Thank you very much for this older entry.  I strongly believe in "RTFM" and routinely search the forum for solutions to my usage questions. I had a torrent (XTube.CAM4.GAY.AMAT.MEGABK.1.Ch.28S.-.BERLIN.MUSCLE.BUTT.JOCK.RAW.FUCK.CRUISERS) in FINISHED state when I saw during a routine search that it was "recycled".  When I started it, it would just so go to "QUEUED SEED".  Since the number of active torrents (6) was less than my queue limit of 10, I started trying to get it to seed, especially since I could see from the search page that there were already a dozen leeching on it with only 3 seeds active.
I originally googled for articles dealing with progressing from queued seed to seeding states and after over an hour of reading not very helpful (and sometimes sanctimonious) replies to similar questions, I switched to searching GTru's forum.  Duh on my part. Within a couple of minutes, I had useful information and performed the Force Start and immediately got results. I joined the seed pool and now there are 4 seeds helping the 19 peers get their copy of the torrent.

The last torrent that the site shows that you uploaded was uploaded over a month ago. What I suspect that you're seeing is the session total that the site displays, which will only show the upload amount of the current session. Any time the torrent is stopped and started again, this session total will reset as the totals have already been added to your grand total counts. The values that you see in your torrent client on the other hand are the grand total that you have transferred in all sessions since the torrent was added to your torrent client. Also, the totals in your torrent client also reflect the total amount transferred including network overhead traffic. For this reason, there may be a slight difference between the grand total in your torrent client and the grand total reflected on the tracker.

Having checked with a Mac-owning friend, there are no special steps to uploading with a Mac.

All you need is a torrent client (for example Vuze or uTorrent) to create the torrent file. Then gather at least one decent picture and some information about your file.

Do a thorough search to check you are not posting a duplicate file.

To upload, click on Upload button at the top of this page, then click Upload Page. Then you just need to follow the steps on that page.

So you choose at least one category from the drop down box when you click the down arrow (you can choose more now or later).

Then the rest of the steps appear:

Choose Pic(s). From your hard disk upload at least one decent picture. If you upload 10, others won't be able to add. And remember the pictures will appear in reverse order so that the last one you post will appear first on your torrent page. So if you want the front cover to appear as the first picture, upload it last.

Torrent Name This is the title that will appear at the top of the page. There is an ongoing discussion about how specific this should be (eg studio names) but try and make it something that will show up in a search for this movie.

NFO and URL You can probably ignore these until you are more familiar with the process.

Description Here is where you should describe what the torrent is all about. Technical details are not necessary but I like to include the cast and a brief description of the plot. If you are posting a collection this is also where you list the files (perhaps easier after you have uploaded because you can just copy/paste the list of files as posted)

Torrent File This is where you choose the torrent file you created earlier.

Then you DO IT. This will upload everything to the site but the torrent will not yet be visible. Now is a good time to see if you have made any mistakes because you can still edit or even delete at this stage.

DOWNLOAD YOUR OWN TORRENT, yes, the one you have just uploaded because that will then contain the information for the tracker to seed. Now open that torrent (make sure you don't use your original torrent) in your torrent client as you would any other and, when asked where to save, point to the exact file (or folder if you are being bold but start simple, I say) that you made the torrent from. Just to add it may say it will overwrite the file - it won't but if you feel nervous make a copy of the file and save elsewhere.

Your torrent client will Check the file (if it does anything else you are not using the correct file). Once it has checked it will start seeding.

It may take a few minutes for your file to become visible. Once the Type (category) line appears, you are seeding and you can sit back and wait for the dozens of thank yous and hundreds of bonus points to shower down… dream on.

If this is your very first upload then check out the First Time Uploader banner, usually on the front page of the Search pages and claim an extra 600 points!

Now you can sit back, sip your wine and choose your next share. Good luck 🙂

A good app to find duplicate files is CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

It does lots more besides but has a very handy file finder tool giving a lot of options.

I'm not sure I understand what you want to do with the torrents.

I had no illusions that we could get every take down listed (although I'm feel the automatic messages sent to uploaders could be copied to a thread).

But any information is more than we get now 🙂

I just thought I'd add that when a duplicate torrent is removed, it is removed differently than it is for other types of removal. It is pulled from the public view, but is kept active on the tracker until all active peers have finished downloading its content. Removing a torrent for a duplicate does not prevent anyone's successful completion of the download. 🙂

5 mbit upload?!?! I'd kill for an upload speed like that. I'm currently stuck on a legacy DSL line where I'm promised a max upload speed of about 800 kbit, but in reality, I only actually ever receive at most about 600 kbit. You should count yourself lucky that you're not living in the middle of nowhere where internet speeds are a complete joke.

