Set your search parameter to sort by “Size” instead of the default “Upload-Date” when checking for duplicates, selecting “ascending” or “descending” depending on the size of your upload.

Also, change the default “active” to “including dead” as an added measure.

A quick scan of the sizes, checking only those offerings sized similarly to yours will tell you all you need to know.

Anything with a size difference to your upload of greater than 10% is considered as not being a duplicate, even if it’s the same video and format. 😉

        My bad…

Omit the adjective "quick" as this (or any adjective) is based on an opinion...plus it actually isn't quick. It is easy though (but then again, that's an opinion).

Another good idea is to search for DVDs you have and make a modern MKV rip of them if only AVIs exist. You would be contributing a better quality version made for modern computers.

Not just computers… Some mobile devices as well, such as my new Motorola Moto Z Play smartphone, which can handle pretty well any format, up to and including full 1080p HD. It's apparently a VERY new and also pretty badass little handheld device that even out-powers my relatively recent Asus laptop, as sad as that is to say.

Yeap!  Technology has come a long way.
