    • GOP Rep. Unaware O’Care Repeal Bill Nixes Health Care Program In His State

After admitting to CNN that he did not read the House bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) told the Buffalo News that he was unaware the bill would nix funding for a health care program in New York.

When a reporter for the Buffalo News told Collins that the American Health Care Act would eliminate funding for an optional program adopted only by New York and Minnesota called the Essential Plan, Collins replied, “Explain that to me.”

    • ACLU Mocks Trump’s Religious Order As Not Worth Suing Over

      Via ACLU

Today’s executive order signing was an elaborate photo-op with no discernible policy outcome. After careful review of the order’s text we have determined that the order does not meaningfully alter the ability of religious institutions or individuals to intervene in the political process. The order portends but does not yet do harm to the provision of reproductive health services.

President Trump’s prior assertion that he wished to ‘totally destroy’ the Johnson Amendment with this order has proven to be a textbook case of ‘fake news.’ The directive to federal agencies to explore religious-based exceptions to healthcare does cue up a potential future battle, but as of now, the status quo has not changed.

What President Trump did today was merely provide a faux sop to religious conservatives and kick the can down the road on religious exemptions on reproductive health care services. We will continue our steadfast charge to defend Americans’ right to exercise their religion and ensure their freedom from having others’ beliefs forced upon them. The ACLU stands ready to sue the Trump administration and in the event that this order triggers any official government action at all, we will see Trump in court, again.

    • Kushner Family Pitches Visas To The Wealthy In Return For $500K Investment

The Kushner family came to the United States as refugees, worked hard and made it big — and if you invest in Kushner properties, so can you. That was the message delivered Saturday by White House senior adviser Jared Kushner’s sister to a ballroom full of wealthy Chinese investors, renewing questions about the Kushner family’s business ties to China.

Over several hours of slide shows and presentations, representatives from the Kushner family business urged Chinese citizens gathered at the Ritz-Carlton hotel to consider investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a New Jersey real estate project to secure what’s known as an investor visa.

    • GOP Rep “Nobody Dies Because They Don’t Have Access To Health Care”

A statement made by U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador during a town hall meeting Friday morning has drawn criticism by those challenging his stance on health care. After a woman suggested that the lack of health care was essentially asking people to die, Labrador had a controversial answer at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston.

“That line is so indefensible,” Labrador said. “Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care.” A video of the statement, posted on YouTube by Tom Hansen, drew attention from national news outlets, including CNN. An email to Labrador’s press secretary late Friday for comment did not receive an immediate response. Labrador on Thursday voted in favor of the American Health Care Act, pushed by the GOP through the House.

    • St. Petersburg Police Arrest Activists At Protest Against LGBT Persecution

Russian police have detained LGBT activists attempting to raise awareness about the persecution of gay men in Chechnya. The demonstration was held during a May Day march in St Petersburg, with a group of around 10 protesters arrested near the Anichkov Palace in the centre of Russia’s second city.

Images shared on Twitter showed activists lying on the road pretending to be dead, with fake blood smeared across their faces and covered with rainbow and Chechen flags.

Officers in riot gear were shown arresting protesters and dragging them to a police van. A separate group of gay-rights protesters were detained with placards that called for the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, to be tried at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

    • Trump Angrily Ends Interview After Questions About Wiretapping Claim

President Trump cut short an interview with the host of “Face the Nation” on CBS after being asked about his unsubstantiated claim that President Barack Obama wiretapped his campaign, saying he was entitled to his own “opinions.”

Mr. Trump, speaking during a prerecorded interview in the Oval Office with John Dickerson that was broadcast on Monday on “CBS This Morning,” grew agitated as the host pressed him on a number of issues, and he reached his breaking point when Mr. Dickerson asked about his bombshell Twitter post from early March describing Mr. Obama as a “sick” man.

    • Priebus: White House Has ‘Looked At’ Changing Law To Let Trump Sue Press

White House chief of staff Reince Priebus on Sunday said that President Donald Trump’s administration has “looked at” changing the law so that Trump can sue the press, though Priebus offered few details.

ABC News’ Jon Karl questioned Priebus on “This Week” about Trump’s suggestion in March that he might “change libel laws” in order to go after the New York Times.