That post represents the current thinking about the rules and as such, is much more instructive about what the rules mean as opposed to what the rules say. This is important because in the end enforcement of them is performed by people who are given wide latitude to interpret them according to their understanding of the context, and not necessarily the text, of the rules.

From the sounds of it, it sounds like your router is not properly forwarding the correct port (46317) both in TCP and UDP from your router through to your computer. In some cases, UPnP can accomplish this, but from my experience, it's always best to manually forward said port to ensure that it is properly configured to forward your torrent traffic to you.

A lot of people do not realize that they're behind both a DNAT (Destination Network Address Translator) and SNAT (Source Network Address Translator) on their connection, as this is often built into the modem itself on most common setups these days. What happens is your ISP will assign a public (WAN) IP address for your connection. This IP is generally assigned straight to the modem. This will mean that you will get say 24.212.250.201 (a random IP address for this purpose), which will be acknowledged by the modem. Your modem/router will then assign an IP address on a private subnet to your computer (say, 192.168.1.100). When your computer makes a connection out to the internet, the SNAT automatically converts your computer's IP of 192.168.1.100 to 24.212.250.201 before sending it out to the internet so that the internet knows how to route back to your connection.

The problem comes in here where the rules for the DNAT are missing. Unless your computer manages to negotiate with your router VIA UPnP (which can be hit or miss sometimes), your router will receive the connection request on TCP or UDP port 46317, however since it does not consistently have the DNAT rule in place to forward those connections to your computer and there are now follow-back paths from open connections in which to route to your computer with, the signal does not make its way back to your computer, and thus, incoming connectivity is lost. Forwarding these ports however varies from one router setup to another, so in order to give you more specific instruction, I would first need some basic information about your network's setup.

Also, please be aware that there is such a thing as a DHCP lease time. In a nutshell, when your computer requests an IP address from your router, it will obtain a DHCP lease, which binds the IP address to your MAC address for a predetermined period of time. If this lease should expire or the power to the router device is lost, the IP address goes back into the pool for another device to potentially claim. For this reason, sometimes these settings will need to be adjusted when this change occurs. There is however a way to get around this. Some routers will allow you to add a static DHCP reservation to bind your internal IP address to the MAC address of your computer. This is the recommended option if it's available, as this does not require changing settings on your computer should you ever move it (which is often the case with a laptop). The other option of course is to manually set an IP address for your computer outside the DHCP range on your router. This will ensure that another computer or device doesn't come along and steal your computer's IP address with all of these forwarding rules set into place.

Other advice that might help?

Initially choose only new torrents to download that seem popular, to insure that you will have others downloading (from you, to raise your ratio) after you finish. Our site runs a bit different than other torrent sharing porn sites, because of the vast number of new torrents that get uploaded every day. This tends to make the "popularity" of new torrents be rather short-lived; thus you need to really choose VERY RECENT torrents to download, to share, when trying to repair your ratio.

The best way to continue to earn upload credit is to seed EVERYTHING you download, forever. This means DO NOT STOP your torrent nor torrent client, after downloading completes. KEEP IT RUNNING, so it can seed to the the next member who wants this video, and help improve your ratio. While continuing to seed, you'll be earning a bonus point every two hours you offer to seed, regardless of whether other members are downloading from you or not.

Keep a very close eye on your Ratio, since it will take considerably more time to UPLOAD than it did to download. I would suggest you activate certain columns in your torrent client, so as to keep a close eye on each torrent statistics, in the future. On most torrent programs, you can right-click in the column headings and choose additional columns to be able to view.

I personally recommend "Name", "Size", "Done", "Added on", "Status", "Completed", "Down Speed", "Up Speed", "Seeds", "Ratio", "Peers", "ETA", and Tracker" as essential information and sort-columns. On most torrent programs, you activate these headings by right-clicking on the headings, and selecting and de-selecting your headings, as needed. You can also re-size the headings, by clicking and holding down on the right side of the heading, and dragging it a little bit to the left. You can reposition the columns by clicking (on the column heading) and holding down the mouse button, dragging the column left or right, as desired.

Reasons why a torrent may go "unregistered" (deletion from tracker) include:

#1 DMCA takedown from confirmed copyright claim
#2 Identified as a duplicate
#3 Failure of an upload to be initially seeded to completion after about 1 week
#4 Removal due to inclusion of banned material or claim of underage performers

Occasionally the tracker itself becomes disconnected due to server/technical issues, but this will affect all torrents in a torrent client, not just one or two.

…and, if you go to upload something and find it in the system already, download the .torrent file, link it to the content on your hard drive and start seeding it
