      @raphjd:

      @flozen:

      This thread was wrong-headed from the get-go.

      If you have a beef with someone and you perceive it as a likely violation of the Forum's terms, then contact the Administrator directly.  Name-highlighting on thread titles is bush league.

      As far as your concern about thumbs down – truly bigger than the G20 for you -- it's one of a dozen emojis available to evaluate each post, and forum members appear to have the right to never use them, or to use them as often as they please.

      Meanwhile, you seem quite unconcerned by the green bar/red bar Reputation Power manipulation going on, as it's the conservatives playing with that statistic to their advantage.  The total posts from progressives on that topic?  Probably fewer than your own here, in this single-thread pity party.

      You obviously needed some attention, and now you've had it, congratulations, perhaps someone will bake you a cake.

      Liberals have used the downvote and liberals think there is nothing wrong with it.

      As soon as conservatives start using the reputation, liberals are butt hurt demanding something must be done about it.

      Since you're writing directly in response to my post, where did I demand that "something must be done" about Reputation Power?

      It's deceptive to insert that remark as you respond to my post, if your intent is to refer, instead, to some hazy group of others.

      Do you ever put your cop hat on and have a good, long chat with yourself?

    • RE: LEADER BOARDS: USER ANALYTICAL STATS on the POLITICS FORUM

      Why is there a disproportionately higher number of thumbs down from progressives?

      I'd say it has a lot to do with the disproportionately higher number of uncivil and off-topic posts, and other Forum rules violations, by conservatives.

      This is backed up by the Warnings – given out only after repeated, repeated infractions -- and which tips heavily in the conservatives' direction.

      What a shame you did all this pretty cut-and-pasting, and tabulating, when the conclusions were already as clear as your "Obama Is A Satanic Whore," or if you prefer, "The New World Order Can Suck My D-ck."

      Thanks, mhorndisk, for enriching our political discussions with these downward, thumb-bending contributions, and so many, many others by you and your peers.

    • RE: Trump to partner with Putin on cybersecurity

      Graham, Rubio and, you could argue, everyone on both sides of the aisle, appalled at Trump's continuing inability to see the real Vladimir Putin.

      From WaPo via MSN (and every media outlet of importance):

      http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-suggested-a-cybersecurity-pact-with-russia-lawmakers-say-they-were-%E2%80%98dumbfounded%E2%80%99/ar-BBE4pBM?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartanntp

      …Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) quipped on NBC's “Meet the Press” that Trump's plan was “not the dumbest idea I've ever heard, but it's pretty close.”

      Graham called Trump “literally the only person I know of who doesn't believe Russia attacked our election in 2016" and said he was “dumbfounded.” Graham said Trump is “hurting his presidency by not embracing the fact that Putin is the bad guy.”

      @raphjd:

      :police:  I already ruled on this.  :police:

      Can you close/lock this thread then? I see no reason why the discussion in here should continue.

      I second that notion, and I will transfer the discussion of Warning / Suspension / Banning guidelines to another thread in the near future.  It's a topic worth our attention.  :cool2:

    • RE: Intolerable violation by PPPUCCI

      @raphjd:

      Go back and look through the threads, they weren't that long ago.

      A couple talked about boycotting certain users and that kind of shit.

      Such demanding users on the left.

      raphjd,

      When you see a thread like this, where an individual engages in a falsely provoked escalation of name calling and flaming, with virtually no political content – and so much wasted time for all -- do you really find it so shocking that some of us would like to boycott, and if no change follows -- disengage with offending users?

      For those who are serially Warned, I again encourage the implementation of a suspension / time-out.  And after enough suspensions, show them the door.  This is a common practice, and a useful one, on other discussion boards I have encountered.

      What are your thoughts on the matter?

      @Frederick:

      @aadam101:

      I sometimes find it difficult to use the quote feature on here.  It's awkward at best.

      Frederick accused me of all sorts of nonsense that wasn't true.  I didn't cry about it.

      You are a liar.
      You've flooded this group with spam, lies, fake news..  and then went on to downvote comments without even reading them.. complain about everything.. disputed verifiable facts, and even been so bold as to report people INCLUDING the moderator and attempted to get the almighty one involved.
      I guess those were "mistakes" as well.  As per usual.. it's not your fault.. it's the fault of that "terrible" quoting feature.  Yeaaaaah.. that's the ticket!  It's the QUOTING features fault!   And I bet your wife is Morgan Fairchild!  Yeaahh!

      Youtube Video

      Youtube Video

      Frederick, this thread is yet another example of where you start off with a small rant, and when the administrator and other members point out that you are flaming – or in this case, "gaming" an editing mistake to stir the pot -- we get messages like your last one.  The poster(s) in your latest attacks are here for political debate, and don't deserve to be subjected to your Tourette's-worthy name calling and new, unproven personal attacks -- and you seem to be approaching a violation of the Forum rules for proper, on-topic posts -- yet again!

      raphjd, I have seen the green Warned header above Frederick's name several times now, in my very brief time here.  Could you explain, for my benefit and others, if, after a set number of Warnings, if there is a guideline toward a timed Suspension for such repeat, repeat, repeat offenders?  Would it not be a deterrent, and a further step toward meeting the board's civility rules, if we had such a guideline?