“That would require, as I understand it, a constitutional amendment,” Karl said. “Is he really going to pursue that?”

“I think it’s something that we’ve looked at, and how that gets executed or whether that goes anywhere is a different story,” Priebus said.

Painter mentions espionage in the White House. Says Donald Trump is violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution. He also calls what Michael Flynn did criminal and that Trump needs to disclose his tax returns, so we can all know who’s financing his businesses.

    • Reagan Adviser Slams Trump Rally Speech As ‘Most Divisive Ever’ From A President

A former adviser to three Republican presidents called the speech Donald Trump gave before a crowd of supporters Saturday in Pennsylvania the “most divisive” he has ever heard from a president.

David Gergen, a CNN political analyst who advised Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan — and President Bill Clinton — said he found the speech “deeply disturbing” with little change from Trump’s bombastic, divisive campaign messages.

Trump slammed the press — again — as “fake news,” vowed to topple Obamacare and promised to build the border wall between Mexico and the U.S. “Don’t worry, we’re going to have the wall,” Trump said at the rally marking his 100th day as president. “Rest assured. Go home, go to sleep.”

Gergen said on a CNN panel following Trump’s speech that bringing “your campaign speech into the presidency is something presidents rarely do.” He added: “I think this is the most divisive speech I’ve ever heard from a sitting American president.”

He “played to his base,” Gergen added. “He treated his other listeners — the rest of the people who have been disturbed about him or oppose him — he treated them basically as, ‘I don’t care, I don’t give a damn what you think because you’re, frankly, the enemy.”

Gergen added: “I thought it was a deeply disturbing speech.”

U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) delivered something of a sermon Wednesday night during the annual far right wing event, “Washington – A Man of Prayer,” which is held each year in Statuary Hall, just under the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Weber, a three-term congressman who won Ron Paul's seat when the Texas congressman retired, preached at the microphone before about 20 other lawmakers and invited guests.

A Kentucky family court judge has announced he will not hear adoption cases involving any "practicing homosexual" or "homosexual parties" because it would not be in the "best interests of the child" to allow same-sex couples or LGBT people to be parents.

Judge W. Judge Mitchell Nance, who was re-elected to an 8-year term when he ran unopposed in 2014, on Thursday issued an order saying he has the right and the obligation to recuse himself from any case in which he might have a personal bias.

    • Watch Republican run away from questions concerning his healthcare amendment

New Jersey Republican Representative Tom MacArthur is hearing all kinds of questions today after it came to light that the “amendment” he authored to do away with the Affordable Care Act would exempt him and his staff—who would still be guaranteed their Obamacare regulations. How does a Republican official act when faced with a serious question that he wasn’t pre-fed by a think tank? The Huffington Post’s Matt Fuller recorded Rep. MacArthur’s answer.

Tom MacArthur literally runs away from questions about his amendment.

    • Schumer: Flynn May Be The Tip Of The Iceberg

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday said that the House Oversight Committee’s latest findings that former national security adviser Michael Flynn might have broken the law “may be just the tip of the iceberg.”

“The disturbing news that General Flynn may have violated the law in connection with his security clearance may be just the tip of the iceberg,” the lawmaker said in a statement.

“These revelations highlight the importance of the intelligence committee working in a bipartisan way to request and receive documents with respect to any financial arrangements Flynn and others in similar positions may have had with foreign governments,” he added.

    • Pastor Who Said Pulse Victims Got What They Deserved Gets Sentenced To 35 Years

A judge has sentenced Brunswick Pastor Kenneth Adkins to life for aggravated child molestation Tuesday morning. Adkins’ sentencing states he must serve a minimum of 35 years in prison, with the rest served on probation. He also faces up to 20 years for every additional charge, all to run concurrently.

Adkins turned himself in on one count of aggravated child molestation and one count of child molestation back in August of 2016. Authorities said that their investigation into the pastor focuses on suspected molestation in multiple locations.

Adkins is known for his controversial remarks and actions in the political sphere, beyond his work with the church. After the Orlando massacre at the Pulse gay club, he tweeted that gay people deserved what they got.
