Most of the other torrent sites are more reliable 'cause they rely over a distributed network of trackers,

An average of 420 req/s is not that much for nginx, so I bet you're I/O bound by the tracker.
I suggest you to just use your web server as a load balancer for the tracker requests (offloaded to an additional number of machines),

On the most part, I'll take a PC over a Mac any day of the week. That being said however, when it comes to editing films for the film industry, it's Mac all the way.
