    • RE: Anti-ICE leftists wreck ICE vehicles, loot rifles, dox federal agents on livestream in Minneapolis

@blablarg18 said in Anti-ICE leftists wreck ICE vehicles, loot rifles, dox federal agents on livestream in Minneapolis:

@justatest90-0 did we already get 2 this 1?

"As Tim Walz Encourages Resistance, Minnesota ‘ICE Watch’ Declares ‘Time Is Ripe To Embrace Militancy’"
      https://freebeacon.com/crime/as-tim-walz-encourages-resistance-minnesota-ice-watch-declares-time-is-ripe-to-embrace-militancy/

"We within the belly of this imperial beast face a turning point," [MN ICE Watch said]. "After seven full months during which our protests have utterly failed to slow the gears of the war machine, there is nothing left to do but escalate" (emphasis theirs). "The time is ripe to embrace militancy on the ground, both to keep ourselves safer, and as a demonstration of our commitment to the words ‘by any means necessary.'"

"Miltancy" can only mean pseudo-military violence.

On Wednesday evening [in wake of calls for "miltancy"], Walz told residents [not to calm down, but] to continue resisting ICE...[he said it's] "a campaign of organized brutality against the people of Minnesota by our own federal government."

I don't think you're reading at 100% here. That article pretty clearly says "Minnesota ‘ICE Watch’ Declares ‘Time Is Ripe To Embrace Militancy’" That is: "ICE Watch" said "embrace militancy" not Walz. I also don't see that article quoting Walz saying "resist ICE", the author of that article claims Walz is calling to resist ICE. This is the only quote in that article from Walz:

Let’s be very, very clear: This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it is a campaign of organized brutality against the people of Minnesota by our own federal government

Nothing in that is a threat of rebellion or a call for escalation. So: so far, the only ACTUAL quote from Walz is a quote we agree is a call for deescalation. You keep throwing random, unrelated quotes from other people, as though that indicts Walz.

AND...... What u worry about [...] little ol' me when I notice it

No, I was worried he threatened rebellion, as I said above. That's why I looked through his tweets and statements, like I said in my initial reply. When I couldn't find it (again, because I was concerned about a governor doing such a horrible thing), I asked you. At the time, I fully expected you to be like, "Oh, here's where he threatened rebellion, <insert quote here>". That has not happened, and in fact the opposite has been established (namely: Walz calling for deescalation).

Now it's more an issue of honor (in this case: your honor) of being willing to retract the claim or substantiate it with an actual Walz quote threatening rebellion. I value, and assume you would value, making statements rooted in truth, with clear evidence to support them. When I err (as we all inevitably do), I try to be forthright in correcting the error. It always stings a bit to say, "oops, I was wrong." But it's not hard, it's part of learning. I remember once hearing "changing your mind is the best way to show you still have one." I view it as part of that process for myself, as well as my honor and duty to my fellow humans, when I err.

All that matters at this point in the conversation (absent a clear, direct quote from Walz threatening rebellion), is this: Do you still have a mind, and the honor to admit Walz had certainly not threatened rebellion when you wrote that?

    • How do you get your news? A potentially useful resource

There's no such thing as a perfect news source, nor a perfect news ecosystem, "the algorithm" isolates us from events and opinions that challenge our beliefs. It's also debatable how important it is to be "in the know" about everything in the world.

That said, it is important, in democratic society, to participate in an informed and reasonable manner. Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1816, "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

In that vein, I'm curious how folks get their news and information about what's happening in the world of politics (and art, science, and other fields - which is all part of politics)?

I've personally relied on https://www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news for a long time to both alert me to news I might not have otherwise noticed, but also to stop me from getting trapped in my own filter bubble. I'll often check 'rage bait' stores there and it regularly brings me back to sanity with more details that one side or the other might gloss.

Surely someone this gorgeous with a photo this beautiful hasnt been completely forgotten or lost through the sands of time...

It does happen all the time, sadly. No thoughts on where else to look. Tumblr was awash in cute guys posting selfies (or amateur modeling) photos with no real links beyond their tumblr. And given the degradation of most reverse image search, it's harder than ever to track even to that point. It's also a 50% profile with bad shadows, which makes matching even harder, it could be someone we've all thought it might be, but just not enough info to be 100% sure. But hope springs eternal!

Yeah. Looks like Carlo Festa. I don't know how many times I've watched Carlo and Friends. Such a good classic. He and Pavel Novotny together...yum! William Higgins really knew how to make good looking porn. The newer stuff under his name just don't hold up, IMO.

