The Bar Association(s) is extremely political.
As are all professional bodies.
In the UK, for example, a nurse tried for 15 years to internally report the problems at the Royal Sussex in Brighton, but the professional body for nurses didn't care.
She went to the media and exposed everything, including the proof that the professional body knew and refused to act.
She lost her nursing license for bringing the profession into disrepute, simple for whistleblowing.
I don't remember the year, but Tony Blair was PM when this happened to her.
It's a common practice in the UK. The professional bodies don't give a fuck, telling the person reporting the problems to shut their mouths. If the person whistleblows, they get banned from their profession.
