I don't find that to be wholly true; it merely instigates curiosity and the want to try out what we find curious.  For example, I could be taking college classes on video design and get my major in it; it doesn't mean my ultimate job would be in the video industry.  I could easily take on an unrelated job such as manager of my own shop in antiques. Not that good of a comparison, but it should get my point across.  Sexuality isn't as black and white as some think it to be.  (I'm sure I'll get flack for saying that, but it's how I feel.)

To go back to the gay for pay actors, some probably think of it as just another job.  It doesn't matter if they are gay or aren't exactly thrilled with being in the industry; it's a living and requires less skill than other jobs.  Now that's not me saying being a porn actor is easy; I'm merely saying gay-for-pay can sometimes be exactly what the term implies.  Of course, it also helps that gay porn is probably more competitive than straight porn and thus may pay more money.
