      @cteavin:

      There's much worse out there in Africa.

      Live Leaks had this video of a village in Africa taking all the old people in a village, putting them in a ditch filled with wood, putting grass on top and burning them alive. The people, mind you, they were old, who managed to crawl out got kicked back it. It was brutal and hard to watch.

      People in Africa are fucked up.

      That is brutal!  I took some anthropology courses in college.  There are tribes that still exist that do things like cast out old people, refuse to feed or take care of them, and they are expected to kill themselves.  And then.. instead of honoring their parents that have passed, they have a rule to never mourn them and never mention their names again.  They are outcast and forgotten.

      It had to be a trans person. Why couldn't it be a real woman?

      "Brain damage". Yeah, that sounds about right.

      There are "legitimate" trans people who are born anatomically ambiguous, or have dysfunctional testes, etc.  Those people were born that way and I have complete sympathy with their condition and wish them the best in dealing with it.
      HOWEVER.. there are also people such as Bruce Jenner and a LOT of other people are are 100% "male" and just decide they want to be a female.  More specifically.. there are many men who decide to become a woman so that they can make money in prostitution.  Again, I don't have anything against escorts.. but changing one's gender to become sexually marketable is a big problem.  In fact, those transgendered prostitutes almost never have their penises removed.  From my observations.. that type of transgendered person gives "real" transgendered people a bad name.  The "fake" trans are very often extremely malicious, violent, suicidal, homicidal, negative, monsters.

      A democratic house representative took a knee in support of the NFL players who refuse to stand for the flag and national anthem.   Even though this action was began by Colon Crookeddick under the reign of Obama,  she blames.. you guessed it.. TRUMP!    And she claims that Trump criticizing the NFL for allowing players to disrespect the flag and country to be … wait for it..   RACIST!

      http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/09/26/dem-rep-jackson-lee-takes-knee-on-house-floor.html

      I think she's wrong to do it but my best guess from her statement,

      "I kneel because I will stand with those young men, and I'll stand with our soldiers, and I'll stand with America, because I kneel,"

      She's addressing one of the criticisms people are making: It disrespects the military, the people who served, and the people who died. She's trying to make it seem patriotic.

      What's really shocked me about Texas, where she's a rep, is that the Cowboys, the f-ing Cowboys, took a knee.

      Exactly.. her logic is completely convoluted..  she claims her kneeling is in effect standing up.. uh huh.  That is like hitting someone in the face with a baseball bat because they were trying to kill a mosquito that landed on their nose.

      @cteavin:

      @Frederick:

      @cteavin:

      Problem with that is "why are those US troops there to begin with?"   It is because North Korea is still in a state of war with South Korea.  They are in an armistice.  North Korea has consistently threatened to take over South Korea, and would do so if they could get away with it.

      Also, that doesn't take into account that North Korea is doing illegal weapons sales, starving it's own people to death, selling it's own citizens into slavery, mass executing and torturing people for no good reason,  kidnapping and raping young girls, etc.

      If you take Trump's speech at the UN at it's word, then each nation must be sovereign. (He contradicts himself later by calling out the weakened Cuba, Venezuela, and NK.) But the UN and US leave plenty of countries alone to pursue hateful agendas. Think of the Rwanda; look at how we ignore all that's going on in Saudi Arabia.

      Arguably, NK is conducting illegal arms sales because they are barred from trading in the free market. RP's idea puts them back in, potentially.

      As for forcibly entering South Korea, there's no direct evidence that they want to forcibly reunite. The two Koreas still trade with each other and have made several attempts over the decades to unify economically, each time failing because NK takes a bellicose stand towards the US.

      I like Trump, but I wasn't impressed with that UN speech.  I could write a better speech than that.  Presidents never write their own speeches.  They contribute ideas to them, but they don't actually write them.  One of the most famous presidential speech writers was Ben Stein (Bueller.. Bueller?) who worked for Nixon.

      I think NK has done a horrible job in being a country.  Being bellicose to the US is probably not wise, other than being egged on by China.

      If a player does something like pretend to urinate in celebration of a touchdown..  they should cancel the touchdown.  That would end that kind of behavior instantly.

    • RE: What would acceptance of a nuclear North Korea look like?

      @cteavin:

      This is from Ron Paul today. What do you all think?

      "Here’s how to solve the seven-decade old crisis: pull all US troops out of South Korea; end all military exercises on the North Korean border; encourage direct talks between the North and South and offer to host or observe them with an international delegation including the Russians and Chinese, which are after all Korea’s neighbors."

