uTorrent and likely these other apps too are all 32bit applications, for which macOS Catalina removed support.

To put in simply, Mac apps (but really, virtually all modern computer applications) usually come in 2 "flavours": 32bit or the more modern 64bit. The difference is pretty technical, but in practice this means the at the OS level, 32bit Mac apps are not at all compatible with Catalina - they simply will not run.

Seeing how macOS is closed course, the problem will likely not be solvable by users anytime soon…

Bet advice I can give: for torrents, switch to Transmission, and for Zip/Rar extraction use The Unarchiver 😕

Here's the solution I found in case anyone else needs it in their BitComet.
Disable the setting seen highlighted in this screenshot. It stops .padding files from being created. Just described this to someone for their torrent which had a crapload of padding files, and this solution stopped them when he reposted his torrent.

I understand what you are saying but 500 posts in a week? And responding to people in the introductions forum where they introduced themselves 2 years ago?

I had to turn off new posts as it has been page after page of his. There has to be a happy medium somewhere in between something where you have a set number of posts you can do in a 24 hour period or something.

To explain my recommendation, it's likely that there may be some information, in the back-and-forth PM communications that follow the initial helpdesk query, that you'd wish to keep confidential… thus... the MAIN reason I'm recommending we move this to the private helpdesk, and away from the public forum.

Oh yes… And in addition to the routing issues that the internet seems to be having as of late, which sometimes affects some of our users, there also seems to be a widespread DNS issue, usually just with the tracker. This can generally be bypassed either by using Google DNS, or by modifying your system's hosts file to include the reference to the tracker. When you combine these two issues, they can become quite problematic for a lot of people.

I personally do not seem to be affected by the DNS issues, as I run my own DNS systems, so I can keep everything running properly. I do however experience routing issues from some countries which result in the exact symptoms that you describe where it either gets stuck in "Establishing Secure Connection" or "Waiting for..."

Generally, when I run into routing issues, changing the country that I'm using for the VPN, or turning the VPN off completely seems to solve the problem every time.