I'm sure it's a lot harder to recruit when models can go direct-to-consumer and get USD instead of whatever the local wage is. Though I guess I also disagree a tiny bit: some of the effect is that we remember the 1 of 10 that were, well, 10/10, and forget all the rest. Whereas today, we're seeing everything. Like, just looking at their "latest models" page, Peter Penn is as hot to me as the old models, the other 5 are fine but forgettable. And look at the image I linked above: Carlo stands out, but most of the other are also forgettable (though I think I remember the guy in the back above Santa was also a hottie - this would be about the same ratio).

IDK, I overthink things, thanks for coming to my TED talk lol, and happy hunting for the classic studs!

Thanks for sharing those archive.org links. I subscribed to the site back in the very early 2000's, and opening the 2001 link was an instant flashback to 25 years ago. I loved, and still do love, that original content. I'll have fun going through those pages.

I don't suppose you know who the model on the far left in this newsletter photo is, do you? https://web.archive.org/web/20200101160103/http://www.wh.cz/88190sc/xmas_big.jpg I used to see him everywhere. (Sorry if it's bad to ask here, just saw it because of the context of this thread, so figured I'd keep it in the thread)

Edit: nevermind, I think I knew him as Radek, but also went by Carlo Festa if https://gayeroticvideoindex.com/performer/3650 is right

I feel like WH could make a lot of people happy going through its archives, if it has them.

I wouldn't try to argue with him

Oh interesting. I mean I wasn't really trying to argue, just understand where Walz "threatened rebellion" because such a bare call to rebellion would be dangerous. But per my previous post, if we can't agree "don't give him violence" means deescalation, I was already moving on.

You want to see how am I right? Dare him to critisize Trump, he will bring Biden, Obama, Clinton, you mother, his neighbor, another incident, another country, anything and anyone except doing this. I've already tried this.

Oh interesting. That's a good barometer for whether someone's "drunk the cool-aid" as they say. Few issues, and no leaders, have spotless records. I'm sure we can all find something disturbing about our preferred party's leaders violating core principles. (Biden: Dramatically undermining transparency w/ the Office of Legal Counsel & weaponizing the Espionage Act; Obama protected the financial elite during the 2008 financial crisis.) That's too bad if true.

I was taught a long time that patriotism isn't, "My country, right or wrong," but rather, "My country, its wrongs to right." If one can't see what's wrong with what its leaders are doing, that's scary.

"we both agree he hasn't threatened rebellion" - That is pathetic, gets my upvote becuz it made me laugh at u.

Weird. You seemed to agree with this point:

The only examples I could find called for deescalation, as per my quoted tweet ("Trump/Biden wants violence, don't give them violence").

You think "don't give them violence" is escalation and threatening rebellion? If we can't agree on the plain meaning of words, maybe there's no point.

"Do you think it was fun for me?" wasn't a response, but trying to deflect. And nobody forced you to go on the Bachelor, mate. but Rappaport is right: it's the sort of thing that makes you good at holding a secret.

AFTER Walz threatened rebellion in prior messages.......

I like to do my own research, so tried to find these threats of rebellion, and couldn't. The only examples I could find called for deescalation, as per my quoted tweet ("Trump/Biden wants violence, don't give them violence"). So I went back to you the source, asking for an example of where he threatened rebellion.

You then try to claim that call for deescalation is trying to get violence. I don't see the logic there. But even if it was, it's certainly not a case where he "threatened rebellion."

So do you retract your prior claim?

Trump sent thousands of armed federal officers into our state, and it took just one day for them to kill someone.
Now he wants nothing more than to see chaos distract from that horrific action.
Don’t give him what he wants.

    • RE: "Climate Change" vanishes

@blablarg18 Your headline is confusing to me after having read the article. The article is about how the climate change as a policy topic (mainly in the US) has greatly diminished, not that climate change has vanished. It's the first sentence: "The climate agenda's fall from grace over the past year has been stunning — in speed, scale and scope." The rest of the listicle highlights ways in which the topic as a policy topic has lost attention or been sidelined (mainly in the US and Canada, "Trump has aggressively and comprehensively dismissed climate change as a problem."), but also shows it's not a global reversal ("China is filling much of the U.S. industrial policy vacuum — plowing ahead on cleantech funding from batteries to fusion.")

I'm sure the confusion wasn't intentional, but it seems best to aim for clarity.
