@raphjd those 5% of change their minds should not want us to stop transcare .....they should want us to make transcare better.... Better at identifying those who are more prone to change their minds, better at identifying the ones who aren't really sure.
Wouldn't that approach be beneficial for BOTH the 5% and the 95%
@raphjd dealing with a person's mental health requires a level of a dynamism (AKA skirting age requirements when the benefits outweigh the detriments). That dynamism is vacant in your cookie cutter approach to age limits.
I'm not saying cookie cutters are bad... they work wonderfully for a whole lot of things.
There are very few things in society that should broach our standardized cookie cutter age limits that we have in place for things like voting drinking driving etc. trans care is one of them when it's done in capable hands, not the ones of the horror stories that you've heard about ...people who change their minds, they probably weren't in capable hands, unfortunately for them.
Just like people who die in plane crashes ....you would think gosh those planes crashing, that really should have been fixed by now..... yet they still crash... but each one makes us safer.

Would a tattoo help you change your outlook? Would being a prostitute help you change your outlook?
Probably not because neither of those behaviors are ones that really help to counter a deep seated depression arising from being trapped inside a body that you don't feel is yours.
Getting a tattoo and being a prostitute are respectively, frivolous and potentially infectious. Maybe that's why there's age limit to those things (for prostitution, at least in Nevada... I don't believe there's an "age limit" anywhere else for that). The benefits to transitioning care for someone who feels trapped in their body is enormous and easily justifies the age restrictions already in place
@blablarg18 I can see the excitement in your eyes just hoping and praying that more and more of these 'thought-they-were-trans-but ended-up-changing-their-minds' type of people, because without them it's just you yelling at some nonbinary child receiving tablets from a pharmacy.
Unfortunately for you the numbers are pretty static at about 1 to 5%. I know you wish there would be a larger number because that would make your argument much more smoother but unfortunately 1-5% is where it's been for the past 20 years. And as social workers get better at filtering out the "changed minds" that number can only go lower

But by your own logic you're not applying that same standard
So the serial rapist wouldn't be punished for the criminal actions they wanted to take while under 25, so why are the 95% of likely successful transitions being punished for the criminal actions they want to take (If transitions were banned?)

@raphjd no matter how much you try to inflate the very minuscule number of people who change their mind as some sort of clarion call we all must heed, the warning of which demonstrates some huge horrible medical mistake affecting people everywhere, you can never erase the thousands more, many more, who successfully undergo these treatments and have no qualms about it. Those numbers will always dwarf the ones who made a mistake
@raphjd 100% of breast reductions in trans care should be banned because 5% of them will eventually change their minds. The other 95%, although very upset that they couldn't transition, should nevertheless take comfort in knowing that through their sacrifice they will have spared 5% from having to change their minds

For all the people who can get married in the many many many states at the age of 16 I apologize to them on your behalf for calling them children.
Think you're splitting hairs here.... But this takes us back to that percentage of those people who are having these treatments and changing their minds. It's like saying gay marriage should be ruled illegal again because 5% of gay marriages end in divorce
