    • New forum feature: Downloads!

      We have now implemented a new feature in our forum: A file download area where you can download the utility programs which are often mentioned in our forum or other help information. You can download those files via the download button in the forum menu bar.

      We will announce new files in this very section, but with locked topics only. If you want to discuss a download please create a topic like "Discussion of …" or similar so that the announcements themselves stay just announcements.

      For comments for specific downloads please use the comments for files in the download area.

      If you have further questions in general about uploads: Please ask those questions in the GayTorrents.ru Discussions board, not here!

      We are glad to bring you this offer - please use it and rate the offered uploads too.

      BTW: All files in this area are virus checked with several programs and are free of threats for your computer!

      Hmmm - I did NOT write what I think, did I? Just a feature request for our site deserves a decent answer.

      Ich hoffe, die Gründe sind für Dich einsehrbar 🙂

    • RE: Problem with uTorrent/downloading torrents

      Do you use a "download accelerator" program or your browser's download function?

      In my browser (Opera 10.61) I can configure to save downloaded torrent files directly to a folder on my LAN - a folder which is "observed" by uTorrent automatically. This way I can download torrent files, click on save in Opera's open/save dialog and the rest is done automatically by uTorrent (on another computer in my LAN). Chalk it on my laziness that I selected this solution - it works OK for me for 99,… % of all my torrent downloads. It is a rare case when I have to work "manually" for a torrent download 🙂

      @ja32:

      I'd be happy to donate if there were a way to do it anonymously. But I don't need a charge from gaytorrent.ru popping up on my credit card service.  😕

      There is no hint about GayTorrent.ru on your credit card at all. Please have a look at this thread where more questions about our donations are answered.

      To the OP's idea of resetting an account's ratio: If a new member really would read the Rules/FAQ and the important information section in our forum (which he promised to do when signing in btw) he must know about our most important aim of sharing what he gets for free.  I don't know how many accounts got seeding help (prolonging their grace period after a low-ratio warning) and how many said at least a thank you (not to speak how many really started to share from that time onwards).  After my experience such a solution would only prolong the problem until his "allowed resets" are over and the same situation would arise. I admit - I'm also human and sometimes feel disappointed and discouraged by the "thoughtlessness" of greedy users who just want to get, get, get and don't bother to give at least a bit back. (And I think I can say the same for most of our staff members too).

      But no - just have a look at our home page where we list the banned accounts which were banned because of ratio cheating and those who were caught creating duplicate accounts to cheat on our ratio rules an do such a "reset" for themselves. Does someone really expect that such a behaviour encourages us to implement a reset-ratio request? (Which as I said before, would not really solve the problem of greediness at all).

      @Bernd:

      …
      Das wirft bei mir die Frage auf, wo man die Blocklisten her bekommt, welche empfehlenswert sind und wie man sie lädt?

      Die erste und dritte Frage hat horyna ja bereits beantwortet, bleibt die zweite: welche ist empfehlenswert.

      Im Listmanager bietet PeerBlock 4 verschiedene Listen zur Auswahl an: P2P, Spyware, Advertising und Educational. Da ich mein Netzwerk gegen unerwünschte Werbung und Spyware anderweitig schütze (und mit Schulen auch nichts mehr zu tun habe 🙂 ) habe ich bei mir nur die P2P liste aktiviert.

      Du kannst außerdem auch eigene Listen erstellen - wenn das einer hat wäre ich durchaus interessiert daran auch so etwas zu bekommen 🙂

      Zu bedenken ist lediglich: je mehr Listen Du aktivierst desto mehr (vielleicht auch harmlose) Peers werden geblockt. Das ist eine Sache der eigenen Sicherheitsbedürfnisse und Abwägung von Vor- und Nachteilen.

    • RE: Please ban Lucas Entertainment productions

      Please have a look also at out banned content list.

      A VPN can only protect you if it works over a proxy server (to hide your IP address - btw: GTGuard is also a proxy server) or you have to build a VPN tunnel with every peer to seed/leech a torrent. What sense does that make?