      Problem with that is "why are those US troops there to begin with?"  It is because North Korea is still in a state of war with South Korea.  They are in an armistice.  North Korea has consistently threatened to take over South Korea, and would do so if they could get away with it.

    • Example of how women are let off lightly in justice system

      I have previously mentioned that a guy who I didn't like in elementary school grew up to be a teacher, and got in trouble for having sex with a girl who was 17 years and 9 months old.  Three months more and she would have been legal.   The girl didn't complain.  The guy admitted having sex with her immediately.. and yet he was sentenced to a mandatory 18 years in prison.

      An article from today has this 27 year old wife of a teacher repeatedly having sex with a 16 year old student with behavior problems.   Her sentence?   She is eligible for release after completing 30% of a 3 year sentence.. which is less than 11 months.   Why the huge difference in sentencing?
      Also.. if she did not plead guilty, she would have been subject to 38 years in prison.   That also doesn't make sense.
      Quite frequently, you have people pleading guilty to charges just to avoid a severe sentence.  That is not right.

      Let me offer a hypothetical example.   Imagine that you have been chargred with stealing a loaf of bread from the supermarket.   You did not do it, but if you plead guilty, you will be given 1 day in jail.. but if you plead not guilty and they decide you are guilty, you will be put in prison for 20 years.     Are you going to risk being found guility even though you are not guilty?  Or are you going to lie and plead guilty?
      There is another problem.   Some people take oaths seriously.   They are forced to take an oath saying "do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth - so help you god?"   And they say "I Do".    So, this person who didn't commit the crime in the first place risks going to prison for 20 years for telling the truth.. or gets off with just 1 day.. and eternal damnation in hell for breaking the oath they made to god.   Hmm.. eternity is a long time!

    • RE: The Marine Corps' nude-photo-sharing scandal is even worse than first realized

      @ravena1:

      The scandal that prompted an investigation into hundreds of Marines who are accused of sharing naked photographs of their colleagues in a private Facebook group is much larger than has been reported, Business Insider has learned.

      The practice of sharing such photos goes beyond the Marine Corps and one Facebook group. Hundreds of nude photos of female service members from every military branch have been posted to an image-sharing message board that dates back to at least May. A source informed Business Insider of the site's existence on Tuesday.

      The site, called AnonIB, has a dedicated board for military personnel that features dozens of threaded conversations among men, many of whom ask for "wins" — naked photographs — of specific female service members, often identifying the women by name or where they are stationed.

      The revelation comes on the heels of an explosive story published on Saturday by the journalist Thomas Brennan. He reported on a Facebook group called Marines United, which was home to approximately 30,000 members who were sharing nude photos of colleagues along with personal information and even encouragement of sexual assault.

      The report led the Marine Corps to open an investigation, spurred widespread outrage in the media and in Congress, and prompted sharp condemnation from the Corps' top leaders. According to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, investigators are considering felony charges that could carry a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

      An official familiar with the matter told Business Insider that the Marine commandant, Gen. Robert Neller, would brief members of the House Armed Services Committee next week on the scandal.

      "We're examining some of our policies to see if we can make them punitive in nature," the official said, adding that the Corps was taking the issue very seriously.

      A Facebook-group exodus leads to a message board's popularity

      Brennan's story also led to an apparent exodus of members from the private Facebook group, though some appeared to have found the publicly viewable message board soon after — with the express intent of finding the cache of nude images that Marines in the Facebook group were sharing.

      "Come on Marines share the wealth here before that site is nuked and all is lost," one anonymous user said in a post on Monday, two days after Brennan's story was published. Follow-up replies offered a link to a Dropbox folder named "Girls of MU" with thousands of photographs.

      Dropbox did not respond to a request for comment.

      Members on the board often posted photos — seemingly stolen from female service members' Instagram accounts — before asking others if they had nude pictures of a female service member.

      For example, after posting the first name and photograph of a female soldier in uniform on January 21, one board member asked for "Army chick went to [redacted], ig is [redacted]." Another user, apparently frustrated that no pictures had yet been found, posted a few days later: "BUMP. Let's see them t–----."

      On another thread, a member posted a photograph on May 30 of a female service member with her breasts exposed and said, "She is in the navy down in san diego, anyone have any more wins?"

      There is a LOT  of very kinky stuff going on in the military.  I used to know someone who was assigned to an army base in what was then West Germany.  He said that pretty much everybody on the base had sex with everyone else on the base at one time or another.

      @flozen:

      Debbie and Carrie did have their moment – placed together, of course -- during this week's Emmys roll-call of In Memoriam.   :blownose:

      Emmy Awards are about television shows.  To my recollection, Debbie Reynolds was a big star of movies and stage productions.  Carrie Fisher was a big star of movies.  But neither had anything to do with television.
      It has always bothered me that awards shows exploit the deaths of celebrities for ratings.  It's even more disgusting when some celebrities only get a tiny bit of applause while other's get roars of applause and cheers - as if they are being "graded".

