Do you honestly believe that he didn't name it after his admitted heroes?
Given that I've been watching the show for 11 years and been a member for 5, no he named the show tyt because the show is about rebelling against an established system. It describes what the show does because the show is about challenging people in power. If the show were a momento to the ottoman empire I never would've joined.
My advice is to use DuckDuckGo for your searches as they don't hide stuff like Google and some others do, plus they don't track you.
I've been a member for a long time. I searched my email for that letter because I remembered that I had read it some years ago.
As for Anna Kasparian, you do realize that there were jews who were prison guards for the Nazis, don't you? We are also told that non-whites who aren't picking cotton on the Democrat plantation are "white supremacists". When blacks attack asians, it's internal "white supremacy".
Were it not for ana I wouldn't even have known or cared that there was a genocide of Armenians in the first place. Armenians that feel she has betrayed them, have either never bothered to watch the show, or can't get over the fact that she works for a turkish man because they are stupid as hell. Quote me.
Here's an Armenian's view of the whole thing; https://hovikyerevan.medium.com/timeline-of-cenk-uygurs-non-denial-of-armenian-genocide-wip-5084ffc8443d
Don't care. At this point, Cenk has acknowledged the armenian genocide several times and has spoken about it over the years. Even the US government has acknowledged it which is a borderline miracle. If they all they wanted was acknowledgement like they claimed, they would've stopped their hate campaign against TYT years ago. But it was never about that. It's about conservatives that hate TYT's politics, using a genocide they couldn't care less about to attack tyt from some moral high ground.
These are the same Armenians who supported Trump who not only refused to recognized the genocide but also helped empower the right wing of Turkey in denying the genocide. If Tyt were a conservative show with the same exact fact pattern these same Armenians would be singing her praises.
It is a beautiful thing that a Turk and an Armenian can become such great friends and work to make the world a better place. And their show is really informative insightful.

We already had the Male Genital Mutilation discussion and its sexist attitudes in the US. You can find the thread here somewhere. 84% of MGM is ordered by the mother. The same women that would never, ever have their daughters circumcised.
My point is that women pay taxes too and none of us have ever even tried to get in between a man and his doctor and cherry pick what we should pay for. I'm not sure how this conversation switched to genital mutilation but as a registered nurse working in a hospital, I reject the characterization that male circumcision is genital mutilation. It's hygienic and preventative healthcare.
Female circumcision was banned throughout the west, but male genital mutilation was not.
Because the purpose and the medical need is totally different. First of all, even if there were enough excess skin in the vagina to cause a problem (spoiler alert: there isn't), the vagina is a self cleaning organ that maintains a delicate balance of bacteria and yeast all on it's own. I'm nigerian american and I can honestly tell you that the purpose behind genitally mutilating young girls is solely to prevent them from having sex and to make sex a painful experience for them should they try it.
but men do not have this self-cleaning self balancing quality because their organ is external. The folds of the foreskin breed bacteria and strange smells. Uncircumcised people need to be extra clean in order to prevent smells and infection. You only say these things because you have no idea how it feels having to remove your foreskin past birth. I once had a patient whose foreskin was infected at 14 so he had to have it removed. Of course we aestheticized him, but he was extremely uncomfortable and when he came back for a checkup he said it was absolutely the most painful experience of his whole damn life. He couldn't even move for a week.
Now it's not set in stone that excess foreskin will get infected, but male circumcision aims to prevent such cases.
Scotland used studies on male genital mutilation as justification to ban ear cropping and tail docking on dogs but still allow boys to be mutilated.
male circumcision is not mutilation bro. look at the site we're on. If you can't appreciate the beauty and aesthetic of a circumcised cock, I'm not sure you deserve to be an administrator here.
Behold:
this is mutilation?
WHO and other medical groups advocate for male genital mutilation as a part of female health care. This is sexist on its face. It also ignores that HPV hides in the genital folds regardless of gender. So they should be advocating for the "extra skin" on both genders to be removed.
HPV is not any kind of indication for circumcision, and I don't know where you heard something so ridiculous. We don't circumcise ANYONE to prevent STDs And there is NO extra skin in the vagina, all skin in there is necessary.
