Favorite Final Fantasy game?
-
Curious to see how people feel about the Final Fantasy series and which game is the overall favorite
-
Only ever played a handful (I [NES + the [i]Origins version for PS], VII, VIII, IX, Anthology) and none after IX, because I've never owned a console/device newer than the PlayStation.
Of the few I have played, I probably like IX the best. It's certainly the one that I am most emotionally attached to. I liked all of them, really, though the original game is pretty grueling, even as far as old school NES-era JRPG's go. A lot of those older ones seem really hard to beat the closer you get to the final boss. At least the few I played were, which isn't that many, come to think of it. I was too poor growing up to own every new system/game. Most of the ones I played were rented or purchased used, so I never was much of a "gamer".

I played Final Fantasy VI (III U.S.) all day everyday when I was a kid. I had to max out every character and get Ultima on all of them. Great memories.
Also had a huge crush on Cyan and Sabin.

IX, hands down, although VII comes veeery close.
-
IX has and always will be my fav it's sad to see back in the day people didn't really care about it but these days people on the internet seem to appreciate it more just like with the Zelda series and Majora's Mask another black sheep that was my personal fav. My top 5 FFs tho
1. IX
2. VII
3. VI
4. X-2
5. IV -
I've also noticed that IX seems to have developed a strong cult following, despite not receiving much enthusiasm early on. I suppose the lukewarm reception of IX back then was probably from people expecting another VII/VIII.
-
Obviously FFX, that game was so intense. I cried, i laugh i yelled… but it was worth it every single second.
-
None. The final fantasy series is way too damn boring and not urban enough.
Well. I kinda slightly like X2 because of the Jazz/R&B girl group story centered around it. It was still a boring ass game. Which is funny because everyone says that's the worst final fantasy game. Maybe I'm an alien? lol.
They need to make a Final Fantasy Compton or Final Fantasy Chicago or Final Fantasy Detroit and I might play that shit. lol

I voted for VIII because I thought no one will vote for that VIII and X are my favourites. And despite all my love for X I just think that VIII is a lot more underrated and has a lot more complicated and mysterious, darker story. I love all the nostalgia and weird shit in that game. ATB system is great and there are lots, lots of summons and different limit breaks + I just loved the idea of for example GF making you lose memories, magic being junctioned to certain attributes and also the flexibility like having the weakest character use ultima just by drawing it. Music totally rocks and all the epic fight with Edea or Weapons. Oh I liked the last boss the most too. FF X ruined that a little cause it was just jecht and yu yevon and it was really boring. In VIII there was a great appearance of Ultimecia who was almost as good as Yunalesca at being bad bitch witch and all the transformations with Griever. And ehhh Rinoa. Limit Breaks with Angelo like Invincible Moon or Wishing Star with Strength on max + all best white magic junctioned with only Meteor from black magic + Angel Wings. Nothing to add.
None. The final fantasy series is way too damn boring and not urban enough.

Well I can understand you. If someone doesn't go deep enough to feel the story and doesn't like this sort of maybe boring battle system it really is boring. It was sometimes boring even to me, while I love the series!
Oh that would be super cool!
I actually thought about it. I mean, in the meantime I was falling asleep every night at some point. I thought it would be cool to do a game like that but not like you know a thousand year ago or thousand years ahead. Cause FF is always about a village-ish type of landscape or too futuristic. I would like to see a game like that in our times but also with travelling to different lands. In my vision there would be also some gameplay in some arctic areas and glacier caves or nice mountain and greenish areas of Dublin. Story could be based more on a current world political situation. And battles hmm I thought of a possibility to combine attacks and have some nice easter eggs techniques like some moves would work only on some enemies and there would be sitations when you could use a basic move and make it really effective. + creating summons based on magic and mixing it a little like in Kingdom Hearts, and using "small summons" at the same time as party. There would be also bigger summons which could really stand a chance against some bigger opponents, like a big dragon-like Tiamat or Bahamut, or fully playable Alexander which is a total powerhouse with all his lasers and machine guns and unbreakable armor only thunder would work. Not like a FFX Valefor/Ifrit/Ixion/Shiva who were totally lame and died with one shot sometimes… Oh and I though it would be also nice doing some variation on magic. Maybe using engineering in place of that. Haha maybe I'm just thinking that because it's what I'm studying but it would be cool to do it a little Harry Potter-like style. Maybe go to classes from biology and learn poison then poisonstrike, bio, sleep, geology would give maybe petrification/soft, earthquake, bind, quicksand. Thermodynamics would let you access all of the heating department, like fire/conduction/flare and stuff, and instead of mana you would operate on energy and temperature. Well yeah or maybe I went too far. But I think customizing weapons like that would be fun too. Maybe not only weapons but the whole gear. There could be also some classes. I would like to see more with gunners. But not like Yuna with only two handguns. Like a better version of Irvine maybe. He had that cool limit break with choosing the ammo. Gunner could use a real deal of gear: handguns, shotguns, machine guns, laser guns, rocket launchers, grenades. And depend only on ammo. -
Go on take a while guess as to which one I voted for…
-
I was too late for this poll. But I want to give my vote for Final Fantasy X.
-
I missed the poll, but I have to say XV is one of my favorites now that I have finished it!
-
My favorites are X, VI, VIII, XII and Crisis Core.
I haven't played III or XV, i hope to do it this year -
I missed the poll, but my favorite FFs are IV, VII and XIII.
-
VII for nostalgic reasons, X was great as well but I absolutely HATED X-2. Just what were they thinking?
-
IV,VI and X. The only other FF games I've played are III, VII and XII.
-
;D Definitely FFIX, it was such a sweet sweet game for me. Everyone also talked about VI but nver managed to finish, I always stop after playing it for the first 1 or 2 hours.
2nd would be FFXV, i know i know its new and all that, but i actually quite enjoy the overall vibe of the game.
-
I actually quite liked IX… I think it's a bit underrated and undermentioned...
but yeah, does bring me back to a simpler time
-
I love Final Fantasy XIII Triology, I'm kinda upset it gets so much hate from the fan base though.
-
I have the FFXV and the FFX / FFX-2 HD Remaster to PS4, these are my favorites.
