We found out, there is a Client Xunlei (aka Thunder) which can cause: a) ratio cheating on our tracker b) report wrong upload/download values to our tracker (in several cases also negative values for upload traffic which can ruin the user's ratio) and in some special cases also loss for the uploader's upload traffic because of reports which are not protocol conform.

We decided to ban that client from our tracker like some others which are currrently banned too (see our FAQ for those clients). There is only another problem: This clients "hides" itself and reports faked client names to our tracker. But it can still identified by special anomalies in the reorted values. We are currently in contact with several client manufacturers to find out if we can find more about those faked client names.

If we know more about those faked names we can ban that client from our tracker finally.

Alas the effect of damage to a user's (or uploader's) ratio still remains so we also decided as a first measure to ban accounts which use this clients, detected by the anomalies in the reported values to protect our members to ruin their ratio by those wrong values.

What can you do: if your account is banned for that reason (to find out use our mailbox [email protected]) : contact an admin ([email protected]) and ask for help.

All other users using this client: we urgently recommend: Stop using this client!

(You probably know which client software we recommend - if not: ask a moderator or on our help desk).

Use a decent BitTorrent Client.

This is not aimed against our users but against companies which offer cheating and/or ratio dangerous clients!

BTW: I renamed this topic and moved it to this board

additionally you have to take into account: the BitTorrent protocoll itself prefers (or is designed to prefer) seeders with high upload speeds. There is nothing we can do against protocol conforming clients.

Of course we (staff members) all are glad hearing such praise about a member of our team. I hope you will not be angry with me that I had to overwrite that moderator's name - we don't want to single out a moderator not positive nor negativ, I hope you can understand our reasons. Uwe already answered that question correctly with yes.

But there is another new feature with saying "Thank you" for an upload: Up to now you could only say "Thank you" once, a second thank you was ignored. Now you can say thank you more than once (But the 2nd, 3rd, … time only with seed bonus points (inteded to give more than the max 50 points). This way it is also possible to give a number of points which is not noted in the dropdown box like 100  (2 times 50) or 73 (50, 20, 3 or ...) or give additional bonus points after you watched the video. You will not occur in the thank you list several times but only your given bonus points willI be added to your earlier given "Thank you". This way you can also add additional bonus points to older uploads where you already said Thank you before. I don't know if it is really necessary - but the feature is implemented as well - so you can also use it

another thing to mention: you can now say thank you several times to give more than 50 points if you wish. The 2nd and all following "thank you" must be given with bonus points.

Just noticed the new feature you put on the site. Its quite an original idea I must say. I like the ability of swapping seed bonus between members. This enables us to give and receive tokens of appreciation and can encourage uploading

1. Is this feature a trial or permanent?
2. Is is available to all classes/types of members?

To increase our uploads is the basic idea - together with the often told wish to award uploaders for their uploads - this is one way

To your questions:

1. we intend this to be a permanent feature. But there may be (like in all programming) some flaws - so please tell us about any problems.

sorry it took so long for an official statement about Rationater 2.2 - here it is:

The earlier versions preferred users with lower upload by sending them a ratio warning much earlier than users with greater download traffic and they also had greater minimum ratio steps - so reaching the next step craved a much larger upload amount all of a sudden, additionally the steps in that region differed in 0.100 steps

keep in mind up to < 250 GB there were 6 ratio step, for the same amount ( < 250 GB up to < 500 GB) there was only one step and a ratio progression of 0.1 So all users who kept their ratio near their minimum ratio got a big suprise when they reached the next ratio step. So our first reason is: make the steps for greater download amounts a bit smaller (thus the new 375 GB step between 250 and 500 GB) and 2nd reason: make the border linear with 0.05 step width so there is not such a huge amount from step to step.

We all know: if you (with a real life stair) lower the step height a bit, you need more steps to reach a defined height. But it is a bit easier to climb a stair with some more and lower steps than to climb a stair with few but higher steps.

To keep our linearization of the lower ratio steps continous we had to implement some new steps (above 500 GB). If you compare the Values for Rationator 2.1 and 2.2 are nearly the same steps but the old minimum ratio of 0.7 (2.1 > 500 GB) is now only reached when you cross the 600 GB step- again an advantage for those users.

For the new steps up to 0.8 in Version 2.2 - they are intended to reach Power User status a bit easier. (Power Users must have a ratio above 1.05). When we implemented Rationator 2.0 the traffic distribution was: only few users had an upload > 1 TB, most users with such an download traffic had Power User status - a situation which has changed drastically, more and more users have such huge download traffic figures over 1 TB. And more and more users seem interested in just reaching their minimum ratio and forget about PowerUser status albeit this status will protect you completely from our rationator because a Power User must have a ratio > 1.05 - keeping such a ratio will never let Rationator near your account.

All in all: Rationator 2.2 doesn't change ratio requirements for users with lower download traffic, but will make ratio keeping for user with high traffic a bit more easy.

We do know, there are some cases (keeping the ratio near the minimum ratio) where especially for Users with more than 500 GB download will now get a ratio warning - there is always the possibility to ask a moderator (or on our help desk) for a longer time - a request which was in the past usually granted (and will so in the future) when we see that a user at least tries to increase his ratio.
