Armed man in wig and yellow vest seizes a Dairy Queen with his handguns in his campaign to restore Donald Trump as the President King of the United States, promising to kill all Democrats. This is the stage that we're at now, apparently, in America.

RE: Trump search warrant: FBI took top secret files from Mar-a-Lago
@raphjd To each of your points:
(1) The warrant was only necessary because Trump ignored and/or failed to comply with the subpoena.
(2) Whether all of the documents were declassified while Trump was still President is yet to be determined. Trump doesn't retain the power to classify or declassify documents after he's left office, and it isn't something he can just say, "If I brought it home, then ipso facto I declassified it." He will have to have done the official act.
(3) As far as I am aware, the only "documents" being returned are the three passports that were seized amongst the other documents.
And the thing which must be stated is that the potential crimes which may or may not be brought against Trump don't require the documents to have been classified. The fact that he has documents in his possession that belong to the People (i.e., the National Archives), then he's still committed a felony. A felony, by the way, that he strengthen while in office during his "Lock Her Up" frenzy.

RE: Trump Wins Ruling in Rape Accuser Carroll’s Defamation Lawsuit
@raphjd Trump hasn't won the lawsuit yet. Two questions were presented to the appeals court: (1) Was Trump a federal employee at the time he made the alleged defamatory statements; and (2) Did he make the alleged defamatory statements within the scope of his employment (i.e., was he speaking as the President or as Donald Trump).
The 2d Circuit Court of Appeals only answered the first question, finding that the president is a federal employee (this was no surprise as it had already been established). But it didn't render a decision on the second question. It certified that question to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals for determination if Trump was speaking as President or as Donald Trump.
If he was speaking as President, then it's likely that the court will grant the DOJ's request to substitute the Federal Government as party instead of Trump. The defamation will likely then be dismissed pursuant to a Rule 12(b)(6) motion for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.
However, it's my understanding that E Jean Carroll is still going to bring her civil rape case against Trump. This was just a defamation case alleging that him calling her a liar defamed her. No court yet has tried the issue of whether he did or did not rape her in the mid-90's.

RE: DOJ Sued for Refusing to Explain Why It Won’t Protect Conservative Supreme Court Justices’ Homes From Protests
@raphjd No, there's just no point is arguing with you specifically. I mean, I could waste my time writing out a whole explanation of how Trump's DOJ (especially AG Barr) contorted itself into pretzels in a partisan attempt to protect Trump. But you would never acknowledge the point, and if forced to, would just shift the goalposts and start ranting about something else.
So, no, we liberals do not "have nothing." You, specifically, are just not worth the effort to refute. You're only good for mocking, since you're a hysterical partisan hack, blind to all your own hypocrisy.

RE: California makes it illegal for doctors to disagree with politicians
@raphjd Is the Right seriously crying crocodile tears over the government meddling in what a trained, licensed professional can and cannot say on the job? This from the people responsible for "Don't Say Gay" gagging teachers' speech. laws gagging doctors from discussing or recommending abortion services, defunding libraries because librarians won't remove books that the Right disagrees with, etc.
Cry, cry those crocodile tears, snowflakes!

RE: Will James Comey and Robert Mueller Be Prosecuted for Lies John Durham Uncovered?
@raphjd You can keep dreaming. The fact that Durham has stated that he's waiting until after the mid-term elections to give his report signals clearly that he doesn't have anything to announce that will damage the Democrats. If he did, then they'd be using it during these close-call mid-terms. Instead, he'll quietly submit his report having found nothing but his unproven accusations and having suffered two defeats in court.

@raphjd You have so many liberal strawmen living rent free in your head that I'm surprised you don't have hay coming out of your ears.

RE: But conservatives are the fascists
How did you know that all of us Liberals had gotten together and voted Lars McMurtry as our singular voice? I thought we had locked the door!
A nobody said something that nobody cares about or agrees with. Keep trying though.

RE: Liberals selectively outraged by crimes
@raphjd Conservatives only care about fraud and tax evasion investigations when it's against Donald Trump. Thousands of people are investigated for fraud and tax evasion every year. That just shows the kind of people they are. Conservatives care more about this human circus peanut than they do about fraud and tax evasion investigations, but liberals are the evil ones.

RE: Cops: Ohio Man Killed Neighbor For Being Democrat
@Drwas Clearly this is a lie because, as we know from the blowhard of this Forum, it is only crazy liberals who attack people because of partisan politics.

RE: Liberals silent on "popular vote" - I wonder why
@raphjd said in Liberals silent on "popular vote" - I wonder why:
Your fellow liberals say we need to go by the popular vote for who runs the country. One would assume that would include Congress.
I'm confused why you think the nationwide count matters in a mid-term election with no nationwide elections. The demographic of people going out to vote in the mid-terms is related to local circumstances.
For example, there were 20 states with Republican incumbent senators running for re-election against Democratic challengers. There were only 14 Democrat states. There were also 5 states with Republican incumbents who had retired, meaning a stronger push to get Republicans in those areas to come out and hold that seat.
Also, there's no guarantee that the election jurisdictions were spread evenly into districts with equal party affiliation. In other words, if just a few of the jurisdictions were heavy Republican districts, then the massive number of Republicans coming out for that district skews the numbers. Yes, there are more registered Democrats in America than registered Republicans, but that doesn't mean that average in applicable evenly across the election jurisdictions.
All of the above was a long-winded way of saying that your argument was based on fallacious reasoning and you're an idiot.

Well he got banned fast at 39 posts!
Yeah, @raphjd tends to ban people when he can't defend himself against them in arguments. But such is the world when you give the wrong sorts even the littlest bit of power.
raphjd, why don't you go back to posting photoshopped pictures and then refusing to admit they're fake even when presented with the original, unedited photo.

