    • RE: New Words for the Dictionary

      @Kinsey6:

      Can you share the dictionary definitions (or your own) about:

      felching
      shrimping
      yiffy

      from hXXp://www.definition-of.com/

      anal felching / foofer felching , chiefly gay usage, to lick or suck semen ejaculated into the anus of a sex partner;
      afterwards, it may be exchanged by the lovers during kissing. CAUTION: Felching is not considered safe sex.

      Synonyms: fletching, coprafelchia, and truffle hunting are synonymous, but rarer;
      shrimping is felching with the aid of a straw.

      I'm wondering if anyone could recommend better and still 'free' alternatives?

    • RE: How to convert FLV files to quality WMV or AVI, is it even possible ?

      @martini20:

      Thanks for the info twinkletoes. I have tried countless conversion software packages over the the years, but I've not found one that effectively does FLV to other formats. Btw 'ZC Video Convertor' (I assume their website still does a free version … videoxdvd.com) is a great convertor for various formats, although it also struggles with FLVs.

      You're welcome, martini20!
      Another great general tool is "Total Video Converter", but it's not freeware

      SUPER (freeware) usually does an excellent job at conversion.

      Keep the final frame size the same as the original.
      As always, the higher the bitrate, the better the quality.
      (of course, you can't improve on the original.)

    • RE: Dvd drive problem or it could be the PC itself… computer gods help!

      There are several crucial bits of information you haven't provided:

      1. Is your computer a desktop or laptop?
      2. What is your operating system (e.g. Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OSX, Linux)
      3. What type of drive is it: IDE or SATA (or even an external USB)?
      4. When you replaced the drive, did you also try replacing the cable (IDE, SATA, USB)?

      In any case, you can find a lot of useful tips here:

    • RE: Seed Bonus Whores!

      @raphjd:

      • unless the ratio is already above Power User limit and going skywards > 10 or so

      A ratio that high is a bit abusive, unless they are a "power uploader".

      Are you saying that my ratio "is a bit abusive"?
      I don't know if I qualify as a "power uploader", but I have uploaded quite a few torrents here.
      I have made a point of NOT abandoning my torrents as soon as they have been fully seeded.
      Is this behavior now regarded as "abusive"?

    • RE: Bewildering torrent statistics

      Thanks for responding, Uwe,
      but I still do not understand how torrent clients can be so "bad"
      as to produce such a bizarre discrepancy between
      the number of "Hits" and times "Snatched" for any torrent.

      Also: why is that "dht_backup_enable" flag allowed?

    • Bewildering torrent statistics

      Would an Administrator or Moderator please explain the confusing statistics for a torrent:

      Shortbus (2006)    http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=14429

      Although "Added" today (2009-09-10 18:31:57) and receiving 1389 "Hits",
      It has been "Snatched 707426 time(s)"
      with "Totaltraffic 469.79 TB"

      Huh?

      Could this be related to the fact that, although the torrent's "private" flag is set,
      the "dht_backup_enable" flag is also true (under "azureus_properties") ?

    • RE: Pirate Bay Stopped - How Safe GayTorrent?

      @trentreviso:

      You should be using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), hudson.

      …

      Even this is not foolproof. The VPN service itself can be ordered by a court to hand over information regarding your Internet surfing (including torrent) activity. However, if you utilize a VPN provider in a country other than your own, the legal barriers presented to organizations like the RIAA for obtaining your private information become substantial.

      Look into hxxps://www.relakks.com. Relakks is an inexpensive VPN service based in Sweden.

      Please remember that The Pirate Bay is a SWEDISH website.
      SWEDISH police raided and prosecuted The Pirate Bay.
      A SWEDISH court ordered the upstream provider Black Internet to block traffic to the site

    • RE: Encoding advice

      @nomadix:

      anyone have any suggestions ?

      1. always do 2 pass encoding

      2. the higher the bitrate, the better the quality

      3. for the best quality at a given bitrate, you cannot beat H264

      4. there is no officially stable version of x264, it is a work-in-progress and new bugs occasionally creep in
            while not as up-to-date as x264, mencoder's x264 engine is nice and stable

      cheers mate, right back at you

      @trentreviso:

      I left the other place at the request of a moderator, who felt I was too opinionated.

      That's appalling!
      (and terribly hypocritical, considering just how opinionated most of the moderators are over there)

      It's good to see you continue your informative posts over here.

      I was worried by your sudden departure from the other place.