Planned Parenthood is severely funded by the government. The claim is that they don't use any of that money for abortions, which is extremely dishonest. If they stopped getting taxpayer money, where would they get the money to fund their buildings, staff, etc, etc, etc?!
The biggest misconception that conservatives have is that Planned Parenthood is some kind of abortion hotspot. PP is government funded healthcare for low income families, abortions are only 3% of what they do and all abortions must be paid for out of pocket because of the hyde amendment. It's FEDERAL LAW. This claim that PP is breaking the law, out in the open, all across the country, has never been substantiated by a single person.
The HPV vaccine was only given to females in the west for over a decade, despite males getting far more often than females. From memory, males got it 5 times more than females.
I'm in the field and I have never hear such a stat in my life. It doesn't sound like such a thing can be true so I'd double check your sources if I were you because medically speaking that makes no sense at all. If women had any priority to the vaccine at all in the past it's because HPV can causes cervical cancer in women and since men do not have a cervix they won't die from hpv. However men were always encouraged to take the vaccine as well, to prevent giving hpv to other women.
In many countries, women can not commit sex crimes, domestic violence, and other things.
dude, in saudi arabia women can't even drive. in pakistan girls as young as 13 are still forced to marry their rapists and abusive old men. Are you really trying to compare oppression right now?
There is a laundry list of things where there is rampant sexism against men.
........... BRUH.

exactly - which is why politics & religion have almost no place at the table when talking about these issues (IMHO)
It's my business when you demand I pay for it.
But it's really not though. paying taxes doesn't give you the right to get in between a woman and her doctor and decide what is necessary for her and what's not. Where is your medical degree at?
@raphjd that's true, but I cannot believe you're saying this when you're defending the president who defunded the irs and passed maniacal tax cuts for the rich, adding trillions to the deficit.
By doing that the irs don't have the resources to go after the richest tax dodgers instead they spend their time going after the poor.
@raphjd said in Caitlyn Jenner causes "transphobia" confusion:
I agree with you.
My point is that modern liberals have a "this or that" mentality when it comes to certain groups.
I'm a transphobe because I don't consider attention whore to be trans. Trans people want to just live their lives and be left alone.
The identity politics that liberals engage in is super frustrating, patronizing, and completely performative. Everyone wants to be "woke," and check a box. They substitute substance for optics all the time. One of the most frustrating things I have ever gone through is watching so many blue liberal check marks on twitter, and so many other black women (the KHive) praise and defend Kamala Harris, a woman who built her career jailing people of color, and empowering police abuses. Anyone who complains about police brutality but celebrates that that vile foul piece of shit is our vice president needs to shut the fuck up eternally.
But I would argue that conservatives are even WORSE on the trans issue. Conservatives engage in tokenism. When they want to criticize black people they go find a black person, when they want to criticize a woman they go find women, when they want to criticize immigrants they go find an immigrant willing to say disparaging things about their own groups. Which is another reason why I can't stand caitlyn, because she's the token trans person. Furthermore, liberals are not the ones who are obsessed with where Trans people pee. Liberals aren't the ones fearmongering about trans people and making them out to be predators.
All trans people want to be able to do is use the bathroom in peace and play sports in school with their friends. Why would anyone waste time and mental bandwidth creating legislation that bars them from doing that?
@jsl76 said in Teenage knife fights are no big deal, say liberals:
Did you watch the video? It seems you want to weigh in on leftist talking points without acutally apprehending the facts in the case. I'm not interested in debating counterfactuals with someone who hasn't even mastered the factuals. But thanks for playing.
I had to go back and check because sometimes you guys say bs so confidently, I was like did I miss something? How can you blame me for not watching a video you didn't even link? My thoughts are based on what I've read about the case. If there is some kind of video floating around that you believe justifies this shooting why don't you share it?
You just hurt my feelings bro. Maybe I just needed more information, jeez. "factuals" and "counterfactuals" what kind of pretentious... What are you even talking about? If you don't want to defend your argument just say so, don't make it seem like there's a problem with my intelligence.
Why the mean girl energy, Regina George??
@jsl76 pffft, I'm not trolling, I am asking you to envision a situation in which the girl may have been completely justified in holding that knife. I didn't realize I was asking too much by sharing a personal story and asking you to think a little bit, my bad.
