions…" (read 855 times) and dated May 30, 2006 (Tom's 1st message in it), a must read !

Because as far as I remember, it seems to me I discovered those "embedded GT logo" movies years ago.

Btw, Admins were very tasty in their movies choice when they embedded the logo : I remember how much I like(d) the kind of movies they embedded, thinking each time I saw a new one : "What? Gaytorrent.ru AGAIN ! Those guys are GREAT !!!" 

Though it's very hard, today, to imagine GT without you in it...

Now we want Tom back and read his posts again !

Hi all,
I had a bad experience this morning while uploading a new torrent :

The pics found at the end of this post will explain you the problem, let's detail them one by one :

1. pic1 - why dennysung is 2nd seeder.jpg
   This pic shows  the movie size (550MB) and the time i started to seed it (7h21)
   As my upload speed is limited to 28KB/s (100MB/h) then it should have taken me about 5h30min to seed the full movie, and I should have been the only seeder during those 5h30

Unfortunately, as you will notice in the pic, another user (named dennysung) jumped on my torrent and the pic shows we are both seeders, when other leechers have 62% of the file, he's a seeder with 100% at 9h36, with a much better upload speed as mine (this isn't too difficult) and he uploaded hundred of MB instead of me uploading them.
Question : how could he be a seeder in such a short time, when I didn't upload the whole movie ?
Answer : because he already had the same full movie on his computer.

2. pic2 - dennysung profile.jpg
   As I guessed, his profile shows the time where he was last seen (8h39, about 1 hour after i started to upload)
   And his upload speed shows 79KB/s (it will increase to 96KB/s in other pics I could show them too), that's why he has 5 allowed torrents in his profile.

3. pic3 - ratio 0.896 with 92 seeders!.jpg
   In this 3rd pic, you notice there are already 92 seeders and I still didn't upload the whole file, incredible but true !
   I uploaded only 492MB (out of 549) and the µTorrent ratio in the right column shows 0.896, which isn't normal (it must have been > 1 , probably 1.5 or more when there are already 92 seeders)

I know GT doesn't like at all this jump-on during initial uploads and Uwe (Mod and great teacher too) clearly explained the whole process in another topic, here is what he wrote on September 2 :

…The point is, that [user xxx] wants to join seeding (jump-on / re-seed), means uploading, on torrents of which he got already the complete data (movie) file. He won't download any data, but become immediately an additional seeder to the Original Poster. Any unique piece of data an early jump-on seeder (re-seeder) will upload will be lost to the Original Uploader. That can be a lot, if the jump-on seeder got a much higher upload rate than the original poster. So in your example it could mean that the member who made the torrent and uploaded it uploads 20% and the jump-on seeder 80% of the 560 MB (depends on both upload rates). So the harm to the initial uploader is there and can be huge. That is clearly something we do not like to see!

Ok but unfortunately we saw it right now and it's NOT the 1st time it happens to me (it's the 2nd time, but I can't be sure if it was dennysung the 1st time, but well… ok i'm not sure who it was the 1st time)

I was about to PM dennysung at 9h30 but I thought it would be a better idea to alert HelpDesk in case they catch him doing it "live", then to explain it fully here.

Btw, I notice he's earned the "Auto Approval" privilege (just like I did recently) . Though "AA" has nothing to do with this jump-on issue (even a simple User could do same if he got the right movie), I thought being "AA" means you have to respect rules even more and double check everything, and if GT allows you to be AA, then you should really consider to be regular and honest in everything you do on GT

Imho, jumping on a new torrent is not regular at all (unfortunately there is no GT rule concerning this issue) : if i were in his place and got the movie after another user uploaded it, I'd NEVER have jumped on his torrent : the initial uploader took TIME to prepare 15 pics (yes it takes time if you want to choose the ones you want correctly and with big size), the description, the torrent preparation and all the rest, so it's very unfair (and impolite) to jump on someone's else torrent and grab hundreds of MB that don't belong to you.

If I were in his place, I would have left the torrent untouched (no jump-on during initial upload phase) until there are at least 3-4 seeders then only I would consider jumping on it. Well I guess each one sees it in his own way, but I'll never do that to any uploader.

I guess someone should tell him to come read all this : only you Mods and Admins know the better way to solve this kind of issue. If you want me to PM him i'll do it, if you want to do something else, just let us know.

I got another question for the staff : is the following a bug or not ?
The Search torrent window returns sometimes non expected results.
Before uploading a new torrent, I search the following, including dead torrents :
Alex Slater menover30

It returns one result, but there is not a single "Alex" in the result, in fact there are 4 "Alexander" (including the opened 66 files list) :

If the search is based on whole words only (and not on prefix, or words within words), then this torrent shouldn't appear in results, do we agree ?

A few days ago, uwsguy102 wrote something very important in the above quoted line, when he said "he couldn't access my profile due to my security settings"

As I didn't have any security settings at the time (I just became Power User a few hours ago), it showed the well-know bug, confirmed by Uwe then Mgr, when a new account can be created "hidden" to all other users (only the staff members can see it) and this is a real issue.