      @Hier0nymous:

      …
      If the torrent file is deleted, seeders won't seed once they find out the torrent is deleted,

      oups? That is news for me - because seeders DO have that torrent already and seeding such a torrent further does not depend on the torrent's existence on the tracker. If you mean: seeders will voluntarily stop seeding - you might(!) be right - although our experience with lost torrents (after our server crash in January) proves the opposite - there are a lot of missing torrents which are still seeded by some of our members.That is the only reason our efforts to "replace" lost torrent files can be successful.

      And another word to proxy servers: you have also to trust the owner of such a server that he does not keep log files. As I am no lawyer I can't tell you if they can be forced to  keep log-files. I still believe the the less "log-capable" points you have in your p2p connections the better for you.

      Another security measure on our tracker is the switching off of the scrape activity (for not active torrents). By setting up another tracker (by an anti-p2p company for example) that functionality could permit to get the complete list of swarm-IPs.

      @Hier0nymous:

      Strykerforce is right: peerguardian does not protect. Vpn, Torrentprivacy (ssh tunnel), GT Guard etc.

      I get more and more surprised by such pronouncements. I already pointed out the the protection you can get from such programs depends on their block-lists. AFAIK peerguardian is is not further developed, but the successor PeerBlock seems to be  current - at least the anti-p2p block list is updated on my side every two days and I see more and more IP addresses in their block list - even German lawyers and some German studios are blocked by PeerBlock - so I stay with my recommendation of PeerBlock as a quite useful defense.

      Das ist der Grund, warum Lucas Entertainment Filme ab Produktionsjahr 2009 bei uns neuerdings gebannt sind. Glücklicherweise ist LE derzeit nur in den USA so aktiv - mir sind aber auch deutsche Produktionsfirmen bekannt, die sich wohl auch an sogenannten "Abmahnwellen" beteiligen. Deswegen empfehle ich ein Programm wie Peer Block, das vor vielen anti-p2p Firmen schützt (bei mir sind auch IP-Adressen von deutschen Rechtsanwaltskanzleien bereits geblockt worden 😞 ).

      Dieses Programm habe ich bereits vor einiger Zeit empfohlen (http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=4749.msg34121#msg34121).

      Ich kann daher nur dringend empfehlen, sich selbst gegen soche Spionageversuche zu schützen!

      Why does that happen always on Sundays?

      Sundays are usually the most quiet times for servers - so hosting companies tend to do their maintenance on quiet days (and usually also in quiet hours) - where something like quiet does not really apply to servers like our server with members around the world 😞

      @martini20:

      It would be very useful to see all of a user's seed bonus data even if their profile is set to 'security settings doesn't allow to show you the Profile!'

      That way, a more informed choice on whether or not you want to give seed bonus points, can be made

      and

      @brandonboi:

      It would be great if we could see stats of seed bonus point requesters.  That way i would l know if they really needed the sbp before I give them to them.

      Now I'm really puzzled, did you never visit our forum? 🙂 (of course you did 🙂 ) The information about a poster in the forum says everything you asked for (like my example of this thread) :

      Posts: 1,785
      Topics: 302
      Ratio: 3.605
      Uploaded: 4.48 TB
      Downloaded: 1.24 TB
      SeedBonus: 4825.125
      Avg ULSpeed: Ø43.74 kB

      OK - if a user does not post in the forum this information is not available - but for me this is a help in deciding about giving SBP as well.

      And to address the next question (about anonymous uploaders) right now: I value this mode of staying anonymous (secure profile for power users) higher than the question about help for deciding if (and when yes how many) SBP to give - not taking in account that this is a feature for power users with a ratio > 1.05. They usually do not need SBP - but of course you can give SBP to them too - based only of the torrent's worth for you (that was our first goal why we implemented the thank you method with SBP).

      @Uwe:

      …
      Certainly possible and likely on Tom's or mgr's to do list already.  :crazy2:

      In fact it is - but to implement a real correct solution would imply to create a real table for all future up/download amounts up to the current maximum step > 800 GB download traffic. If someone thinks it is worth to redo the complete calculation (because only regarding the next step is not enough, especially in the lower steps), please let me know.

