Though the campaign was filled with unprecedented negativity, and even though Trump seems to be one of the most unqualified to hold the position, I really hope for the best for America and by extension the rest of the world. The only reason outsiders care so much is because the influence of America is felt all over the world.
May the new President overcome his failings and rise to the job. I still need to recover from the shock.

People look at the dollar value fall… you wanted to make a great america? The market is not happy... it might bring about a new economic crysis... and no Trump can't do shit about gay rights because removing them might be unconstitutional... let's wait and see

Completely devastated to say the least. Painful to see a man who embodies a values system composed of hurtful qualities we have sought to fight against, like xenophobia, racism & sexism, elected last night. My ensuing rant is below for casual reading lol
The irony is that America has followed the footsteps of the UK. This is eerily similar to the events prior to and after the historic referendum vote to leave the EU. Disenfranchised middle class white rural voters, who were dissatisfied with government policies dictated by the urban elite and EU politicians, voted for a drastic change that people around the world did not predict would happen. The rhetoric used by Nigel Farage, UKIP, and the Leave Campaign to rally the disenfranchised is basically what we heard and witnessed during the debates and election coverage over the past few months.
In the UK, Leave voters who bought into the nostalgia tactic and explained during interviews or in articles that they wanted to return to a time when the UK was strong and great without the EU in the picture. We saw Leave voters swayed and romanced by a hypothetical savings of 350m that can go towards funding the NHS instead of EU membership that Farage and his allies promoted during interviews and on the side of a tour bus, only to watch Farage nonchalantly deny his involvement with the quote and his allies and the Leave Campaign for giving out false information. And then the Regrexit saga, with Leave voters wanted a mulligan after the media reported on secondary consequences to leaving the EU that was never talked about by the Leave Campaign. Many admitted believing their vote would stem the flow of unwanted immigrant populations responsible for stealing NHS resources and jobs away from rightful UK citizens. Blissfully unaware that the future existence of crucial EU programs like farm subsidies, infrastructure and development projects in outlying UK cities and grants to UK educational institutions would be in jeopardy with a vote to leave. Voters were inspired by the rhetoric of the Leave campaign and they showed up to cast a vote that set the UK on a course of uncharted territory without maps or navigation equipment to safely reach the desired destination.
I wonder what our Regrexit will look like. What unanticipated change will cause Trump voters to reflect on their vote? Speculation, i know… and littered with pessimism. I just cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel. As least UK citizens have some control over their destiny. America voted someone into presidential office considered a joke to others around the world. Anything is possible at this point. And that is scary. I do find humor in the fact that it's yet another typical American phenomenon

So… does this mean he will cancel the legalization of same sex marriage? ???
Not necessarily. Since the Supreme Court upheld and landmarked same-sex marriage, it is going to be difficult for him to remove it and that's if he truly wants to remove it. The Republicans want to get rid of it and invalidate same-sex marriages, but they first have to either get enough votes (Republican and Democrat) to create and pass override legislation against the Supreme Court's ruling from 2015 or somehow get a case in front of the Supreme Court that would make the Supreme Court reverse its decision. Same-sex marriage is safe and all those who married should not get too worried too quick. I do not support Trump in any way but I'm seeing many people panicking over things that will take an overwhelming majority of Congress (Republican and Democrat) to change. Do you honestly think Democrats will cave in and vote with Republicans to remove the right of same-sex marriage?

It is a matter of opinion.
All the right-thinkings seem to agree in expressing a certain line of thought,
one that has been followed for many years and that has left so many people behind,
now we have a situation where the market that wants stability, and people want to change.
The people are sovereign: they chose. Respect for democracy is essential.Hot comments make little sense, it would be wiser to just wait and see what happens.
Brexit and the latest election set a path in the same direction:
try to extract a solution for the problems of the people in a different way.Thomas Jefferson said
“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”This is even more true for corporations:
they're afraid of people, because they use the people to gain economic power,
if the people decide the markets are no longer relevant for their interests,
then the speculation of the financial market is essentially irrelevant.Corporations and investors use this as a deterrence/vengeance tool,
calling this uncertainty to constrict people: this is not fair and deeply wrong. If duties on Chinese products will be applied, then many people I know will support him again.

Americans have gone mad (at least about 60.000.000 of them).
But he… America got the President they voted for and they deserve.
I pity them, but at least we know what makes America great:
Racism, Hatred, Xenophobia and kissing Putin´s arse. -
I am thoroughly disgusted. To think that in this day and age we can elect a bigoted, racist, xenophobic, homophobic president with a right-wing, evangelical, bible-literalist nutjob of a vice president is beyond me. Everything this country stands for has officially been thrown out the window in favor of this creep.
Our only hope is somebody assassinates him (and Pence), the republican moderates in the house and senate keep his antics to a minimum, or he does something stupid (which he will) and gets himself impeached.

Proud to have helped deliver him Pennsylvania! ;D

I don't think so: recognising problems is important.
As far as I'm concerned:
- dictatorship in thought has always brought bad results (aka gone mad, assassinations and all that)
- the denial observed in Europe will lead to its collapse if a change will not be correctly handled
- this is an unexplored path, no matter how controversial a first step is, it's welcome

Ditto.
I gotta say, though, I was really drunk last night (personal reasons, not because of the election. Just good timing there) and felt a lot more open to the idea of silver linings. I woke up this afternoon feeling as if I'd come out of a nightmare. Now that the alcohol has worn off, the gravity off this is starting to sink in. His temperament just scares me so much in terms of foreign policy. But I am also hoping that his victory has been sobering, and that he realizes the importance of his position.
I am not going to engage in partisan bullying and all that shit. I didn't vote for either candidate, and I wouldn't have been happier with either being elected. I am going to remain open-minded, but that doesn't change the fact that I am still pretty worried. If no other good comes of this, I'm likely to be a lot more involved/vocal than ever before in checking the President-elect on his bullshit (same would've been true of Hillary, though), because I am determined not to let him make a catastrophe out of his presidency. I am not going to be outright obstinate (I loathe divisive, counterproductive partisan obstinacy and pettiness), but I'm no longer going to be as complacent and apathetic as I have been historically, having always hated politics to begin with.
Please don't be everything the Dems said you'd be, Trump. I am hoping he realizes his position, tones down his insolence and rhetoric and finally becomes more presidential. One reassuring thing is that it does seem like he's been doing so gradually. He's toned down his overall arrogance and oafishness considerably since last year. Not nearly enough, but enough to notice. So here's to hoping for continued personal progress on his end. If he doesn't shape the fuck up, I can at least take solace in knowing his insolence will not help him to accomplish anything, and he'll be a lame duck president.

I do love Alec Baldwin's Trump impression.

Ok Trump is a master in recognizing problems, but also a master in not having any solution that is going to work.
But because Trump recognizes problems, he is worth your vote?
That I don't get from the Trump voters. The man is rambling on, names a few problems and some unworkable solutions and they vote for it.
Clinton is by far not the best thinkable candidate, that I admit. But Trump is so far worse. -
I think it should be, "Make America H8 Again!"
I'm disappointed.
