      @raphjd:

      In the UK, we have "health and safety" laws that prevent police from doing a lot of things.

      Police stand by and watch kids drown in knee deep water.  It's really sad that in the UK anyway, police are prevented from helping people due to stupid ass laws.

      We have the same thing in the USA.. only laws are not required.  The police are lazy and don't need to be told not to stick their necks out.

    • HOAX - Air Force Academy cadet

      When there was racist graffiti on the mirrors of several black cadets at an air force academy.. it made major nationwide news.

      As #1 pointed out, there were no apologies, no retractions, and very little coverage when it was discovered a black cadet was the one that did it!

      @raphjd:

      Morristown NJ had 5 black churches vandalized in a single night.   Obviously, it could be nothing but white people being racist.

      Nope,  Zuri C. Towns  is a 45yo black man.   He confessed to vandalizing all 5 black churches.

      I often mention "lies of omission" and many people don't understand what that is.  Here is a great example:
      Read this article about the 5 black churches being vandalized.  After reading it, one would think that is horrible and it was some white person that did it.  Not once in that article did they say "oh, by the way… a black man did this".  Instead, they let people assume that evil whitey did it.

    • Extremely bad advice on a major TV show - NCIS

      The TV show NCIS - starring Mark Harmon as 'Gibbs', has a recent episode involving "ransomware".

      Ransomware is typically a message that pops up on your screen threatening to delete all your files or contact the FBI unless you call a number and pay them $500 for a key to get rid of the ransomware.

      On this TV show, the character McGee - who is their computer geek - advises that it is easiest to just PAY the money!
      That is TERRIBLE advice.  Never pay that.  They won't actually take your money - because if they did, that would be traceable, and they would be shut down immediately.  Instead, what they are after is your credit card and/or banking information which they can then sell or use to make purchases, etc.

      It is terrible advice on the part of that show to suggest that anybody should pay this money.

      By the way, it's now usually very simple to get rid of ransomware.  First try closing the TAB that contains the ransomware.  If that doesn't work, go to your task manager and end the task which is the browser which is running the ransomware.

      Typically people get ransomware when they go searching for straight porn on obscure random websites hosted in China.  Malware tends to be hosted in countries such as China, Turkey, and Russia.  By far, most of it is China and Turkey, but people love to blame Russia.

      Stay away from straight porn and you should be fine.

    • RE: What is the meaning of "Pun Intended" ?

      @Kekkaishi:

      I'm not a native English speaker therefore i ask:
      what is the simple meaning when someone says "Pun Intended" when referring to something he just said before? (or no pun intended)
      i tried to google it but haven't been able to find a simple answer.
      i understand that it's a play on words - but when and why?
      "You can tune a guitar, but you can't tuna fish" - i understand the joke in this example but, ironically i hear it a lot on the U.S news which i doubt they try to make a joke while debating an important issue
      can you please provide an example so that i can finally 'connect' the dots ?

      thanks guys.

      A pun is a phrase which could be interpreted in a serious way or in a funny way, such as in:

      Someone stole my toilet and the police have nothing to go on.

      Having sex in an elevator is wrong on so many levels.

      Last time I got caught stealing a calendar I got 12 months.

      I saw an ad for burial plots, and thought to myself this is the last thing I need.

      All four of those examples have both a serious meaning, and a funny meaning.
      If you were being serious, you might add "no pun intended"  so that people don't think you were making a joke.
      If you were making a joke, you might add "pun intended"  so that nobody would take your remark seriously.

    • Susan Sarandon is not liberal enough?

      Actress Susan Sarandon has been a prominent actress for nearly 50 years.  She is now 71.  Although she has been in 148 movies, she is known to even more people from her appearances on various award shows.  She is quite an outspoken liberal activist.
      BUT… she dared to criticize Hillary Clinton.  Now the moonbat media are attacking her like piranhas.
      It amuses me that the left wing has zero tolerance for anyone of their own that they don't agree with 100%.  Intolerance is a classic symptom of weakness, hypocrisy, and desperation.

