yes we are fighting and banning that kinda of crap known as uber in my country (I think they have a 1 million euro fine to pay because of their illegal activities ( for unfair competition to real registered cabs) because it's a liberal view of economy that destroys social securities. liberal in my country means anything that is not regulated, that creates unemployment , in a word capitalistic jungle with no other rule than money. I know in the US "liberalism" means more something like " progressivism". this is not the meaning here.
Well, for a lot of people in the USA, there's no public transportation (walking also might not be feasible since distances are long and/or there are no sidewalks) and Uber/Lyft is either the only cab service or a fraction of the competitor's price.