    • RE: Liberals really do hate free speech

      Thanks for the alternative link for your YouTube post, raphjd.  It's late here, so I only watched a bit, and will see what caused the kerfuffle with new eyes, tomorrow.

      I also want to say how much more enjoyable and USEFUL today was on the forum.

      Many of us would like to get back to the vibe of those earlier days on Politics & Debate, when thread titles didn't include screaming obscenities, and no one spam-posted (whether through a dozen flimsy new threads in a row, or six consecutive self-replies in an author's single thread).

      We hope today's approach gets more time to take root.

      It's a real step up, where debate can be pointed – even blunt -- and intellectually challenging, yet not off-color or deliberately nonsensical.  And sometimes, a bit of fun for fun's sake.  Still some work to be done keeping threads on topic, but overall, today was a hopeful reminder of the early forum's original strengths, and how it could/should be once more.   :cool2:

    • RE: Trump doesn't understand the cybers

      It's a limited victory, but at least about half the states prevented the release of their residents' most-criminally desired, hackable information.  And with more limited data, it's less likely this amateur-hour fraud commission will be able to further fabricate the Trump-pleasing fallacy that 3-4 million illegals threw the popular vote to Clinton.  Or will they just wing it, fudge the numbers, and get alternative facts media behind them?  That's the sickening core issue here.

      Trump's understanding of IT security, oh, I don't even want to think about it.  The man spends five hours a day watching cable news, when he could be sharpening his IT prowess, or meeting with advisors for tutorials on strategic foreign policy, etc.  Frivolous commissions and so much wasted time by this man, in what – so far and not surprisingly -- has been a remarkably low-achievement administration.

    • RE: NBC: Man attacked by six liberals during a political rally in Philadelphia

      @sutieday:

      I still have no idea why a topic about a man attacked by "liberals" turned into a discussion about Islam…

      Good call, sutieday.  There are a substantial number of threads on P&D that begin on a variety of nonreligious topics, but are steered toward Islamophobia by the same member, with the same roof analogy, and in retrospect, I regret furthering this hijacking of the thread.

      This thread is about the Philadelphia incident, and while I can see it being vibrantly discussed in relation to other political protests in the U.S., I've had enough of these 90-degree topic turns to specific faith-bashing here in the P&D forum.  There's a forum for Religion & Philosophy, if they will allow that poster to continually projectile vomit in that ugly direction.

      @raphjd:

      Free speech is not the same as terrorism, throwing gays from the roof tops and all the other things your beloved muslims love to do.

      And the lowest, most pitiable form of free speech is targeted ethnic or religious hate speech that is willfully blind to the fact that good and bad people exist in all faiths.  Regards from an out and proud secular humanist.

      I can find many videos of him criticizing Black Lives Matter on YouTube right now.  Was there anything exceptional about your video?

      Yes, raphjd, it would give us a better picture to know exactly which of his speeches was "downvoted" to such an extent on your channel.  Anywhere we can view the one in question?

      @sutieday:

      I haven't attacked mhorndisk in this thread. I've attacked his posts and his argument (Supporting veganism whilst also supporting #45). So, being critical of someones argument/position does not mean you are attacking them directly.

      Yes, agreed.  This mhorndisk thread began with the rather unusual fusing of being a vegan, and still supporting Trump, the meat eater.  And that doesn't make for viable political discourse.

      As an aside, I have begun reducing my intake of animal "meat" proteins, in equal parts for health and concern for animals.  If mhorndisk wants to write more on vegetarianism or veganism in the Health and Fitness or Chit Chat boards, I certainly would have no beef with that.

      @raphjd:

      All over social media, you will see liberals defending "punch a Nazi".   When you ask them to clarify, they tell you a Nazi is anyone you disagree with.

      And all over the Internet – from the Dark Web to carefully guarded email lists -- there are invites to gatherings where they discuss assaulting minorities, and in some corners, drive around in pick-up trucks with white robes.  Or sometimes, use torches to menace workers taking down shameful Confederate monuments:

      http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/may/14/torch-wielding-group-protests-confederate-statue-r/

      You think either side has a monopoly on this behavior?

      OH! I aww see two thumbs down already. You must have voted for him to get a second Nobel prize, you little whores. You know he doesn't deserve it. How can you bomb seven nations and expect a second Nobel peace prize? Wow you have to be NUTS.

      Who is even talking about a second peace prize for Obama.  I googled "Obama second peace prize nomination" and all I got was how some on the Nobel Prize committee had second thoughts about awarding him the first one.  Oh well…

      Yes, lol!  Even another reason it is pure Rant & Rave.

      raphjd, this follow-up gem of a post meets the no-spam, respectful, non-inflammatory and non-vulgar qualifications that are clearly stated in the Rules?

      if so, may we call anyone, whether politician or forum member, a satanic whore (still in first post), as well as garbage rats and human waste, going forward?

      That's a hoot.  The headline was changed to something softer while writing my last post.

      "OBAMA is a SATANIC WHORE" is still the lead-off comment, and the headline-dressing does nothing to change the fact that the thread is inflammatory, wildly inappropriate and firmly in Rant & Rave territory.  Nice try, but it still NEEDS TO GO.