    • The true legacy of Sheik Osama…

      I have often considered that the worst thing Sheik Barack Osama did was double the national debt by adding $10 trillion to it (while incredibly at the same time having a stagnant economy! )
      BUT, that is not his true legacy.  Obama deeply changed this country - at least temporarily - perhaps permanently.  Before Obama, this country was far more moderate and balanced.  Obama allowed the left to grab power and establish their lunacy in the country - and they are not letting up.  I think that time will restore some sense back to the country.  Hopefully, Trump's health will remain strong, and he will run for a second term.

      Obama made the USA a haven for left wing ideology… so far left that nobody could fill the role of left-wing grandmaster.. not even crooked Hillary - because Hillary was Obama's opponent in 2008.  Hopefully Jerry Brown won't try running for president again.  Jerry is already 79..so that is doubtful.

      It's the norm to completely end all connection to the person that gets banned.

      Perhaps.. perhaps.. perhaps..
      But what I'm saying is that they have no right to ban anybody.  If they don't like something.. silence the person or something like that.

      It seems to me that while Facebook and Youtube might decide that they don't want you using their service anymore, they should not be able to do any more than prevent you from posting or responding to anything.

      They should NOT be allowed to prevent you from logging into your own account, and seeing your own contact list of friends, and from seeing your own previous messages.

      I have one account in which a murderer confessed his crime to me..  then committed suicide.  My account was disabled before I could take any action on this… and another man was falsely convicted of that murder.  If fact, many of the things the murderer told me were so obscure and weird that I ignored them.  However, in the trial that occurred 2.5 years later, it turned out that the things that murderer told me were CORRECT!

      Sucks, don't it?

      Meanwhile, the falsely convicted man is currently sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole. Unless I do something, he will probably die in prison in about 50 years.

    • RE: Twitter - wrong thinkers have until 18 Dec 2017 to clean up their act

      @raphjd:

      Twitter said it's going to start banning wrong thinkers.

      The weird part is that you don't have to do anything wrong on their site because they are going to monitor everyone's offsite conduct and affiliations.

      Oddly, Twitter originally advertised itself as the home of free speech.   Less than a decade later, they are anti-free speech for those they disagree with.

      I know the leftists are beating their dick to this because they hate free speech, except their own.

      That is right out of George Orwell's "1984" - THOUGHT CRIME

    • RE: YouTube AD-pocalypse 2.0

      @raphjd:

      YouTube has been hit with another scandal.

      While YouTube focuses on banning "wrong think" (non SJW) channels, they are ignoring everything else.

      You can be a black supremacist, calling for the death/murder of all whites and YouTube refuses to do anything about it.  They claim that calling for the murder of all white people is not racism (same with Facebook and Twitter).

      HOWEVER,  despite YouTubers (myself included) complaining about the horrible child videos (exploitation and abuse), YouTube ignored us.   Well, now that's been made public, YouTube has lost more advertisers.

      Here's the kick in the cunt; YouTube is punishing "wrong think" channels even harder than before so that "correct think" channels don't get punished for this problem.

      Youtube is quite dubious.  If they eliminated all audio or video content that was posted without the creator's permission, they would not have much content that anybody would be interested in.

      @raphjd:

      People change, so something they did 50 years ago doesn't mean it represents them now.

      Ok, let's leave "juvenile" alone and just look at "adults".    Let's assume that all crimes we're discussing happened on or after the 18th birthday.

      As an example, when I was young, I used to get really, really drunk when out with friends.   As I aged, my drinking got less and less and for the last 10+ years, I barely drink.   We still have the bottle of wine the previous owner of this house gave us on completion.

      Let me refine my response..  events of long ago should only be considered if they have current relevance.
      I also reminded myself that police and lawyers rarely get things right with CURRENT events… so the odds of them getting things right about events of long past events are slim or none.

