@blablarg18 It doesn't matter if people were offended. Isn't that the whole point of the Right's "Cancel Culture" crusade (First Amendment and all that?). The Right is only concerned about "cancelling" conservative voices. They don't give a rat's ass about anyone else's. Ask librarians in Florida and Texas, asswipe (alleged).

@blablarg18 You chose the most appropriate moniker.

The march toward fascism continues.
Certain conservatives fully abandon libertarian ideals and decide they have the right to control what others do, read and, apparently now, purchase. So much for their opposition to "cancel culture."

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@raphjd How you decide to see the world is your business. I just find it interesting as I've been working and living internationally most of my life, and in my experience the more educated and well-travelled a person is, the more progressive, tolerant and open-minded they are. You seem to be an anomaly. You are so certain that you can pigeon-hole people (erroneously by the way in my case), that I can't see how you can think that will lead you to factual judgement calls. But like I said, whatever gets you through the night. It doesn't matter anyway. These conversations we are having in this wee corner of cyberspace are not solving anything. They are a complete waste of time.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@blablarg18 I apologize if you felt I was personally attacking you. I wasn't. That said, I do believe that you show no critical thinking skills whatsoever when you "support" your agenda with cherry-picked anecdotes, many of which are fatuous and most of which are hyperbolic, and emotionally-charged approaching the ludicrous. You seem also to be unable to understand that time is linear. You definitely would not me to be on your thesis committee.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@raphjd Ok. It's too bad you see the world and other people in that way. I can't imagine what it's like being so negative and hateful. But if it works for you.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@blablarg18 Your grasp of history is indicative of why many Americans are considered ignoramuses. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing; especially in the hands of someone with zero critical thinking skills.

@raphjd You really need to travel and meet new people.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@raphjd You are right. Thirty years ago the Democrats were getting in wrong. The Republicans were worse. The difference is the Democrats have progressed while the Republicans have regressed. You can't ignore the reality....just look what's going on, mate.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@raphjd These are all anecdotal anomalies. All you have to do is to look at what these parties were then and what they are now. I don't believe every Republican is a racist homophobe, but if you are a racist homophobe, you are probably a Republican.

RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall
@blablarg18 Yeah. Keep telling yourself that.

RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall
@blablarg18 So the Mexicans are sneaking fentanyl into your Taco Bell? Nope. Fentanyl is a cheap substitute for heroin, but much harder to regulate dosage. People don't die from "bad" fentanyl, they die from "too much" fentanyl.
When did conservatives start caring so much about drug addicts? Over the years their compassionate solution has been to cut funding for rehabilitation and just throw them into prison. They only care now because they think they can blame this on "the border." Well, newsflash: If Americans didn't buy drugs, people wouldn't risk smuggling them here.
And admirable attempt at stereotyping me. Fail.

@raphjd True. Facts. Kryptonite to the Right.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@raphjd During the 80s many of them called themselves "Reagan Democrats," remaining Democrat in name at the local level, but voting for Republicans in national elections. Over time, Republicans have completely taken over the south, except for the educated urban centers and are not as strong in Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia where many northerners moved.
This is not my opinion. It is well-documented.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@blablarg18 said in "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican":
@raphjd I never thought about MLK party. Wow was he GOP? For 100 years after USA Civil War, most blacks were. Thus plausible.
While Dems were KKK party just as you say.
WERE being the operative word. Neither of current parties are anything like they were except that Democrats support social justice and social welfare and the Republicans are essentially the party of rich industrialists who con the working class into voting against their best interests with bogus culture war issues.

RE: "Why Martin Luther King Was Republican"
@raphjd Wow. Your (willful?) ignorance of history is only second to your inability to have a conversation without talking like a 13-year-old who just discovered dirty words.
It's well-established and documented that the historically Democratic south (because of Lincoln) started flocking to the GOP after Kennedy/Johnson and the Democrats started passing Civil Rights legislation. Remember the Dixiecrats? Strom Thurmond? Look at the electoral maps after 1964. All the racists flocked to the Republican party, took over, and have been happily living there ever since.

RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall
@blablarg18 The people responsible for fentanyl deaths are the people who take fentanyl. What happened to personal responsibility?
-
RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall
@blablarg18 So let's see what happens. My money is on Biden will not be impeached, Trump will go to jail, and DeSantis will take over the party of deplorables. But he won't win. The current face of the GOP is a pack of imbeciles who think they are the smartest people in the room and don't realize that all the intelligent people are rolling their eyes. Boebert, MTG, Jordan and Comer: The Three Stooges plus one.

RE: Impeach Biden: support keeps growing, now at 53% overall
@blablarg18 And yet probably not one of those could name an actual impeachable offense that Biden has actually committed. But who needs facts when you've got that genius Taylor-Greene in charge.
The Durham report wasn't exactly conclusive, but it doesn't matter. There is a LOT more in store for the Orange Fuhrer. And you know DeSantis can't wait for it to happen! lol