      I can't think of any current TV shows worthy of any award.

      I'm surprised they could find time to do the memorial or give out the awards in between making attacks on President Trump.
      If I was receiving an award, I would be highly pissed off that time was spent on people's political rants.
      If I was the one producing the awards show, I would warn the presenters that if they abused the forum to present their own political views, they would be banned from all future award shows.

      Personally, I think 10 years is a bit excessive for growing marijuana/420, but I guess the States are a bit harsh on these matters. Do you think the penalty was fair?

      At first, this sounded strange to me, but then I read more about it…
      It seems this man was growing 1700 marijuana plants.  Each plant can produce thousands of $$ worth of marijuana.  That means that man had millions of $$ worth of marijuana.  I guarantee that he was not paying taxes on it.  Remember Al Capone?  They didn't put him in jail for murder, conspiracy, extortion, prostitution, guns, drugs, or bootlegging alcohol.  He was put away for TAX EVASION!  There is one thing that the government enforces rigidly.. and that is paying your taxes.  That is either directly or indirectly the reason that man got a 10 year sentence.

      @leeniedo:

      One of the players found the hidden camera which looked like a pen.

      http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/high-school-basketball-coach-filming-players-shower/#gs.Lu3npns

      I'm sure this happens quite often.  I remember in middle school (grades 6,7,8) that one of the coaches would circulate throughout the locker room and make sure every guy got naked.  He didn't bother to check to see that anybody actually took a shower.  Very few did take a shower because there was so little time between taking the shower and going to your next class that your clothes would be wet when going to your next class.  The guy was a mega pervert.  It was even more interesting that in high school (grades 9,10,11,12) almost nobody took a shower and the coached didn't give a damn.  Grades 6,7,8 would be ages  11,12,13,14 and grades 9,10,11,12 would be 14,15,16,17,18.  People getting sexually aroused by guys 14 and under have a problem - pedophiles.  I would say that most guys are not sexually attractive until about 19 years old.  I think the youngest guy I can think of that looked attractive was 16.. but even then, I didn't see him naked.  He probably looked a bit awkward naked.

      What is even more weird is that some people get turned on by looking at naked girls!  I have no idea why, but it DOES happen!

      @cteavin:

      I know the history but I don't understand why people are kneeling in the first place and I can't get a clear answer from the press, so I'm curious what your (all people in the forum) impressions are as to why people are kneeling.

      Responding to police violence? Trying to piss off Trump voters, aka a reaction to Trump becoming POTUS? It seems clear that what happened this past weekend is directly linked to what Trump said in his Alabama rally. Is the media, now firmly partisan, causing this? Something else?

      Moonbats don't need a reason to protest.  They just do it to be anti-establishment.  The ironic thing is, those football players are bringing home millions of $$ ever year from playing football and merchandise and endorsements.. cashing in on BEING the establishment - while at the same time protesting against the establishment.

      Many of the people in marches and protests don't actually give a damn about the subject they are protesting about.  They are paid, professional, "mercenary" protestors.  Many years ago I used to chat with a live webcam performer who made a lot of money doing protests and marches.  It's like the movie "Rebel Without A Cause"…  "whatcha protestin' Johnny?"..  "whaddya got?"

    • RE: What would acceptance of a nuclear North Korea look like?

      @cteavin:

      The verb bar, as in exclude.

      So I wanted to ask what the solution would be excluding war. At present, it seems that accepting a nuclear NK is the only option as everything else has failed up to this point. Further sanctions will not solve this, or will they? They haven't yet.

      I have been asking swampi the same question several times.
      Why would sanctions work now when they haven't for the past 50 years with NK?

      What options are there?

      Mad Maxine Waters solution is to just give NK everyhting they want.  She must have taken lessons from Obama.
      If it were up to Waters, every country in the world and Al Queda and ISIS would be permitted to have their own ICBMs with nosecones filled with multiple hydrogen bomb warheads.

      Meanwhile.. Trump has repeatedly said that he would like to see nuclear weapons abolished completely.
      It's very easy.  Even wars have rules.  Break them and one is designated a war criminal.
      Make nuclear weapons illegal including even threatening to use nuclear weapons.  If some county uses a nuke, the rest of the world should shun them - no trade - no travel - nothing.  I can't think of any country in the past 10 years that has threatened to use nukes other than North Korea and Iran.. and they technically don't even have them yet.