      @raphjd:

      Do you seriously want to be arrested at 35 or 50 for that piece of candy you shoplifted when you were 5?

      I support the current system where serious crimes, like murder, never go away.

      You can't prove I stole that candy!   hehee

      That would be covered by being a minor.

      Also.. the statute of limitations should never expire if the same crime is being committed.
      For instance, woman that lives about 1000 feet down the block has been a pain in the ass for ages.
      If she did harassed me 10 years ago, and then stopped, she should not be liable for what she did 10 years ago.  However, if she did something 10 years ago.. and did it again 8 years ago.. and again 6 years ago.. and again 1 year ago.. and again last week…  she should still be liable for what she did 10 years ago - because it is part of the same crime.    But then again... why burden the government with punishing her?  There are other ways to punish people.
      I sometimes mention a cop whose sister murdered someone on his behalf.  He knows that I know what his sister did, and why (mainly because she is NUTS!)  It has destroyed that cop's life to live with the burden of his guilt.  His health is horrible, he is not happy, and I am a recurring reminder of what he and his psycho sister did.  He only lives half a mile away.. and yet.. I almost never see him in any local stores or restaurants.  Whenever I do, he always get's very distressed.  He must drive long distances to shop at stores and go to restaurants where the odds of encountering me are very low.
      Another issue is that cops tend to burn out.  Being a cop is a dirty job.  You don't get to cherry pick what tasks you want to do..and a lot of what cops get stuck doing is morally and ethically reprehensible.  One simple example of that.. one cop I knew of in the New Orleans area of Louisiana quit because he couldn't stand being forced to stick them in nasty shelters or in prison or more commonly harass them so they would move to some other place.  Then there is the issue of having innocent people being punished.. .and guilty people getting off.  It gradually wears the tiny brains of a cop down.

      ====
      This reminds me of something buried in the bible that I could never accept.  According to the bible, all sin is just as bad... so technically, if one takes the bible literally,  stealing a lollipop is just as bad as slaughtering 100 people.   Crazy!

      @boxingclever:

      excessive use of viagra/cialis can cause vascular problems. a lot of guys have died suddenly in their prime from overdoses and lifestyle imbalances.

      I'm sure "poppers" are also a danger.  That is amyl nitrate.  Nitrates are the most carcinogenic (cancer causing) chemicals that exist other than radioactive elements.  Inhaling them has to have some nasty long-term effects.  They are supposed to dilate the blood vessels or something.
      I suspect that a lot of people in the biz get hooked on crystal meth too.

    • I legal issue that I don't know the answer to.

      There are statue of limitations on most crimes.  Typically, if the charges are not made within 3 years, the charges cannot be litigated.
      One exception to that is murder.

      I wonder about all these people who come up with allegations of sexual harassment 10,20.. 40 years after the alleged incidents.
      On the one hand, these allegations can't be charged because of the statute of limitations.
      On the other hand, how can the accused ever clear their name if the allegations are never litigated in court?
      I suppose that the accused could sue the accuser for libel, slander, defamation… and technically they should win, because the accuser did not properly make the allegations, and they can't go to court to make the allegations.
      But that is not how it works.  The law turns a blind eye to .. the law.. and  you get judges doing whatever the fuck they feel like doing.

      But.. even that is a problem.  consider that the accuser was 10 years old at the time of the sexual harassment.. The 10 year old could probably not make the allegation until the statute of limitations expired.

      I personally am no fan of a statute of limitations on anything.

      Blue eyes are recessive.

      I have brown eyes and my Mom has brown eyes.  My Dad and my three sisters have blue eyes.
      That means both me and my Mom have a gene for blue eyes.

      You are correct of course.  The only way your sisters could have blue eyes is if your mother who has brown eyes had one blue gene and one brown.

      Two blue eyed parents cannot have a brown eyed baby.. because there are no brown genes in the parents.