Now that I am power user, here is what i notice : you'll find in the attached pic a "Privacy level" that just appeared at the very end end of my "Profile settings"
(btw, Uwe, I confirm you this "Privacy level" just appeared right now, because you PM me on September 4th, writing "You should see that option already: Profile > Profile Settings > at the very bottom" : no, it doesn't appear until you're Power User, I confirm it)

The question is : why does this privacy level appear unchecked in the pic ?
Shouldn't it be checked on "Normal" or "Low" or "Strong" ?

It's the 1st time that I see this kind of "radio button" unchecked in a form : usually, a radio button must have one of its options checked (on the contrary, it's normal for a "check button" like the new "DVD-R" button to appear normally unchecked when it's shown for the 1st time)

Couldn't this unchecked button ("Privacy Level") be related to the known bug of new account created and hidden because they are mysteriously created with a checked "Strong Privacy Level" (3rd option in the pic), according to Uwe's words in PM : " As said, Alien X account got affected by a bug, setting the account privacy already at creation to strong (he even can't change, because he isn't Power User)."

uwsguy102, in case you read this, I've forced my unchecked "Privacy Level" to Normal : could you please confirm that my Profile is visible now ?

Million thanks to the staff member who immediately did the job for me, adding "blackdid - enjoy" in my 14 torrents.
If I'm not mistaken, this staff member should be Uwe or Junior (as they were online a few min ago) or our great Admin Mgr (you never know when he's online !)

But I'm sure any staff member would have been as kind as them, only on GT you'll find such great people, believe me.

No, I want to reply to Brandon's post, even if it's dated July 11, 2009 (old posts are great too !) because i like his idea very much.

I would like to do exactly what he did (adding "blackdid" at the end of description in my 14 uploaded torrents so they're all reachable thru a torrent Search, if anyone types blackdid) especially since uwsguy102 notified my profile was "hidden" due to GT's known bug in often hiding profiles during creation, when they shouldn't be hidden, so noone knows [except GT staff] what you already uploaded because noone can access your profile.

The problem is : each time I want to edit one of my already uploaded torrents, I got the same error message : "You are not allowed to edit this torrent"  

The only torrent I'm allowed to edit is the last one (the 14th) I posted early this morning, here :

So the question is : why can't I edit my own torrents, even if they are old ?
Admin/Mods; would it be possible to allow me to edit them a few minutes so I can add the following line in my 13 first torrents, as I just did in my 14th ?

I agree with our Mods for banning the use of the code tags, but I would even ask more.
Just today, I saw 2 posts with active links in the Forum (http://…)

Of course Mods will certainly deactivate those links, maybe warn users who won't do it again (hopefully)
But well, there will always be newbies or people who forget to change the http to hxxp so the problem will still remain even without Code Tags

My suggestion is : would it be difficult to write a script that controls the Forum messages before they are posted and automatically refuses the message if the "http" string is found anywhere in the message (or if the link start with the "www" string, in case the user indicates an active link starting with www... which is really active too !)

The only remaining "http" (or "www") allowed would be those linked to gaytorrent or sextorrent (btw i notice Forum, tracker, bitbucket etc... have all gaytorrent.ru or sextorrent.ru in their url) , well guys you know those url's much better than me.

Sure this would bring some additional work for Mgr & Tom, but if you want a real peace of mind and NOT A SINGLE http link anymore in GT/ST, don't you think this could be a solution ?

Then users will be forced to write hxxp:// everywhere in the Forum, when they want to indicate an external url, because the "automatic post controller" will jump on them in case they wrote any http in their message and displays a horrible warning message while invalidating their post :

Ils écrivent que la seule possibilité c'est de supprimer le compte (horreur !) attendre 60 jours et en recréer un autre.
A tous les coups tu perds tout (ratio etc…) vraiment ca n'en vaut pas la peine, tu vas rester avec "lucckky" pendant pas mal de temps 

Mais bon, je ne suis pas modo, je pense que Uwe (modo qui répond aux questions en français) te répondra d'une manière plus sûre dès qu'il aura vu ton message.

Then the answer is yes, I can get directly to an outside URL with my browser Opera.
Probably mgr will confirm this tomorrow (he's on Opera too), if he does exactly what's in the attached pic found in my 1st message :

• Select any http adress within a Code Tag
• Right click
• Go to Web adress…and yes, Opera goes to the Web adress

So, referrer problem or not ?
If the Code Tag adds a kind of "encryption" to hide the GT web page we're in, it won't be an issue at all.
If not...only you know guys !

I"m not sure to have understood you perfectly (we don't use hxxp in Code Tag, do we ?) but the following tries will surely answer your question :

• All your obfuscated rapidshare links (http)  or any http link found in your Code Tags on the Cartoon & Comics page (or in any GT page) can be activated with Opera within a GT page (as shown in the attached pic of my precedent message) and those web pages will open normally, replacing the web page I was in (so I guess the referrer will be sent each time and this is my concern)

• Gladly, a selected hxxp link won't be opened with this Opera right click feature (it won't turn magically to http) and an error message will appear, for example "hxxp://www.wtule.net  =>  The address type is unknown or unsupported"

If you want me to try something else, please let me know