      Up to now I've got the impression that only some (countable) few members are really aware of the rationator rules - how else can you explain the countless complaints about still having taken away their download rights although "Your warning said I need a minimum ratio of 0.2" while their download traffic in the meantime rose from 1.2 GB (at the time of the warning) to more than 25 GB when they complain?

    • RE: Time for torrent approval

      May be I'm allowed to throw in my 2 cents:

      sorry if I beat an already dead horse: Sorry to say - but we can not give any time frame for approving uploaded torrents for various reasons

      • we can't establish a time table so that we have at least in that time-table covered a regular period each day (not speaking of seven days a week). We (the admins) ask a moderator to be present on the site for at least one hour each day, that would require at least 24 moderators only for torrent approval alone, but only if all those moderators live in different time zones around the world so that really 24 hours can be realized and, more important, if really all those moderators are available to do their work each and every day. I think that is an illusory aim 😞

      • there are a lot of other parts of the site where our members expect also moderator presence like the forum, the help desk …

      • we are right now in vacation time (at least in Europe) - so that would make any time table not worth the paper it is written upon (rather the computer storage to save it) - not speaking about some things like illness, family (rather BF) issues (also gay people DO have family) although there are not only gay people in the staff - and becoming a father takes quite a lot of time away from you - and I even didn't talk about economic issues which make real life work much more stressful than it was ten years ago 😞

      • given that most of our torrents (more than 70% against 12 % from moderators in the US, rest mostly from Asian moderators) are approved from mods in Europe (remember the different time zones!!!) it is not really easy to find a moderator (which does torrent approval) during daytime in the US - just another problem

      • we constantly search for new moderators and we are lucky to get an aspirant too once in a while - on the other hand that also takes away time from our existing staff because new mods have a learning phase too and moderator newbie questions are usually important and urgent.

      • …

      But the most important reason (at least for me) is: When we give a time frame we have to adhere to that time frame. (I'm not going to promise something I can't do later on).

      As to our rules: we always try to have only those rules which are important for our members. Asking for uploading rules: our upload guide was mentioned before - I guess there is no other place where you can find all rules for uploading and hints for easy torrent approval combined together than the 2nd part of that guide. (Sorry for the "fishing for compliments" in that last sentence). You can find some "draft" of that part also in the forum: http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=2202.msg7340#msg7340

      @blackdid:

      …
      Well now I should ask it officially in the request thread : it would be great if this good functionality could be seen by standard members too.
      Then, if a user waits for his approval during hours and notices meanwhile 10 new approvals...all in green "AA" color, he would know there's nobody working on torrent approval (more or less), this should soothe his pain...a little

      Better than staying in his own depressed mood : "My God, why hast thou forsaken me?"  ;D

      If you can give me a real good reason to show AA-users in a different color. That information is important for moderators, because they not only have to approve new uploaded torrents but also (and especially) to check torrents from AA users for possible mistakes, you'd be astonished (to avoid "scared") how many AA-uploaded torrents have mistakes (like duplicates). It was (and still is) intended to make work for those moderators who not only approve torrents but check torrents from AA-users a bit easier.

    • RE: .ru langsamer als .net - beim upload

      @269091:

      1. Ich uploade zu .net und zu .ru - aber die upload Raten bei .net sind immer viel höher - bei gleichen Präferenzen und Zuweisungen.

      Im Moment uploade ich parallel - aber das Phänomen habe ich schon vorher bemerkt - wenn es nur EINEN aktiven torrent gab, der eigentlich die ganze Bandbreite für sich haben konnte.

      Heute ein torrent zu .net 40-60k
      Morgen ein torent zu .ru 0-15k

      Hat jemand eine Idee, woran das liegen könnte (Lt. Provider habe ih 512 upload - aber das kann sich ja nicht auswirken, wenn es nur einen torrent gibt)

      Das kann(!) auch mit der Anzahl der leecher im gesamten Schwarm zusammenhängen, je mehr leecher da sind, desto größer wird auch Deine Uploadgeschindigkeit sein. Das muss zwar nicht immer so sein, ist aber regelmäßig der Fall, wenn Du der einzige seeder bist. Außerdem kann es sein, das andere Peers im Schwarm auch Seedboxen benutzen, die eine viel höhere uploadgeschwindigkeit zulassen. Das BitTorrent Protokoll ist so ausgerichtet, dass es Peers mit höheren Geschwindigkeiten bevorzugt.

