RE: Russian LGBT+ activist murdered after being listed on ‘Saw’ website
Things are getting worse in Russia once again. For a couple of decades things hadn't been so bad.
While the Orthodox Church is pushing against LGBT rights some of the worst areas are non-Christian like Chechnia and Dagestan.

RE: Favorite Gay Themed Movie ?
I sometimes enjoy non-English movies, I can speak some German and Hebrew.
But I raise my eyebrow at the translation.
"Meine Schwiegertochter ist ein Mann" = "My Daughter-in-Law is a Man" not "All you need is love." -
RE: ANGER MANAGEMENT, when leaving comments in Torrent presentations:
I'll admit I sometimes get annoyed at "Can you help me find XYZ video?" requests when I can find it by typing XYZ into search. I also stay far away from the discussion of politics, which I'm really interested in, due to people who seem unable to refrain from ad hominem attacks (in the thread names!)
But as people say, this is a place where we are getting Queer content for free. I also download non-porn gay movies and tv shows. I enjoy giving movie or book recommendations and seeing whether other people think the latest Blockbusters are worth my time and money.
If someone sends the occassional Spam pm or says something I regard as offensive I can just hit the delete button.

RE: Favorite Gay Themed Movie ?
In no particular order.
1/ Hellbent. A slasher horror set in a gay community on Hallowe'en.
2/ My Beautiful Laundrette.
3/ Saved by the Belles.
4/ A Touch of Pink
5/ Zero Patience. -
RE: Whats your favorite sports event?
When I was able to do sports I liked Volleyball and Sprinting.
I don't go out of my way to watch sports much but I do enjoy curling, figure skating/ice dancing, and lacrosse.

RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it
I just saw MIB International.
I think it deserves a B. It's very well done and internally consistent. There are some interesting characters who are well-rounded. But the big twist was easy to figure out.
! They don't mention it directly in the movie but there's an organic reason why Chris' character changed so drastically. Even with his memory erased part of his subconscious was aware that the story didn't fit together and set up an internal conflict. There were plenty of references to him not being the person who had defeated the Hive - he honestly wasn't.

RE: Would You Watch A Soft Porn Gay Thriller
I would and I have.
The Don Strachey mysteries were OK.
Hate Crime, Mysterious Skin, and Hellbent (2014) were very good.
The DeCouteau movies are bad.
But the absolute worst had to be Dead Boys Don't Scream (AKA Male Models Can't Act.) It combines the poor acting/writing/production values of most independent gay movies with a virulent loathing for: Gay men, Lesbians, Transwomen. -
RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it
I finally saw Rocketman.
I rarely give movies ratings since they're so subjective - fuck that!
5 Stars.
They don't try to be realistic. It's not a documentary or an attempt to be a realistic telling of Elton John's life. It's a memoir about how he remembers the events and persons in his life. It's a musical where the songs depict character moments.
It compares very well to Bohemian Rhapsody. Elton is fabulous and messy; a person who put on a major concert two days after a suicide attempt. It doesn't sugar coat his addictions or sexuality - or make them points of loathing.
My one disappointment, with Taron and Jamie playing Elton and Bernie couldn't they at least have fantasized a gay sex scene even though that never happened in real life?
And the costuming is great - at the end they compare the original costumes with the movie's versions.

RE: Dupe Torrent Uploader Complainant
I think that's more a problem of poor description/photos.

RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it
I usually avoid trying to give something that looks objective over something that is so subjective.
I think Detective Pikachu was competently made, so objectively just on that basis 8/10.
I love classic mysteries. I figured out who did it, why they did it, and where the father was without much thought. 6/10
I can't judge who good they dealt with the original material since I don't know the original. But nothing struck me as particularly clever. (While Into the Spiderverse had character shifts that made my squeal. One of the villains is the best version I've ever seen of that character.)I'm planing on seeing Shazam! and Rocketman in the next couple of weeks.

RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it
Someone I (used to) trust recommended Detective Pikachu for non-fans.
OK, so not awful like Pixels or Sausage Party and not as aggressively mediocre as "Secret Life of Pets". The world is more fleshed out than any of the Pokemon cartoons. - which is a very low bar. The main character was a decent actor who rose above the rest of the movie. Bill Nighy phoned in his performance - I'm much more techy with good actors who aren't trying than with bad actors. Ryan Reynolds did good voice acting.
The biggest problem is that virtually anything in the plot played it too safe. The characters were too detached from one another. Big character reveals didn't land since the characters were too flat. Telling us that a character is lonely or that another is obsessed with work or that another is driven by a desire for self-improvement isn't sufficient.

RE: ANGER MANAGEMENT, when leaving comments in Torrent presentations:
Just to comment that it may not be as bad as you think.
Your sample is biased since you only look at the people rude enough/low impulse control to leave nasty and/or vulgar comments in the first place. There may be more than 10%-20% willing to apologize who avoid making problems to start off with.

Thanks for the source. I'll assume it's a scam.

RE: News Anchor Death TMI or OK?
The question of news vs gossip.
I have little interest in this type of story. It reduces a person's life to an embarrassing death. I'd support not running it.
But i can see the slippery slope if we censor things we find shameful. I remember how far we had gotten into the AIDS epidemic before we started talking truthfully about it.

RE: THIS or THAT: the game
V for Vendetta
Oscar movies. The Favourite or Bohemian Rhapsody
