I have a straight drinking buddy who admitted he went to a gay club a few times to "support a friend" whatever that means. I wish I found that endearing…honestly I felt creeped out a little for some reason I couldn't quite articulate.

I didn't find it supportive...more like that feeling a black person probably gets when a white friend feels they've the right to use the N word.  Not the same thing at all but I don't want straight friends in the gay part of my world and I don't want to be the token gay friend that gets them off the hook every time they do something douchey. With strangers I don't care where they go. But I don't want straight friends trying to bond with me about how supportive they are. I can stomach a somewhat homophobic friend who's at least honest about their feelings and boundaries...I don't want a fake supposedly supportive friend...those are the worst.

I think people who are homophobic usually are straight (unless they're republican politicians or something). I'm transphobic but I hate anything girly. Guys who have been homophobic to me I've never gotten the vibe that they wanted to have sex with guys. But honestly I see more homphobia from women anyways. They're always fake or catty or think they can say offensive things and no one will call them out on their bullshit. Most men live with the idea that they could be punched for something mean they say but women never have that so they just act terrible.

Honestly I wonder sometimes if it's the straight guys who claim to be gay friendly that are really closet cases or bi curious. I went out drinking with a male co-worker who was needling me trying to get me to admit I'm gay and for some reason he brought up that he'd been to a gay bar before with gay friends…it made me think he was closeted or bi more than a potential straight confidant honestly.

I don't believe it's true. I've meet plenty of straight men who are nice about it as long as you don't hit on them (which I don't).

But women are vile about it because they're vile and self centered in general. I've never seen it where it is on television where women love the gays. Most hate I get is from women. If I'm friends with one of their husbands, boyfriends or even their brothers I get a lot of hate. The woman I work with…I hate 90% of them. The women in my family are hateful. Both my parents are homophobic but particularly my mother...my dad is less hateful about it. My mother thinks if a guy wears a purple shirt he's a faggot and will tell him so. When I was in high school my parents used to rag a straight friend of mine because he wore purple pants.

I've had straight male friends who are supportive. But I've never met a kind woman where I live. I had a black female friend who more or less implied she knew I was gay but couldn't be friends with me if I was open about it. Kinda hurt.

My dad wasn't raised by his biological father. I was a little shocked to meet his dad's bio family and learn that his biological father had a brother who was gay that died. My dad already had a lesbian sister on his mom's side (well she used to be a lesbian).

My dad's sister was a lesbian for 10 years.

First she was married to a man for 11 years and had 3 kids with him (1 died a few days after he was born…messed her up). Then she became a total whore and started banging men at the hospital she worked at behind his back...she even fucked her boss's husband and another married guy she banged killed himself. When the marriage was over she moved in with a lesbian friend of hers from high school. But she didn't sleep with her...she stole this friend's girlfriend. This lover was 3 years younger than me so it was creepy my aunt dating a woman younger than me. That relationship breaks up and my aunt gets this new girlfriend who is totally butch at which time my aunt becomes really butch.

I'm gay but not out to my family. I thought about telling her one day because she used to be my favorite aunt but I confided in her a secret about finding out my grandfather wasn't my dad's biological father (big family secret...oh the drama) and she told the rest of the family. After that came out my grandmother blamed the secret coming out for something my drug addict uncle (dad and aunt's brother) did while drunk (beat up his step-daughter)...so finally I washed my hands of that side of the family. Most of them are dying of medical issues but I refuse to associate with any of them.

My aunt is now back to dating men...part of the reason I never confided in her was that I thought her lesbianism was a fad or a way to piss off my grandparents. And I was right.