      Ein kleiner Irrtum noch zu Deinen Zahlen. ISPs geben die Geschwindigkeiten fast immer in Kilo-/Mega-Bit an, was die meisten Torrent-Seiten (auch wir) und -Clientprogramme angeben sind Kilo-/Mega-Byte. Wenn Du das umrechnest (1 Byte sind 8 Bit) kommst Du auf eine maximale Uploadgeschwindigkeit von 64 KByte/s (= 512 KBit/s), da sind 15 KB/s upload noch durchaus im grünen Bereich 🙂

      @269091:

      2. Siehe hier: http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=79836&dllist=1#seeders

      Ich habe lt. meinem utorrent bei diesem torrent 984MB hochgeladen. Wie können so viele seeders den torrent komplett haben?
      Und wieso steht bei mir bei "uploaded" 2,75MB anstatt 984MB?

      uT summiert die Summe aller Deiner Uploads dieses Torrents seit Du den Torrent gestartet hast - also insgesamt (über die Aktivitätszeit des Torrent) 984 MB. Wir zeigen die (von uT gemeldete UploadMenge seit dem letzten Start des Torrents/von uTorrent an - das ist das was uT uns meldet. Wenn du den Torrent stoppst und anschließend wieder startest wird die Uploadmenge wieder von 0 an gerechnet (seit dem letzten Start des Torrents). Das ist aber kein Problem, weil die gesamte Uploadmenge eines Torrents für Deine Ratio uninteressant ist, wichtig ist die Uploadmenge aller Deiner Torrents, und die wird in deinem Profil immer richtig aufaddiert. Du kannst sie in deiner Statistikseite auch sehen (Klick auf Deinen Benutzernamen neben Welcome back um Deine Details anzuschauen).

      @269091:

      3. Ich habe einen zweiten torrent hochgeladen, der noch nicht approved ist. Trotzdem sehe ich in utorrent, dass er schon zwei leecher hat. Wo kommen die denn her???

      Das kann eigentlich nur zwei Ursachen haben:

      1. entweder zwei Staff member haben sich entschlossen, den Torrent vor dem approven selbst zu begutachten, z.B. ob er alle Regeln einhält (Das wäre ein Glücksfall für Dich, weil natürlich auch dieser Traffic mit Dir als einzigem Seeder Deinem Account gutgeschrieben wird 🙂

      2. oder Du hast den Torrent bereits woanders hochgeladen und dann bei uns denselben Torrent (mit anderem Tracker aber sonst unverändert) bei uns. Da sich dabei die sogenannte Hash-ID des Torrents nicht ändert, kann es sein dass andere User (oder womöglich Du selbst?) unseren Tracker als zusätzlichen Tracker in uT eingetragen haben. Das kann auch zu solchen Effekten führen - diesmal aber zu Deinem Pech, denn dieser Traffic wird natürlich nicht an useren sondern den anderen Tracker gemeldet und deshalb Deinem Account bei uns nicht gut geschrieben.

    • RE: YOUR RULES>>>lets discuss it…

      OK, besides your shouting let me try to explain why we use that rule (with friend visit):

      The main part of our duplicate account detection relies on the IP used (plus some more methods I won't explain in detail here). If you can tell me about a fool proof method how to find out (on our server's side) how to distinguish if behind two different accounts on one and the same IP/computer are two different persons : you're welcome to contact me via PM to discuss such an option.

      BTW: a question on help desk in case you got such a duplicate account warning (and you think it is not correct) has helped in (nearly) all cases with such "friends visit" - but please don't "just" report your account or contact an admin personally, admins have more things to do - if there is admin-work to do with such a request the staff members will forward this request to an admin automatically.

      another BTW: when we detect duplicate accounts you are not immediately banned (usually if a duplicate account occurs for the first time). You get a warning for arbitrary time and your upload/download rights are taken away. You can use other parts of our site (like this forum) despite the warning.
