    • RE: How many TeraBytes perverted you are?

@stam8 I’d start on YouTube, take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72gKksBe16c. The nice thing about Synology is you get phone, chat and email support, it’s pretty good. Because you get support and specialized hardware Synology is the expensive option.

If you want something that will work and be less expensive you can use something Open Source (free!) that runs on a regular computer with attached drives. Take a look at -

      TrueNAS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjLaK8yQAag
      Rockstor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McU8ctQFF4Y

@stam8 I use a Synology DS1821+ but any of the consumer Synology NASes will work - https://www.synology.com/en-us/products?tower=ds_j%2Cds_plus%2Cds_value%2Cds_xs. They don’t come with drives installed, they are compatible with almost all 3.5” drives. Mine has 8 slots, I started with two drives and added more as I needed the space. You can also replace drives with bigger ones without losing any data. This mean you can constantly add space until it’s filled with the largest possible drives.

They run Docker which means you can run your BitTorrent client on the NAS, it’s fast and runs 24/7.

Lots of helpful posts here - https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/

    • Invalid or corrupt torrent files with Transmission

In case anyone is getting an error like "Error adding <torrent name>: invalid or corrupt torrent file" when trying to add a torrent to Transmission. It's a known issue, see https://github.com/transmission/transmission/issues/458.

In the meantime you will need to use some other BitTorrent client.

About 34TB. Is that too much?

    • Setup CORS between gaytor.rent and gaytorrent.ru?

I’m using the new domain name to access the site but there are lots of links that still point to the old name. Right now this requires multiple logins. Have you considered setting up CORS for the session cookies so multiple logins aren’t required?

This was 100% my fault, the add-on I use to manage referrer headers was updated and started blocking same-origin. Once I excluded GT I could download again.

    • Just started getting Usage Violations -

I haven't made any changes to my browser or installed any new extensions but I started getting Usage Violation messages whenever I try and download a torrent about a week ago. I've tried via the search results page and the torrent details page. I'm using Firefox 81.0.2 on Ubuntu 20.

    • 404 Error logging in -

I’ve been getting a 404 error about half the time I try and login, the address is http://gaytorrent.ru/takelogin.php. Anyone else having an issue?

    • Trimming excess torrents -

I’m currently seeding ~2,700 torrents. I occasionally get errors about having to many active torrents so I need to stop seeding some. Is there a particular strategy I should be using when deciding what torrents to stop? Oldest last activity date, oldest torrents, lowest ratio, highest ratio, number of other seeders, something else? I get waaay to many automated re-seed requests, I don’t have the time to deal with them so once I delete a torrent I won’t reseed it. I won’t stop seeding if I’m the only seeder. My ratio is ~8.9 and I have a buffer of 307TB so I’m not too worried about a little dip in either.

I manage my torrents with Python scripts so I can build in any logic I want to. Any suggestions appreciated!

    • RE: New Design

The new design is great on mobile. On my 4K desktop it's a bit too small. When I use the browser zoom function it gets very jumbled. If it could handle zooming better it would be perfect! Screenshots attached.

    • Bulk access to .torrent files?

I’ve been a member for 11 years (😀). In that time I’ve had torrent clients crash and corrupt their databases, hardware failures, I’ve changed clients, etc. This means I’ve lost the running torrents and .torrent files. I store the content separately from my BitTorrent clients, I’ve been lucky and almost never lost a video.

I have several thousand videos downloaded from here that I’m not seeding. I’d like to find a way to seed all those old videos. I’m a software engineer, if I can get access to all the .torrent files I can find matching videos ((by name + length) + md5sum sometimes) and start seeding them again.

I’d be happy to open source whatever I write so others can take advantage. I’ll likely use Transmission or Deluge, they both have an API. I’ll bundle it as a container so anyone can run it. I wouldn’t re-distribute the .torrent files so there would need to be a way for other people to access them if this is something the admins want to enable.

      Let me know, thanks!

    • What size/encoding do you prefer??

I am going to transcode some videos and upload them. What do you think is better? Smaller, lower quality videos (~700-800MB) or larger, DVD quality videos, (1.8-2.5GB videos)??
