    • RE: Monitoring BAD Uploaders

      @Spintendo:

      At the bottom of every torrent page is a button marked SEND A MESSAGE. When clicked, you find that your problem with user anonymity is irrelevant.

      Another user security breach which is in dire need of a fix

    • RE: Ideas for a compromise

      @geographer:

      the site has a 5 star torrent rating system.
      Though we have to face facts - it is dead, no-one, or very few and very seldom, rates torrents

      Complete agreement here
      But I'd say the same thing about the torrent "Comments" section too

      @geographer:

      no-one takes into account that rating when choosing a torrent to download.

      How do you know?

      @geographer:

      Since I'm taking away the privilege to rate torrents from users

      Hooray!
      (but you're still a douchebag)  >:D

    • RE: UPLOADERS should be given more bonus or ratio points. Otherwise why upload

      @raphjd:

      I'm wondering why someone with a ratio of 5.802 and a seed bonus nearly 2,800 (at the time of this post)
      is demanding more ratio/seed bonus be added to his already high amounts.

      I don't get the point of this thread.

      But what was his ratio/SB when he started this thread (over 2 years ago)?

    • RE: Batesville Daily Guard, Arkansas Paper, Omits Gay Man's Partner From Obituary

      This is Arkansas, guys

      There are more uneducated lawmakers here than any other state in country.

      Of the 135 lawmakers, the study says 25% have no college experience at all, 6% have some college,
      35% have a bachelor's degree and 25% of them have a degree beyond that …

      While 25 % of lawmakers have no college experience, 53% of the general population of Arkansans never went to college.

      And while 25% of lawmakers have a degree beyond a bachelor's, only 6% of all Arkansans can say the same.

      @geographer:

      If the general masses weren't so naive to belive all the crap posted on the Internet, this wouldn't happen.
      Now we get more users wishing to cancel their accounts… sigh

      That is, of course, your often repeated attitude.
      But many of your loyal members regarded the original site design as replete with needless user security breaches.
      I am delighted by these new changes.

      @leatherbear:

      Overall, 72 percent of Americans say it's permissible to disagree with church teaching on abortion, and 63 percent say the same for homosexuality.
      …
      Two-thirds of evangelicals (67 percent) said they could differ with church teaching on abortion, and slightly less than a majority (47 percent) said the same about homosexuality.

      Just goes to show how much Americans really hate us

    • RE: Slow internet download and system restore issue (Windows XP)

      Yes, it sounds like your computer is seriously infected.
      It's probably best to reformat your drive(s) and re-install your OS

      But why can't you do this yourself (and save $75) ?
      First get an external (USB) hard drive and copy the files you want to save from your desktop/laptop to the external HD.
      It is safe to keep videos, pictures, text files, torrent files - they can't get infected
      (BUT don't save any program files, system files or script files)

      In the interim, why don't you try booting from a Linux LiveCD to check that the problem really is your Windows installation
      I'd suggest that you try the Puppy Linux CD

    • RE: Tracy Morgan's Homophobic Remarks In Anti-Gay Stand Up Set

      I really appreciated Tina Fey's response to this outrage
      (she is the Executive Producer on his show "30 Rock"):

      I'm glad to hear that Tracy apologized for his comments.
      Stand-up comics may have the right to "work out" their material in its ugliest and rawest form in front of an audience,
      but the violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue
      to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community.

      It also doesn't line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and
      is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person.

      I hope for his sake that Tracy's apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian coworkers at "30 Rock",
      without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with,
      or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket.

      Note particularly her characterization of Morgan as "sleepy and self-centered"

    • RE: Incentive for uploaders?

      @underlvr:

      But banning a peer from your client doesn't ban them from the swarm, unfortunately.
      He would still be able to download pieces from other users and then redistribute them.

      Yes, but he must download those pieces from peers with a slow connection.
      I am not suggesting that this will have an enormous effect, just that it would help ballard1's problem.

    • RE: Incentive for uploaders?

      @Uwe:

      The before mentioned "Uploader" user class is an attempt to at least give a moral recognition to the new torrent contributors,
      but it is unfortunately not advancing 😞

      FWIW, ballard1, I agree with everything you have said, but it has been my experience that proposed changes to this site,
      if not rejected completely, proceed at a leaden pace
      (and Uwe has just confirmed this)

      Several other commentators have asked you if you are using the special "initial seeding" protocol, but I believe that you haven't answered this question.
      It is crucial for you to avoid the "initial seeding" protocol since that ensures that you minimize your upload volume

      Actually, there IS something you can do when you observe someone in the swarm behaving like "Mike2009"
      Many (most?) bittorrent clients will allow you (without any GTRU Administrator's intervention) to "ban" a peer.
      This would force your upload to pass through only the peers with a slow connection.

    • RE: My upload wasn't gay enough

      @xxzxxz:

      what is so Homossexually Special about Ru Paul's Drag Race? Really. Because to me, it is extremely insulting that gays, or even a part of the gay community is portrayed that way in National Television. Now, I bet you guys didn't even think twice about approving that upload, just because it has Drag in the name. Whereas a show like The Voice, showing people from the community, with REAL talent, bringing their family and life partners to cheer them on is not special enough? Why must we think that we're only represented when waving a fucking rainbow flag, dressed in rubbish clothing, and acting like fools?!

      You'll never get any support from me with your blatant bigotry
      Drag to you means no "REAL talent" and "dressed in rubbish clothing, and acting like fools"?
      You recoil because "even a part of the gay community is portrayed that way in National Television"?
      And you have contempt for people "waving a fucking rainbow flag"?
      To me, it is your attitude that is "extremely insulting"
      "the gay community" would have no rights at all were it not for the drag queens
      Who do you think led the Stonewall Uprising?

      @geographer:

      the technical details that we are talking about can be provided by the video-player itself.
      At Least KMPlayer does that.

      VLC Player as well!
      And, unlike KMPlayer (and GSpot), it is NOT just for Windows
      Linux and Mac is supported too

      @martini20:

      hardly anyone bothers to rate torrents here anyway.
      I also look at any comments that are left to see if its worth downloading

      Since so few people bother to rate torrents, I have found  that subjective comments are very unreliable.

      The review site you mention (bestvpnreviews) seems excellent.
      Since you referred to "Lucas Ent on gay torrents net", I assume you are a GT member.
      There is a long (5 pages) forum thread there on this topic
          hXXp://en.gay-lounge.net/showthread.php?28335-List-of-SItes-Offering-VPN-services-or-Proxy-Servers

      Don't expect good tech support anywhere unless you are willing to pay premium prices
      Since you want eMule protection, you need a true VPN service, rather than a proxy server

      I've had good-satisfactory experiences with YourFreedom, Ivacy, BlackVPN, DarkNetVPN and others
      YMMV

      Never make a long-term commitment to any privacy provider