If it was okay to kill people based on potentialities all of us would be dead by now.
@jsl76 said in Teenage knife fights are no big deal, say liberals:
@calatar Check the video, dude. The officer had fewer than 10 seconds from arriving on scene to shooting to make a decision, and in this case, the use of force was surely justified. Had this happened in London, the girl in pink would have been severely wounded or killed. In America, the knife-wielding attacker was killed. I prefer our solution to that of our cousins across the pond, IMO. No one wants to see ANYONE killed by anyone for any reason, but your comments demonstrate you haven't performed even the most cursory review of the Bryant scene.
I once pulled out a knife on my own father, because he violated a restraining order and came to my mom's house to do her and me harm. This is the same man who on another occasion used an axe to break down my mother's bedroom door, who took all of our china and set it on fire in the back yard, who broke my mother's nose and pushed her down a flight of stairs. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a serrated steak knife because I was scared and needed something to protect myself with. Had the police in this story had seen me I'm the one who would've been shot dead, are you saying I would've deserved it?
@bi4smooth ah ok, I was arguing against:
Many American police departments use militarized training tactics
Many servicemen I know would disagree with such a characterization, they don't want to be associated the dumpster fire that has become american policing. A lot of them are quite proud of their training.
but I concede that our general points are the same.
@raphjd said in Caitlyn Jenner causes "transphobia" confusion:
The funny thing is, she's a Republican and liberals hate them.
So, do they hate Republicans enough to be transphobes according to their own rules?
Do they vote for some white dude in Gavin Newsome or do they vote for a transwoman in Caitlyn Jenner?
I'm tingling, just thinking about this catch 22 liberals have created for themselves, I might just have to touch myself.
2 things can be true at the same time. I think her politics are shitty and selfish. I find her to be a detestable person in general mostly because of her kardashianism and elitism. But I will defend her right to exist and pee in the bathroom she identifies with. These are not hard concepts.
@raphjd said in The Truth About Bill Gates:
Proof that Bill Gates is a total fucking hypocrite and scum of the earth.
lololol so for those of you that didn't watch the video it's just 6 minutes and 35 seconds psa on why we should tax the hell out of the rich.
bro if you want to complain about rich people buying rich people shit and living in craven luxe, you need to start asking why we allow them to evade taxes and pay their workers starvation wages. conservatives are the ones obsessed with protecting "job-creators" like bil gates.
also, didn't even know bill gates wrote a book but I don't care. although he had the right stances on the environment, defeating climate change will take a collectivist effort. Asking individuals to live by the right standard while the majority of others refuse to will not solve the problem. We need laws that everyone will adhere to.
@bi4smooth I think it's just craven and rampant sexism. Imagine if we women rose up and said "hell no, we ain't paying for your vasectomy! we ain't paying for your viagra!, we ain't paying for your circumcisions! we ain't paying for your itchy ballsack medication!!" You guys would be wondering how that's any of our damn business, and you'd be right to. But the conservative base has built an entire national conversation out of saying such things to women and we're all supposed to pretend it's normal because of "sincerely held religious beliefs." I just can't.
please hear me and understand this.
the senate parliamentarian is irrelevant.
the senate parliamentarian is irrelevant.
the senate. parliamentarian. is IRRELEVANT.
she is an unelected glorified staffer there to give advice, that's it. her words have no legal weight behind them and her decisions can and often are overrruled by the vice president. Kamala is just using the parliamentarian as an excuse because she's protecting the corrupt corporate democrats that would've voted against covid relief had she forced them to vote on it. She was protecting people like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema whose constituents sent them there for higher wages, but have been fighting it ever since. Bernie put the amendment up for a vote to expose them.
Do not let that lying shrew Kamala pretend she didn't have a choice. Do not let these limp dick politicians make comical excuses for bending the knee to corporate power.
@eobox91103 said in Party of family values part 1 :
"Viability" is a tricky concept: As medical science improves, smaller and smaller fetuses could be considered viable. But there could also be an argument (which I don't think anybody has made) that a child isn't "viable" until age 8 or 10, given that for some period of many years, s/he is dependent on other humans to provide food, shelter, etc. The young of other species (I'm thinking of turtles and fish, and likely others) are abandoned when hatched, so they are by definition viable at birth. I don't know the way out of this mess.