RE: Gay Huffington Post contributor arrested for making threats against Atlanta LGBTQ nightclub
@raphjd I don't know anything about the threats part of the story, but calling him a "Huffpost Contributor" in an attempt to malign The Huffington Post is a stretch.
HuffPost used to have a "Contributor Platform" where anyone and everyone could post unpaid articles to their system. They weren't moderated or vetted by HuffPost beyond taking down posts after reader complaints. All of his articles are from that platform. He is not, nor was ever, an employee of HuffPost.
You might as well say "Frequent Reddit Poster..."

RE: Rightwing radicals coup in Germany
@serenity I don't know a lot about what's going on in Germany, but from what I've read about these people, they sound a lot like the Sovereign Citizen nuts we have here in America.

NY's George Santos: Did Russia just buy a House of Representative seat?
NYT: Who Is Rep.-Elect George Santos? His Résumé May Be Largely Fiction.
Long Island, NY's Rep-Elect George Santos (who used to go by George Devolder until he wanted to play up his Latino-ness) is purportedly a gay, Latino, Jewish Catholic MAGA Republican son of Brazilian immigrants.
However, his biography seems to be collapsing like a house of cards. He claims to be a rags to riches story, while simultaneously claiming that his family's fortune comes from real estate. No real estate owned by the family has been located.
During the time he claims to have been attending Baruch College, we only have legal records of him having been accused of stealing his mother's patient's checkbooks and written fake checks in Brazil. He moved their to live with his nurse mother after getting his GED. Baruch College has no record of him having attended or receiving the Bachelors in Economics and Finance that he claims to have received.
He also claimed to have attended New York University after having the above fake Bachelor's degree. NYU also has no record of him having attended.
After college he claims to have worked as an asset manager for Citigroup, despite the fact that Citigroup had sold off and disbanned its asset management business before he claims to have worked there. Citigroup has no record of his employment in any capacity.
He also claimed to have worked for Goldman Sachs. If you're catching on to the pattern, then you've likely guessed that GS likewise has no records whatsoever of him having worked for them.
Between then and now, he's been evicted from at least 2 apartments in New York for not being able to pay his rent, including a rent-controlled apartment that he fell behind by more than $10,000.
His purported current employer, Devolder Organization, is a boutique client consulting firm....except that has no, and never has had, any clients. From all appearances, Devolder Org has never done any kind of business that would generate any revenue at all. The only "business" that the DO seems to have done is pay Santos a ~$750,000 salary, which he then loaned $700,000 of to his own election campaign.
It has been reported that his campaign received substantial donations from individuals associated with Russian oligarchs. For example, the Daily Beast has reported on donations received from those associated with Russian Viktor Vekselberg, who snatched much of Russia's aluminum and fuel industries during the post-Soviet period.
Other than a social media presence trolling the Left and being a proud online contradiction (e.g., a gay Republican), this man seems to be an empty shell. Did he just receive a lump sum payment from someone wealthy to run in Long Island's election? Did a Russian oligarch just buy a seat in our government?

RE: ‘Get Rid of This Loser’: Trump Adviser Jason Miller Calls on Republicans to Ditch George Santos Over Fake Life Story
@raphjd said in ‘Get Rid of This Loser’: Trump Adviser Jason Miller Calls on Republicans to Ditch George Santos Over Fake Life Story:Ga
Repubs call for their liar to be disowned, while Dems worship their liars.
No one in power within the Republican Party has called out or criticized George Santos. Neither McCarthy nor McConnell have said anything. All you've got is an ex-Trump advisor and a Tucker Carlson fill-in Gabbard.

@raphjd said in ‘Get Rid of This Loser’: Trump Adviser Jason Miller Calls on Republicans to Ditch George Santos Over Fake Life Story:
At least some Repubs are calling out Santos.
Well, now we have to retract any glory your side would have been given for Gabbard attacking Santos on FOX, since now Gabbard is being attacked for not being soft on him during the interview. For evidence, just check Marjorie Taylor Greene's Twitter feed.
@MrMazda said in ‘Get Rid of This Loser’: Trump Adviser Jason Miller Calls on Republicans to Ditch George Santos Over Fake Life Story:
What exactly did he lie about?
He lied about his schooling, claiming to have gone to prestigious Horace Mann prep school, but they have no record of him. He claimed to have gotten a bachelor's degree from Baruch College, but they have no record of him. He claimed to have gone for at least some time to NYU, but they have no record of him. He finally admitted that he has no college education on Monday.
He claimed to be Jewish, stating that his maternal grandparents were Ukrainian Jewish that escaped WWII Nazism by coming to America, changing their last name from Zabrovsky to Devolder. Genealogical records do not show any Jewish or Ukrainian heritage for his family, and he has been castigated by several Jewish organizations. On Monday, he tried to claim he didn't mean he was "Jewish," but that he was "Jew...ish."
Strangely, while also trying to maintain that his family immigrated here to the US to escape Nazism, he also claimed that his mother was a white immigrant from Belgium. His mother is Brazilian, well-documented as a Brazilian and having worked as a nurse in Brazil for some time.
During the period within which his mother was working as a nurse in Brazil, Santos was living with her. He stole some checkbooks from some of his mother's patients and went on a spending spree. Despite his denial, the criminal records exist.
He has tweeted in the past that his mother died in the 9/11 attacks. But then also claims that she survived 9/11 for a few years and then died of cancer. He mother didn't die until 2016, unrelated to 9/11.
He claimed that 4 of the victims killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting were his friends and employees. No record of that has been found. He has since changed his story and said that he was only thinking about hiring some of the victims of the shooting, but couldn't name specific victims.
Basically, the man is a pathological liar who takes any opportunity to embellish his story. He seems to have a habit of trying to link himself to important events to make himself more interesting.
