      agree with the original post.
there are so many low resolution files like 640x320 and so bigger than 1, 2, 3 gbts…
That's absolutely nonsensical as people can manage to squeeze hd quality in 700mb files nowdays.
it's only making problems for the bandwidth and storage space and the quality of the video remains bad

      In addition:

Torrent's for private trackers, like GayTorrent.ru's, have the "private" flag set. Some call that a Digital Rights Restriction (DRM), because if a torrent client respects that flag, all good do, it allows only peers from the tracker. That means only peers which are members of GayTorrent.ru and have a valid passkey can get the IPs of other peers.

In opposite to that, public tracker torrents, like those indexed on The Pirate Bay or KickassTorrents, don't have that flag set and the client can get peers through other mechanism like DHT (Distributed Hash Table), PEX (Peer Exchange) and Local Peer Discovery.

So once the tracker isn't up and running, or the torrent removed ("unregistered torrent"), the clients will no longer get IPs of peers from the tracker. As long as the peers already known by the client continue to run the torrent, the exchange of the file can continue. Some clients like µTorrent don't save the peers information when shut down, others like qBittorrnt do, but as IPs are often given dynamically or peers seeing the torrent turning "red" stop it, exchange will stop sooner or later.

Once the client has sent out each piece once, it will start with seeding them again, that avoids disaster  🙂

Typically this is because they've either not forwarded their port correctly; their client has not been added as a firewall/router exception; or their client has reached the programmed limit of its upload authority. Many connection problems like these which originate from other clients cannot be solved from yours.

Alternatively the Request Re-Seed function may be selected from the torrent's page in an attempt to increase the number of connectable seeders.

I think it should be a common guideline to post something of the following along with .torrent:

      File size:
      Duration:
      Overall bit rate:
      Bit rate:
      Width:
      Height:
      Display aspect ratio:
      Frame rate:
      Bits/(Pixel*Frame):

This info is easy for everyone to get. I recommend MediaInfo tool - install it - right click a videofile and select MediaInfo from context menu 🙂

      MrMazda

This is largely due to a combination of two different factors:

Some of our uploaders (such as myself), do not have a very fast upload speed, while some of the leechers have an amazing upload speed. In the case of uploaders such as myself who don't have a decent upload speed, it is only possible for me to upload any of the parts of the file to any given user at a slow rate (usually about 45KB/s). When there are one (or more) leechers who can crank out speeds of say 1MB/s and there are several leechers, eventually those leechers with the quick upload speeds will help get other users caught up to where they are in the process as the torrent traffic tends to favour the fastest connection, generally preferring active and connectable nodes, often ignoring the passive ones that use follow-back packets.

In light of the last portion of #1, there are a large number of users who are running behind a NAT, which is most often found built right into their broadband modem to masquerade a /24 subnet (say 192.168.1.0/24) issued to each computer connected to the modem's built in router behind a single IP address visible from the internet. This is not necessarily a problem though, if the NAT is configured correctly. In my case, my torrent program listens for incoming connections on port 22791. When my computer announces to the internet through the NAT, it can get an outbound connection no problem to announce that it's listening on port 22791. If you do not program the NAT in the router to forward inbound connections from the WAN (Internet) on TCP & UDP 22791 through to my laptop in some way, the NAT will drop them by default because it does not know where to route them to, since it does not use these ports itself for anything. The result is that you end up becoming a passive node. More often than not, passive nodes are unable to upload if they have SPI/Firewall protection enabled on their router and have not properly confiugred the port forwarding in the NAT. Some connectivity will be lost to discovering the passive nodes and sniffing out active ones to take preference over.

First thing: What ever your Profile privacy setting on GayTorrent.ru is, including the lowest "normal" (lower than "low"), only you and torrent staff can see your torrent activity. As well registration e-mail and login or torrent client IPs are visible only to very few of the staff, most staff can't see them.

Regarding the display of the peer IPs in the torrent client:

"Normal" user can't do much with an IP, most likely they get only information who your ISP is when trying to search it. "Professional" spies will use special versions of torrent clients if normal version won't display IPs, if they don't do it already

The problem with torrents is that the client programme needs to know the other peers IPs to connect to them. Independently from if they display the IP or not. Not displaying the IP might only lead users to think it is invisible, but it isn't. Any client connected to a tracker or a swarm (via DHT for example) will know the IPs of the other peers.

If you are concerned about your privacy and don't want to stp using torrents, invest in a VPN service. Many members here say good about PrivateInternetAccess (40 USD / year). Note the VPN service can know all your traffic (but that doesn't mean it is logging it). So you have to trust that service provider …
