RE: Would you date a smoker?posted in Chit Chat
Washington, D.C. – The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index is helping to crystallize the relationship between income and smoking in the United States.

While researchers for Gallup and the Centers for Disease Control have previously documented higher smoking rates among lower-income Americans, the current results based on interviews with more than 75,000 individuals across the United States allow for a closer examination of the relationship between household income and smoking behavior.
Nationwide, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index reveals that 21% of Americans say they smoke. As the accompanying graph illustrates, the likelihood of smoking generally increases as annual incomes decrease. One exception to this pattern occurs among those making less than $6,000 per year, an income bracket often skewed because many in that bracket are students. Among those making $6,000 to $11,999 per year, 34% say they smoke, while only 13% in the top two income brackets (those with incomes of at least $90,000 per year) say the same – a 21 percentage-point gap.
The Well-Being Index also confirms distinctions in U.S. smoking rates relating to gender and race. Among respondents, 23% of men and 19% of women say they smoke. Blacks are the most likely to smoke (23%) and Asians are least likely to smoke (12%). Hispanics and whites fall in between, at 17% and 20%, respectively.
Interestingly, smoking rates in the United States are similar to those around the world. Across 118 different countries Gallup surveyed in 2006 and 2007, a median percentage of 22% said they smoked the day before the survey. At the high end, 50% of people in Turkey said they smoked. At the low end, 6% in Nigeria said the same.

RE: Sex with married menposted in Sex & Relationships
I still say that pointing to the fact the definition is mutable, doesn't change the action. If one kills someone by negligence and they are acquitted and someone else kills someone in a crime of passion and they are convicted. They have both committed the act of murder, even if the courts and people say you were not to blame. Fuzzy definition or not, I do not believe in getting married and then having flings, consensual or not. Also, no one is being argumentative, the purpose of the forums is to debate things. At least that is how I feel.

If you believe there are differing views about what constitutes cheating, make sure you and the person with which you enter into a relationship share the same defintion.
This is why a lot of relationships fail. The definition of cheating is not a literal term. Where one person may see kissing someone (even just a quick peck) as a form of cheating, someone else may not. That's the down side to opinions. That should be the case with any relationship as part of the discovery stage of the relationship.
Enough of that though…. What about sex with me? I'm still technically legally married, but haven't actually been with my still legal husband since September 11, 2007. Would that make sex with me constitute sex with a married man?
It seems to me that you are just looking for exceptions almost as if that justifies the act, no matter what you wish to call it. A rose by any other name is still a rose.

I will slowly draw the picture for you. Vegans taste good so when we have the worldwide collapse of civilization the wise prepper will have at least 1 friend who is vegan on his must save list. It's much easier when you have livestock that is also able to take complex directions. All the more so if the choices they make that should be of no concern to you upset or irritate you.
You might find your existence a little happier & certainly less irritating if you stopped worrying what everybody else is doing without you.
I think maybe we are talking about two separate things. You are talking about the end of the world and I'm talking about annoyances.

So you want to have your cake and eat it. Why marry "one" person, if you want to have sex with more than "one". It is not an antiquated ideal, it has to do with self respect for you and everyone else.

Not vegan food silly, vegans.
Vegans are on my list of irritations, along with computer nerds, ubuntu and linux.
…people on welfare should do drug tests...
That is a good suggestion.

Having extramarrital sex is still cheating, with or without permission. If you want to have sex with multiple people, then why get married.

RE: Would you date a smoker?posted in Chit Chat
Someone who smokes obviously doesn't care about their health. Why would I date someone doesn't care if they are going have to use an oxygen tank and die from emphysema. They are all making health care too expensive.
