I'm having a similar problem, except my ratio is actually not bad. I have hundreds of gigabytes of buffer, yet I can't download! Please let me know if I am missing something here?

Here's my opinion. I agree with you not to try anything because you value the friendship. He's straight, and trying to get him to be what he isn't will surely ruin the friendship. Also, if he's ever curious, he knows you're gay because you already came out to him. I wouldn't hold my breath on that one though.

What I imagine is there's qualities about him you are attracted to. Determine what they are, and look for them in someone who's gay. If biceps and openminded-ness are important, then participate in some activities where you will have gay men who are athletic and open-minded. I would also remind myself "this is my friend" and try to treat him as such.

Agree with rbs3i. There's rarely a plain black or white picture in these things. If he says he is attracted to females and not males, except with you; perhaps he is bisexual, with predominant interest in females?

As everyone else has been mentioning, depends on the social norms and expectations of your culture and demographic group. As far as I'm aware, more Western cultures frown upon it. In Asian cultures in the past, it used to be the norm. It was considered good, that bloodlines were kept pure or close. Nowadays, it raises eyebrows if it is a cousin on the mother's side; and as far as I've seen - if it's a cousin on the paternal side, it's not permitted.
