[H3O]mens starts from a meeting of three dancers / actors on stage. An investigation of the man. Being a man. Man's body. Having a penis. One man in front of another man. A man leaning against another man. A man dancing for another man. The men who are on the scene. The men who are the scene. The men in the investigation of the body as a support for any discourse.
According to director Carlos Canhameiro, the starting point of [H3O]mens is the book 'The Social Construction of Being Man and Being Woman' by Anailde Almeida, but he points out that this is not an adaptation of the book - it was used rather for jumpstarting the creative process.
Far from wanting to create a scenic material that gives answers to what it is like to be a man at the expense of a woman or a study of the masculine and feminine, the show discusses how the masculine and feminine roles are undergoing accelerated transformations and, in the midst of turbulence, we struggle in search of nexus and frameworks.
"The dance, theater and intervention that we seek with this project do not wish to represent any theoretical writing. We hope that the meeting of the men on the scene, with the help of the choreographers, will be sufficient for a communion of a desired theme between the dancers and the audience", says the director.
