Actually, I do, though it won't happen that soon, unlike real life relationship. Also, I think it often happens unplanned.

I met my current boyfriend in late December 2012 on facebook, and at that time I expected nothing less. After a couple of months conversing, hat initially started off as a casual friendly relationship turned into something more I think and I didn't expect that, and that's even before I got to meet him because he was miles away from me. However, we didn't immediately engage in a relationship until I met him in 2015. And after getting to know personally some more (took around 3-5 months, give or take) we eventually made it official, although neither of us didn't exactly propose to each other.

So, because of that, I think you can actually be in online relationship and if you survive long enough, you may be able to meet that person some day.

Few of them actually greeted me first in Grindr and after chatting for some time, we became friends. We didn't immediately hang out together though, it took a couple of times first, while I met some other few in facebook.

If you mean if I ever have met the ones like jocks, bears, twinks, etc, the answer is I only have met twinks and bears and they are some of the most affectionate people I've met. For gays at least. I haven't met jocks save for the ones in dating app, and so far they ignore me. I'm personally unattractive (in my opinion), so I assume the jock types won't be into me in real life, even for being mere friends.