I am also concered about technology as well redefining viability however we have some leeway. So far a woman usually finds out she's pregnant around 3 months. and then they have another 3 months after that to decide if they want the baby. I can live with that becoming 2 months but we all need to respect a woman's autonomy but as it stands there is really no way a baby less than 6 months can survive outside of the womb so that is still the standard.
Dying because of lack of care or lack of resources, is a different standard then dying because of lack of development and and your organs not having the capacity to breathe and your heart to beat.
@raphjd but contraception is healthcare, it falls under prescription medication. Birth control is used for a myriad of things not just to prevent birth but it aids women in regulating their cycles, easing cramps and treating hormonal acne. Conservatives have no right getting in between a woman and her doctor and cherry picking which medication taxpayers should pay for, the same way we leftists have no right to decide that our taxpayer dollars shouldn't go towards paying for men's viagra or gonorrhea ointment. If public insurance programs like medicare ad medicaid cover prescription medication, than they cover prescription medication no matter the type.
Furthermore conservatives have been crying about not paying for people's abortions for a hot minute. For anyone who is not american please do not be fooled. The American taxpayer does not pay for a single person's abortion. The Hyde Amendment a federal law, prevents taxpayer money in going to abortions (although it should, because again abortions are healthcare). They are crying about an issue that does not exist.
and bro, if you're the kind of conservative that doesn't care about contraception and sex ed i commend you but you are definitely in the minority. all along the bible belt conservatives fought and lobbied to remove comprehensive sex education from schools. The result was the red states having much higher rates of stds and teen pregnancy. Ken Cucchinelli of virginia even ran for governor on trying to bring back an anti-sodomy law that would've outlawed even blowjobs. (Yes. even blowjobs.) Y'all conservatives are obsessed butt sex and obsessed with pretending you aren't obsessed with butt sex.

You need to do your research, it's only very recently 2018/19 that Cenk finally admitted that TYT committed the Armenian Genocide. It was as late as 2015 that he denied the Armenian Genocide even happened.
The Young Turks are why Turkey no longer has a monarchy.
I said the young turks never denied the genocide, tyt is more than just one man.
And unfortunately you are just wrong. Cenk Uygur wrote an article denying the genocide in 1991 and before the young turks was ever even created. And he did this because he was inundated with the bullshit nationalist propaganda of his own country. Kind of similar to the way you've been brainwashed into thinking that america parking its ass in afghanistan, or sending our kids off to fight wars in a country who didn't attack us for the sake of robbing their oil, and making wealthy men wealthier, and spend 20 years depleting our own treasure just to fuck with brown people is somehow fighting the war on terror. You know first hand that propaganda is a powerful thing.
However I've been watching tyt since 2010 (back when I was in high school). As a viewer I have never once heard him say it didn't happen. They first began talk about in 2013, and that's when I first learned about the genocide. it would be a curious thing to do as a denier, hire an armenian and let her talk about the armenian genocide nonstop? An the cenk wrote a response in 2016 denouncing his older articles and admitting the genocide happened. link text
He admitted it a long time ago, non viewers were just gaslighting.
Also, the phrase young turks has a different connotation today, otherwise you want to tell me that this famous song is about the armenian genocide?? link text
@bi4smooth the bible was pro-abortion though lol.
@raphjd but we both have a different definition of what life is.
Have you ever had eggs? you kill life each time you do because had y'all just left the hen alone to do it's thing and bring that egg to term it would've become a chick. why is that life any different from an the clump of cells that make up a human zygote, why does that life matter to you more?
We have to define where life begins. Science has defined it as viability. Because if you define life at the potentiality for life such as at conception that rabbit hole never ends. That means by the time you get that dick up there is a 3rd person in that room. have you ever condemned yourself for all the lives you've killed cumming in your toilet?
but then, why do conservatives claim to be pro life, but anti birth control and anti sex education that would lead to less abortions? how do y'all claim to be pro life and then try to gut and defund the programs that would help sustain that life? make it make sense.
