What's funny about this is that I really do think that raphjd didn't read the letter in question. And certainly didn't read the New York Post article with a critical eye. Instead, he blindly assumed that this was the "gotcha" he'd been waiting for, that would allow him to triumph over everyone here and so he rushed here to post this so that we would all have to eat crow.
Instead, alas, he's exposed himself as something of a gullible fool. What's worse for him is that he cannot admit that he was wrong in this case, so he's caught between a rock and a hard place. He can't defend those ridiculous assertions of his and he can't back off of them, either. So he'll continue to dodge, duck, evade, and attack rather than accept reality. Poor guy.

That was one of two things that immediately leaped to my attention when I read the Post story, that and the fact that they didn't link to the letter. If you're going to put in large type on the front page that you're talking about "SPIES WHO LIE," it behooves you to actually come up with a lie. The Post couldn't. And they counted on useful idiots like you to overlook that fact, which you promptly did.

@lmsuon : Yes, it's possible and yes, you can just use the torrent file on the site; you don't need to create a new one. And, in fact, you shouldn't, since you are correct that it would be a dupe.
You would download the existing torrent file, look at the filename of the file it is pointing to, then rename your own file to match.
Next, you would load the torrent file into your torrent app and point it to the folder where your own version of the file is located. The app will scan your file, recognize that all of the pieces are there, and will immediately put the torrent into seeding mode.
If the app starts to download rather than immediately going to 100%, the two most common problems are either that you got the filename wrong or the files really aren't identical. If it's the first problem, you should see two video files in the directory: your own and the one that the torrent is creating. You can copy the filename from the new file, delete it, then rename your own file and start the process all over again.
I suspect that most of the newcomers here have experienced similar problems. There's such an amazing quantity of material here, it's just an overwhelming temptation to download everything that looks good. And if you're downloading some of the stuff that's been on the site for years, it can be really tough to give back.
Once you've been around a little while and you're really only looking at the newer stuff on a regular basis, it becomes much easier to maintain a good ratio.
@Kowmei : The way that torrents work is that we are all sharing files with each other. When you are downloading a file or group of files here, you're not downloading it from the site or from a server, you're downloading it from your fellow members.
Your torrent app connects you to your peers and allows you to get pieces of the file or files from them. Similarly, as you get these pieces, your torrent app allows others to connect to you and pick up those pieces from you.
The only reason that any files are available to everyone here is that we all choose to share, to allow others to download from us just as we are downloading from them.
If you download a file and then immediately delete the torrent file from your app, you are taking but not giving. If everyone did that, there would be little or no content here.
Basically, after you have downloaded a file, you need to keep the torrent active in your torrent app so that others can download it from you. You should be aiming at an overall ratio of 1.00 (100%), meaning that you are giving back just as much as you are taking. For every GB you download from others here, you should be letting others download a GB from you.
When your ratio gets really low, there are a few ways you can correct this:
As John notes above, take advantage of the FreeLeech torrents. Those files don't count against your download numbers but do count for your upload numbers, so they will help your ratio improve.
When you have been around longer, you'll pick up more bonus points. You can exchange these for upload numbers (https://www.gaytor.rent/getbonus.php).
Donate to the site (https://www.gaytor.rent/donate.php). Right now, the site is running a special offer, so that if you donate just 10 euros, you can get 35GB added to your upload total.
Reactivate some of the files you've already downloaded by reloading the torrent file into your torrent app and pointing it at the file you previously downloaded. Your progress bar should go to 100% and that file will be put into seeding mode, making it available to others.
Upload new content here. Look around in your collection to see if you have files that aren't already being shared here. If so, go ahead and upload them.
It can be really frustrating at times, since downloading usually works so much faster than uploading does. And if you download an older file, you may be the only one who is downloading it, meaning that you can't give back, even if you want to. The solution is to give back more on some files so that when you can't give back that much on other files, you're still okay overall.
For the record, I currently have about 70 torrents sitting in my app right now, all of which are finished downloading and most of which I'm still waiting to give back 100% on.
